Is Hormone-Free Milk Better?

Friday, February 24th, 2006

If you are concerned about the large number of chemicals and additives in
milk, you may be tempted to give your family ³Hormone-Free² milk.
Unfortunately, there is no such thing! Hormone-Free milk is just a marketing
phrase for ³less hormones than chemically-saturated² milk. In fact, all body
fluids and flesh from any animal contains hormones. Steak, hamburger, pork
chops, milk, urine, etc. all contain hormones. What they are really
advertising is the fact that they don¹t add hormones to their cows to
artificially produce more milk. Any animal is a hormone-producing machine.
We make our own hormones constantly. We don¹t need cow¹s hormones in our
bodies as well!

However, this doesn¹t change the fact that milk hormones are bad for you. In
fact, just eating meat can be bad for you. Anytime you eat or drink an
animal, your body is assimilating that animal¹s hormones. The old saying,
³You are what you eat² never rang truer!

We¹ve made the point before that other animals don¹t drink milk once they
are weaned. And other animals certainly don¹t sit down and drink the milk of
other animals. Only we humans do that. Let¹s put it into perspective. Would
you sit down for a bowl of cereal and ask for a nice big squirt of breast
milk? Sounds sort of gross! But we do the same thing by feeding our children
cow¹s milk. And who doesn¹t love a big bowl of chocolate ice cream? Yum!
Frozen cow¹s milk!

So the question shouldn¹t be ³Is Hormone-Free Milk Better?² but rather
³Where are the hormones in my diet coming from?² If you want to grow to be a
cow, then certainly drink plenty of cow¹s milk and eat lots of beef. All
those cow and steer hormones will help you grow into a nice big bovine! But
as humans, we should steer (pun intended) away from animal hormones period.
There are plenty of other nutritional sources for proteins, vitamins, and
minerals that avoid the hormone problem all together. We¹ll look at other
plant-based foods in upcoming articles that will provide a healthy,
nutritional alternative to animal-based diets. For example, a diet rich in
spinach, broccoli, and other green vegetables, is better for you in the long
run than beef and dairy. You may even be surprised how much better you feel
once you eliminate meat from your diet and thus, reduce the amount of animal
hormones you are ingesting and assimilating.

Internet Makes Public Records Search Easier

Thursday, February 23rd, 2006

If you have access to the internet, you have access to literally hundreds of thousands of public records at your disposal. You can find basically anything you want if you are willing to search for it, including free public records such as marriage certificates, unclaimed money information, property deeds and criminal records.

When we began to do public records searches we were amazed at how much information showed up. We began by searching for public records and quickly realized that we would need to narrow the search before we could even begin to weed through all of the information available on the web.

Therefore, our first tip for anyone beginning to search for public records on the internet is to be as specific as possible. This means you need to specify what type of record you want, state, city, dates or years and first, middle and last names as they pertain to your record’s search. Even being that specific, you will still be given a large number of options to choose from. For instance, when we searched for “criminal records Dallas Texas 2005 John Michael Smith” over 500,000 websites were identified. Obviously, many of these sites were not specifically geared towards public records, but you get the picture that you need to be specific.

Because public records are free, stay clear of sites that try to charge money you for a search or want to charge you for access to the records once they are found. Most of the time you could simply just hop in your car and drive to the local courthouse or vital statistics department to get the free records so there is no reason that you would need to pay for free records. It must be noted that public records are different then searches for people or people locaters and it is not unusual to expect to pay a fee for that service.

There are many sites that will help you narrow down your search, such as Locatepublicrecords.com and publicrecords.com. This helps you avoid some of the junk sites, sites that charge money and sites that don’t really pertain to a public records search. WE would suggest that you start at one of these sites to do a speedier search.

The next time you need a public record, want information about public deeds or are just a concerned neighbor wanting to know who is living in your area, you can turn to the internet. With a little searching, you can find the public records you need without having to leave the comfort of your house and standing in line with everyone else.

The 8 Toughest Business Questions

Thursday, February 23rd, 2006

Do you ever wonder if you will really succeed with your
small business? You may have a number of special traits, but
how well developed are they? There are qualities of endeavor
and achievement that are common to successful business
owners. Ask yourself these questions to see if you have what
it takes.

1. How will the business affect your family? The first few
years of business start-up can be hard on family life. The
strain of an unsupportive spouse may be hard to balance
against the demands of starting a business. There also may
be financial difficulties until the business becomes
profitable, which could take months or years. You may have
to adjust to a lower standard of living or put family assets
at risk.

2. How will you support your family while building up your
business? This question must be worked out according to
each persons’ individual circumstances. Many people start
out on a part-time basis. Then when their incomes reach a
certain level they will switch over to full time. Granted,
if you take this “safer and surer” approach, it may take you
longer to reach the goals you set for your new business, but
you will save yourself (and those who depend on you
financially) a lot of anxiety. Ultimately, like the turtle
in the race who moved ahead slowly yet steadily, you will
have a greater chance of reaching the finish line.

3. How well do you get along with different personalities?
Business owners need to develop working relationships with a
variety of people including: customers; vendors, staff;
bankers; and professionals such as lawyers, accountants and
consultants. Can you deal with a demanding client, an
unreliable vendor or cranky staff person in the best
interest of your business?

4. How good are you at making decisions? Small business
owners are constantly required to make decisions under
pressure.

5. Do you have the physical and emotional stamina to run a
business? Business ownership can be challenging and
exciting. But it is also a lot of work. Can you face 12-hour
work days for six or seven days a week?

6. How well do you plan and organize? Research indicates
that many business failures could have been avoided through
better planning. Good organization of: financials;
inventory; schedules; production; can help avoid pitfalls.

7. Do you have the drive to maintain your motivation?
Running a business can wear you down. Some business owners
feel burned out by having to carry all the responsibility on
their shoulders. Strong motivation can help to survive
slowdowns, as well as periods of burnout.

8. Do you have the discipline to do what has to be done?
When working for someone else, it becomes routine to rise
early, be well-groomed and get to the office on time.
However, a significant number of people starting up a small
business at home all too often find themselves at 10:00 in
the morning in their bathrobes, drinking a second or third
cup of coffee.

Make no mistake, starting a successful small business is
hard work. BUT, it is also highly rewarding! Attack the
challenge head-on and success will be yours.

What kind of plastic foams are best for your needs

Thursday, February 23rd, 2006

Nowadays, when you are thinking about accomplishing your hobbies generally consisting of model building, you couldn’t have missed the basic materials for it, which are called foam plastics. They can be used even in boat modeling, yet there are many things you should not forget when thinking about using them because there are several types, each one having different characteristics.

We can name three types of these foam plastics: the rigid Styrofoam, the rigid polyurethane foam and the beaded Styrofoam. The rigid Styrofoam and the rigid polyurethane foam have similar properties and can be given many shapes, while the beaded Styrofoam can be used only to shape angled and squared forms. You may recognize it whenever you buy an electrical device as this comes covered in the third type of the foam plastics: the beaded Styrofoam.

The second type of the foam plastics, the rigid polyurethane is a material of a light-brown color; it is alike the Rigid Styrofoam ,yet there are two main differences between them: this one will not dissolve whenever coated with polyester resin, and the second difference is that it is impossible to be cut with a hot wire cutter( a specific tool used by modelers in their work).

The first type of foam plastics, the rigid Styrofoam presents the opposite characteristics of the rigid polyurethane: it can easily be dissolved when coated with polyester resin and a hot wire cutter can be used to give different forms of this material. Moreover, the beaded

Styrofoam cannot be altered by means of carving but a hot wire cutter can be used to obtain carved shapes.

There were several doubts regarding the way you find these materials and the purpose of the article is also to clarify this aspect: the rigid polyurethane is generally sold in panels of 4X8 foot sheets; this is the case of the beaded Styrofoam too. The Rigid Styrofoam can be found in pink and blue(the pink type is less dense than the blue one and easier to carve with a hot wire cutter), its thickness being 1 or 2 inches.

In what concerns the price of the materials, you should know that Beaded Styrofoam is the cheapest as its properties are limited, while the Beaded Styrofoam is the most expensive(can be found only at commercial plastic suppliers). The rigid Styrofoam has a medium price as it combines the properties of the other two foam plastics: it can be sanded, carved, sawed or cut with the hot wire cutter mentioned above. This tool is similar to a scroll saw consisting of heated nichrome wire replacing the saw blade, enabling you to cut in any direction.

All in all, the three materials come in hand when performing your task: both advantageous and easy to work with, these foam plastics represent the key elements of model-building. In addition, the hot wire cutter is an advantage to your work as it can easily deal with the foam plastics and it is accessible to everyone. This way, the satisfaction of your work is guaranteed.
