Reasons for Excessive Underarm Perspiration

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

Axillary hyperhidrosis is the medical term used to describe excessive underarm perspiration. Typically, a person suffering from this condition will complain that the sweat actually forms ‘pools’ in the underarms, usually, but not always, accompanied by an unpleasant odor. Underarm perspiration stain removal from clothes becomes a daily routine and sufferers avoid wearing certain fabrics and colors, but that is only part of the problem. On a more serious level, excessive sweating causes acute social embarrassment and sends many people into depression because their self-esteem reaches such low levels.

To explore the reasons for excessive underarm perspiration, it is necessary to realize that, in most cases, axillary hyperhidrosis is a primary condition, i.e., a condition that is either genetic or inherent. So why do these people sweat so much? Under normal circumstances, sweating is the human body’s way of regulating temperature. As sweat evaporates from the surface of our skin, the body temperature comes down.

The body has over 3 million sweat glands that produce sweat under instructions from the sympathetic nervous system, which sends neural signals to the glands via a chemical called acetylcholine. However, in the case of excessive underarm perspiration, the glands produce far more sweat than is required to cool the body. Sweat production may increase owing to a number of stress factors, both physical and emotional. Other contributing factors include eating certain kinds of food, intake of alcohol, smoking, and external temperature changes.

At this point, the conventional methods of treating the problem of excessive underarm sweating can successfully monitor, and in some cases cure, the condition, but each has its negative effects, which means there is no single recorded cure for underarm sweating. In order to understand why none of these methods are foolproof, we need to study them in some detail:

Topical Treatments: Both over the counter and prescription antiperspirants have been used to treat mild to moderately severe cases of underarm perspiration. Typically, these antiperspirants plug the pores on the surface of the skin, thus preventing sweat from reaching the surface. Branded antiperspirants containing chemicals like aluminum chloride hexahydrate, formalin, glutaraldehyde, and tannic acid have been used in the treatment of axillary hyperhidrosis.

However, all the chemicals have potentially negative side effects. For instance, formalin not only smells bad, but may also cause contact dermatitis in a significant number of users. Similarly, glutaraldehyde, while a potentially viable treatment method for hyperhidrosis of the feet and hands, is virtually useless when it comes to acute underarm sweating because it causes brownish stains on the skin, which can cause socially embarrassing situations. Again, tannic acid is even less effective than glutaraldehyde and can also cause discolor the skin.

Besides, even the strongest antiperspirants need to be applied continuously in various doses over a long period of time because they do not represent a one-time solution. Put simply, pores that have been clogged unclog over time, necessitating a repeat dose.

Iontophoresis: Iontophoresis most commonly involves the administering of mild electrical shocks to the underarm to thicken the skin and thus reduce the flow of sweat to the skin’s surface. The patient usually immerses the affected part of the body in tap water, through which the electrical current then passes. However, using iontophoresis to treat severe underarm sweating is an extremely cumbersome process, and besides, not everyone is eligible for this treatment. Among those for whom iontophoresis is not recommended are pregnant and nursing women, cardiac patients, and epileptics.

Botulinum injection: Botulinum toxin is a neurotoxin produced by the anaerobic bacterium clostridium botulinum, which commonly causes food poisoning. Marketed under the trade name Botox by Allergan Inc., the toxin prevents the release of acetylcholine when injected into the area that is experiencing excessive sweating. As of now, however, the US Food and Drug Administration has approved the use of Botox in the treatment of acute underarm sweating or axillary hyperhidrosis only, so any medical practitioner who advertises Botox treatment for hyperhidrosis in other areas is immediately suspect.

How does Botox work? Well, both the underarms receive an injection of 50-200 units of Botox, usually under local anesthesia. For those who dread injections, I’d have to say that underarm injections are not particularly painful, though injections in the palms and soles are definitely so. The effects of the Botox injections in the underarms are usually felt in 2-4 days, and most patients report a high success rate. The minimizing of perspiration also rids a patient of underarm odor, which is doubly satisfying.

However, a huge drawback of Botox treatment is that it has only limited effect. A repeat dose may be required as early as 4 months after the first, though the average patient reports that the effects of the first injection last approximately 6 months. Additionally, though higher doses of Botox can lengthen that timeframe, it will push up what is already a very expensive treatment, as well as leave the patient vulnerable to antibody formation. Also, as with iontophoresis, pregnancy, lactation, and motor neuron disease disqualify a patient from receiving Botox injections.

Surgery: The most usual form of surgery to control excessive underarm perspiration is ETS (Endoscopic Thoracic Sympathectomy), but it should only be viewed as a last resort. The two most performed versions of ETS are clipping and cutting. In the clipping method, a titanium clip is placed across a section of the sympathetic nerves to hamper the transmission of signals to the sweat glands. A variation of this method is the graduated clipping, where the titanium clip is placed in a ‘graduated’ manner so that neural transmissions are affected but the nerve is not crushed. This kind of clipping is thought to potentially leave the way open for the nerve to reactivate itself if the clip is removed.

In the cutting method, the sympathetic nerves are cut using sharp scissors. This technique is easier to perform than clipping, but it can potentially damage surrounding tissues and nervous structures, and is an irreversible process. Besides, there is a greater risk of compensatory sweating (sweating in other, larger areas of the body) and other side effects such as internal bleeding and neck pain.

Bloating and PMS!

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

As a therapist working with women for over 15 years, I noticed that a significant number of women would not even think of introspecting their PMS during a therapeutic session. They just take it for granted that it is part of being a woman and nothing can be done about it but to suffer and endure. As higher philosophy puts it: “Suffering is only good if it helps you stop suffering!”

After solving my own PMS sufferings which medicine had no solution for, I started to research the subject and began asking questions to every woman and man willing to talk.

Did you know that 40% of the women I surveyed believed they suffered some type of PMS from mild to severe? Among them, 68% reported feeling bloated around the time of their menstrual cycles?

Of all those women, 39% had headaches, 45% craved foods that are not always beneficial for their health so not surprising 42% of them gained weight. In short, this time of the month is not a funny ride for a majority of us. On top of that, 57% reported feeling depressed and 65% feeling fatigued. No wonder women bitch about their menstrual cycles and medicine has come up with an intravenous shot that stops them from menstruating for 3 months at a time! That solution is ideal for some, but you will allow me to question the pertinence from a health point of view. Are we not “playing” with nature a little too much? However, those who are in favor of a more holistic approach are left totally unsatisfied.

As a result of my introspecting and researching the whole subject, I found each woman had her own underlying cause or causes. Once they were guided to connect within, symptoms either disappeared totally or reduced each month to help them become PMS free!

I urge all women to look at my new approach helping them regain control and master this time of their life that happens on an average about 500 to 600 times over their reproductive life span. Those numbers are not a permission to keep on suffering. We continue suffering because we lack the knowledge and comprehension of why we go through such phases.

I urge you to find out what type of PMS you are going through and pick a moment to understand the hidden messages behind such turmoil and confusion.

Before going after that 4.5 interest rate, do some homework on Internet banks

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

Boca Raton, Fla — One day you might be at work or at home surfing the Internet and run into an advertisement stating that a particular bank offers a 4.8 annual percentage rate for their savings accounts. You may be thinking to yourself, wow that percentage rate is much higher than my 0.35 percentage rate at my local bank. Better yet, this bank does not require a minimum deposit or length of time like many conventional bank CD’s. Is this too good to be true? There has to be a catch! With a little bit of research you are able to confirm the information in the ad, but the offer is from an Internet Bank. Should I put my money into a bank that I cannot touch, and see every day as I go past driving to work? Welcome to the wave of new ways to bank; Internet Banking.

Why do online banks offer higher than regular bank establishments?

According to an article published in the March 17, 2006 online edition of The Baltimore Sun, online bank rates can offer higher rates because they do not have the overhead of brick-and-mortar branches. They do not have the expense of purchasing property and constructing a building. For the computer savvy consumer, these great banking services are a mouse click or two away and available 24 hours a day. Comparisons of these banking services are at your fingertips.

With all the different Internet schemes going on in this day in age, there are very legitimate reasons why people are scared or even paranoid to deal with their finances online. Phishing is one scheme that has made people very wary. In a typical phishing case, you will receive an e-mail that appears to come from a reputable company that you recognize and do business with, such as your financial institution. In the e-mail, phrases such as (immediate attention required) or (please contact immediately about your account) among many others will appear. The e-mail will then have a link directing you to a phony website where they can take all your private information. Then we all know what happens from there. This is why people hesitate to handle their finances on the Internet. So how can I make sure any bank (including an Internet Bank) is legitimate?

Make sure the bank is FDIC insured.

According to the official site, www.fdic.gov, there are four major tips to find out if the bank is legit or not.

. Confirm that an online bank is legitimate and that your deposits are insured.

. Read key information about the bank posted on the website.
o Most online banks have an “about us” section that will describe their institution.
o You may find the official name, the address of the bank headquarters and if they FDIC insured.

. Protect yourself from fraudulent websites.
o Watch out for sites trying to copycat online bank sites in intent of gathering your information.
o Always make sure you type the web address correctly.

. Verify the bank’s insurance status.
o Look for the familiar FDIC logo or the words “Member FDIC” or “FDIC Insured” on the web site, but beware that some bogus bank sites that phish for your account information will put a fake FDIC logo on their site.
o Go to the FDIC search engine and check to see if the bank is insured by the FDIC at http://www2.fdic.gov/idasp/main.asp?formname=inst

As of this month, according Bankrate.com, HSBC was offering a 4.7 introductory rate. ING DIRECT was offering a 3.93 introductory rate. Almost all of the online banks were in the threes and fours. So as you can see – there is a great opportunity to save quite a bit of cash. So, why not put your money to work for you? But make sure when you are considering Internet banking, do your homework first.

The VoIP Insurgency

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

There was a dreadful time in history when the telecom regime (local phone companies) held consumers captive by charging high prices for phone service. To make matters worse, this regime would nickel and dime consumers to death for additional features like voicemail, call waiting, caller ID, and call forwarding. Not to mention their customer service or lack thereof, was and still is a horrifying experience. This long history of monopolizing the telecommunication industry has finally come to an end. It’s time for a regime change. Consumers now have an alternative – introducing VoIP.

VoIP, also known as Voice over Internet Protocol, is a technology that allows you to make phone calls over an existing Internet connection instead of a regular (analog) phone line. Some services that use VoIP only allow you to call other people using the same service, usually done when making PC to PC phone calls. Other services allow you to call anyone, anywhere (as long as they have a telephone number) including: local & long distance, mobile, and international numbers. This type of VoIP service allows you to use a traditional phone that plugs directly into a phone adapter.

The great thing about VoIP is that all the additional features are included in the monthly fee. These features include: unlimited local & long distance calls into the US & Canada, voicemail, call waiting, caller id, three-way, just to name a few. Most VoIP service providers typically charge between $20 and $25 dollars a month.

VoIP is a revolutionary technology that has the potential to completely redesign the entire world’s communication infrastructure. VoIP providers have already been around for several years and growing at a tremendous rate. Currently, there are over 6 million users of VoIP worldwide and that numbers is growing exponentially.

FAQ about VoIP

1. Can you provide me with a brief explanation of VoIP? VoIP allows you to make phone calls over an existing Internet connection. VoIP converts a voice signal (analog) from your phone into a digital signal that then travels over the Internet to the desired location. It then converts the digital signal back to analog so the person on the other end can hear what you are saying.

2. How do I make a VoIP phone call? The first step of making a VoIP phone call is to subscribe to a service. Once you sign up for service, the VoIP service provider will then send you a broadband phone adapter, which plugs directly into your internet connection. You will then have to plug your existing telephone into the phone adapter. Lastly, all you have to do is pick up the phone and dial the number.

3. What kind of equipment do I need to use VoIP? You need three things in order to use VoIP: 1) A high-speed Internet connection (either cable or DSL); A broadband phone adapter (provided by the VoIP service provider); and 3) any standard (analog or digital) phone. Is there a difference when placing a local or long distance call when using VoIP? Not really. VoIP phone calls are made just the same way as traditional calls are made. When dialing local calls, all you have to do is dial 7 digits (555-1212) and when dialing long distance, all you have to do is dial 11 digits (1-408-555-1212).

4. Can I call anyone using VoIP? Yes. You can call anyone, anywhere as long as they have a valid phone number. It can be a local call, long distance call, international call, cell phone, toll free, 911 (assuming they have E911 capability)and 411 directory assistance. Most VoIP providers will not allow calls to 900 or 976 phone numbers, nor will they accept collect calls.

5. What are some advantages of using VoIP? 1. Cost – Most VoIP providers charge between $20 and $25 a month. 2. Unlimited calling in the U.S and Canada. 3. All the features are included (voicemail, caller id, call waiting, 3-way, call forwarding and much more) 4. VoIP is portable. You can take the phone adapter anywhere where there is an existing Internet connection, plug it in and make calls if you were at home. 5. The ability to choose your own area code. You can live in New York and choose to have a California phone number.

6. Are there any disadvantages of using VoIP? Yes. (a). If the power goes out in your home you will also lose your Internet connection, which means that your phone service will also be down. Some VoIP service providers offer a feature that allows customers to designate a forwarding number if their Internet connection goes down for any reason.

(b) Not all VoIP Providers offer E911. This means that if you call 911 from your VoIP phone, it may not go to the local public dispatcher. Rather, it will get routed to an answering service first.

(c) Call Quality. At certain times of the day, the call quality of phone conversations will suffer. This could be due to bandwidth sharing, or slow Internet connection.

7. Do I need a computer to use VoIP? No. Although most VoIP customers do have a computer, one is not needed. The broadband phone adapter simply plugs into a router (or modem) to get a connection.

8. Can I use VoIP when I travel? Yes. You can use your VoIP service wherever you travel as long as you have a high speed Internet connection available and you bring your broadband phone adapter and phone with you.

9. How will I know if someone is calling me from a VoIP phone? You won’t. The VoIP phone works just like a traditional phone. The quality and experience is that good.

Join the rebellion aimed at overthrowing the telecommunications industry by force. Switch to VoIP today and start saving tomorrow.

Emotional Strengthening for Alzheimer’s Family Caregivers 3: Our Thinking Can Create our Stress

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

Our Thoughts Can Trigger Our Emotions

In the previous section we began loking at a journal written by hary, an Alzheimer’s family caregiver. The journal illustrated the connection between what we think and how our thoughts make us feel.

There’s another very important point from Harry’s journal. That is the fact that our thoughts trigger our emotions. When our thoughts are more sensible, we tend to have more moderate feelings. On the other hand, when our thoughts are more extreme we become more severely distressed and upset. And we lose focus and energy.

Don’t believe it? Try this experiment. Take some sheets of paper, and begin to keep a journal of your thoughts. Use this outline:

Thinking/Feeling Diary

Each time you have an emotional flareup or a situation worth investigating, start by filling out the following:

“What am I feeling?” “What is going on?” “What are my thoughts?”

Each time you feel an especially positive emotion, write it in your journal. Then, write down what is going on around you-what actually happened? Then, write down all the thoughts, ideas, images, self-talk, and so on that you are having. Do not worry about making the journal look perfect, just note down as many of your thoughts as you can.

Now, each time you feel an especially negative emotion, do the same exercise. Track your thoughts. Before long, you can begin to notice for yourself the very close relationship there is between how you feel and what you think. You can become more aware of how the way you think influences the way you feel. This awareness can be an extremely powerful tool, as we shall see soon.

Here is an example from someone else’s journal:

“What am I feeling? ” Contentment

“What is going on?” Good morning with my dad

“What are my thoughts?” I can enjoy this time. Seize the moment!

This example illustrates the relationship between sensible thinking and moderate emotions. The next example illustrates how extreme thinking can trigger emotional distress:

“What am I feeling?” Anxious and upset

“What is going on?” Dad is repeating himself again

“What are my thoughts?” Will this ever stop?I can’t stand this! It’s excruciating!

Conclusion: Sensible Thoughts Trigger Moderate Emotions, Extreme Thoughts Trigger Distress and Upset Feelings

This is a very important idea to bear in mind, so it’s worth repeating. The fact is that the more sensibly we think about things, the more in control we feel- and the more strength and power we will have to deal with life’s stresses and demands.

On the other hand, when we have extreme thinking, we feel worse and we have less control. This is especially important when you think about Alzheimer’s disease.

Why?

Alzheimer’s disease puts many extraordinary and continuous demands upon even the strongest of caregivers. The disease progresses, and as it progresses, the person with Alzheimer’s needs more and more structure and help. The stresses and demands on the caregiver increase.

How will extreme thinking affect a caregiver’s energy? If the best caregiver in the world tortures him/herself with extreme thinking about these very real stresses, he/she will only end up feeling weaker and worse. It’s kind of like being punished again and again for the same thing. Another way of looking at it is that extreme thinking can make you put $5,000 worth of pain into a $500 problem.

Why is this concept so important? Because it gives us the power to change what we can change. In this case, we can change how we think about things. We can’t change many of the realities of Alzheimer’s disease. But if we can learn to think more sensibly, we can reduce our distressed reactions, and increase our personal power in order to be the best caregivers we can.

We can change our thinking and that can change how we feel-and that changes our power.

You can learn more about rational versus irrational thinking by reading the works of Albert Ellis, Ph.D.

Liberate your Time by Developing your Company Organization Chart

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

Your company’s organizational strategy is centred around the development and communication of your Organization Chart. The Organization Chart takes the form of a graphical representation of the positions in your company. The top Position in the company (i.e. CEO or General Manager) is placed at the top of the Organization Chart. The various layers of management and supporting Positions are then arranged under the relevant management Positions right down to the lowest levels of the Organization.

Your Organization Chart not only defines the Positions in your business but the Employees assigned to those Positions. The Organization Chart clearly communicates the management and reporting structure of your business, specifically who an Employee assigned to a Position reports to directly.

It is extremely useful when developing your Organization Chart to take the time to design how you want your company to be structured when it is finished the Business Development Process. This approach will have the effect of setting a path for the development of your company. Once defined you and your Employees take the actions required to make it a reality.

Develop the Positions in your Organization Chart to be representative of specific work roles in your company. You should not develop your Organization Chart based on the employees you currently have in the company, rather you should develop the Positions based on logical groupings of work. One of the benefits of developing an Organization Chart is that it enables your company to become less dependent on specific employees and more dependent on the structure that you have developed.

An Effective Organization Chart: – Communicates to your staff where you plan to take the business. – Makes it easy to show new employees where they fit into the business. – Gives you the opportunity to evaluate your current employees and how they fit into the future of your business. – Shows existing employees what options they have for career advancement. – Leaves no question as to who an Employee assigned to a Position should be reporting to.

Depending on where you are in the development of your company you will probably be filling many of the positions yourself. By choosing a position and actually defining and documenting the systems the position is responsible for, you can readily employ someone to fill the position. This allows you to begin the development of other positions in the company.

You will get to a point where all of the positions in the Organization Chart are developed and you will have employees assigned to these positions. This allows you to begin taking a more strategic role in the development of your business or to take a step back and enjoy the freedom that a well defined business allows you. This is a great place to reach and is a huge step in your business’s development and your own personal development.

Be The Media’s Dream Guest! Publicity Pro Tips For Smash Hit Success!

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

Thanks all for your wonderful interest in our publicity tips. The series is a set of tried and true publicity tips to use while working with the media. You’ll learn 4 of the top pre-interview tips, on-camera or on-air tips, media etiquette tips & lots more PR pro tips to help position you as the media’s dream guest!

Don’t miss this series. When the media calls, you’ll be ready!

TIP #1 Don’t Try To Change The Segment Or Story Idea

During the pre-interview with the producer or journalist, please do not attempt to influence the producer or journalist to slant or change the original segment idea. This is because the article, story or segment idea is most likely already set in stone by Managing Editors or Executive Producers and your contact has very little flexibility. They are assigned to develop a story or segment idea according to a specific set of directives and appreciate your support in moving the story or segment forward.

Always give the media the info they are looking for first so they can complete their assignment otherwise, they might decide to move on to another expert! If you do a great job for them, that is, you are on target and on message without meandering off topic or discussing topics that fall outside the scope of the placement, they will use you again!

Of course, if they ask you about other ideas you may have, feel free to give them your best stuff!

TIP #2

Never Cancel A Segment Or Appointment With The Media!

Once you represent that are able for the media opportunity, please do not change your mind because the producer or journalist moves immediately to finalize the media placement on their end.

If you pull out you upset the booking process you leave the producer or journalist in a tough spot. This business is built on trust so never do anything to jeopardize the trust the media has in you.

When you make a commitment, stick to it, even if something comes up that you feel is more important. Your word should be worth gold in this industry!

TIP #3

Prepare Talking Points For The Pre-Interview With The Journalist Or Producer

Prepare your talking points in advance of your pre-interview or interview with the media. This way, you will appear to have command over your area of expertise and knowledgeable about the issue under discussion. You will avoid stumbling for thoughts or concepts.

If the media doubts your ability or expertise in the pre-interview, they will not use you for the placement. They simply have no choice. Their job is to book top qualified experts and if you indicate you are not that, they have to move on. As Annie Jennings PR has said for many years, think of any contact you have with the media as an audition. Everything you do is evaluated by the media with the thought in mind – is this person the perfect expert for the story or the segment?

You can make the media contact confident in choosing YOU if you are ready and prepared to discuss the topic. Create at least five discussion points on the topic before you speak to the producer or journalist.

You’ll be happy you did!

TIP #4

Make Sure The Media Has Your FAST Contact Info!

Always provide the media with your contact info including your cell phone and fast contact info. As we mentioned, when the media moves, it moves fast. If you are actively seeking PR or are booked for a media opportunity already, keep yourself available and able to be reached immediately. If you give out your cell phone be sure it is working properly and also check your messages immediately so you don’t miss a thing.

If you are traveling to a location for a TV or radio segment ask for the emergency contact info to the producer and of course, only use it for emergencies. This way, if you have trouble finding the location you know how to reach your media contact immediately.

How To Set Up Your Squeeze Page

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

We are all working our buts off, or so we think, trying to make a living or an extra income on the internet. Many of you are affiliate marketers promoting someone else’s products, through your web pages, websites or PPC campaigns.

I am quite sure that you have heard by now that you have to use squeeze pages in your marketing efforts. You may, or may not, have given it a look or a thought, but few have implemented this marketing tool.

Why?

It is extra work, you are very busy just getting your ads to work never mind tracking, doing split testing and priming every other ad to get the best results for your money. Which of course is the way to do it.

But think for a moment, if you could half this work, take 25% off your costs, and still make 25% to 50% more profit, would you be interested?

That is the beauty of squeeze pages also known as landing pages. At the beginning you will have to put more time and effort in creating and refining them, but once you’ve got it all up and running you can certainly expect more profits.

The basic purpose of a squeeze page is to gather email addresses and build your list. The list is where the money is, all successful internet marketers will tell you that. By building a list through squeeze pages you will gain the knowledge of who the people are that are interested in a specific type of product or service.

So the next time you market a new product in this line, you already have interested people who can easily become customers.

Now you see, the squeeze page is an essential tool in any marketers arsenal of marketing armory.

Now let’s look at the elements of a squeeze page.

The all important heading. It has the same purpose here as on a sales page, you have to catch the attention of the reader to read on.

A sub-heading leading your prospect into the page. A short sales message containing 5 to 10 benefits of the product you are promoting. A submission form where he or she can enter their details. After submission they are taken to the sales page.

So,. how am I going to write a sales letter on my page asking for a name and email address?

The best way of going about this is to offer something for free, a report, ebook, some useful software, subscription to a newsletter, anything relating to the product you are selling.

Lets look at an example of a squeeze page for a new keyword analyzing software program.

In Search Of That Perfect Keyword Phrase Getting All The Sales?

How would you feel if I told you now you can:

A very valid argument is that if I have a squeeze page that is not well written, a person landing on the page might just leave the entire site and could have purchased if he or she was sent straight to the sales page.

There is however a way around this problem. If you feel uncertain about your writing or asking someone to give you their email address, just add a button with text below the form saying something like ‘click here to go directly to the product page’.

Be assured though that by building your list will ensure more customers and sales for your products. It will also give you the opportunity to get to know and communicate with your subscribers.

Don’t obliterate them with product emails every day, only send them quality products addressing their specific needs, that you either use yourself, or know is good, and write a small review on how it has helped you solving a certain problem.

Long term good relations with your subscribers will turn into good long term good relationships with paying clients.

5 Ways to Kick-Start a Low Fat Weight Loss Diet

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

The most popular weight loss diets today are the Atkins diet, South Beach diet and the GI diet. However, more traditional low fat diets still have a great deal to offer. While the more popular diets, or fad diets, are mostly based on lowering the intake of carbohydrates and actually recommend the intake of some fatty foods, many dieticians have long been of the opinion that a low fat and high fiber diet is the best combination for weight loss and health.

There are countless diet books that cover the low fat weight loss diet. Most maintain that a very low level of fat together with an increased amount of dietary fiber, such as whole meal bread, pasta, and brown rice, would aid weight loss and help you to maintain an ideal weight.

Here are five easy ways to jump start your low fat weight loss diet:

1. One of the easiest ways to start a low fat weight loss diet is to cut down on the amount of fried foods that you eat. There are alternative ways of cooking most foods that are normally fried. For example, french fries can be baked in the oven thereby using a very small amount of fat as compared to deep-frying.

2. Another easy way to get a good start with a low fat weight loss diet is to buy a steamer. This is a very quick and efficient way of cooking foods with a minimal loss of vitamins and minerals. Steaming is a great alternative to the deep fat fryer and provides a simple way of cooking many healthy meals.

3. Lowering your intake of butter and margarine is another simple way to lower your intake of fat and help with your weight loss plan. You don’t even have to change what you eat. You can make a big difference by either spreading the butter or margarine very thinly or just leaving it our altogether.

4. When cooking meat make sure to remove some of the fat before you start cooking. Also, if you grill the meat instead of frying it, you have removed a substantial amount of fat and this will help you meet your weight loss goal.

5. Cutting down on eating pastry is a great way to help with weight loss. Pastries contain a large amount of fat, so just by choosing a lower fat alternative you can make a significant difference.

There are some fats that many dieticians believe are good for you, such as olive oil and oily fish and these can and should be included in any low fat diet. It is really a question of balance. A good low fat weight loss diet can be a very healthy way to lose weight and maintain your ideal weight. Your doctor should be able to provide you with good advice on the best way to choose a diet and how best to make it work for you.

Just remember, reducing fat in your diet does not have to be complicated and there are some very simple things that you can do to make a difference and meet your weight loss goal.

How Exactly Does Fiber Help Your Health??

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

When you go to the doctor does he/she ask you about how much fiber you are getting? It seems that fiber is being discussed as a possible solution to everything, including the ozone layer. Okay, maybe not the ozone problem, but it is looking like if you get enough fiber in your diet, your chances reduce dramatically of acquiring many diseases you could be susceptible to as you get older.

What exactly does fiber help to prevent? Studies have shown that a diet with plenty of fiber in it can reduce the chances of heart disease (by cutting cholesterol), diabetes (by slowing the release of sugars from foods into the blood), diverticulosis, and other diseases. The thought that it helps prevent cancer are conflicting, but by eating the foods you need to acquire fiber (fruits, vegetables, and whole grains) you also get a lot of vitamins and minerals that are very beneficial to the body. Bonus, baby!!!

Basically, what fiber does is go through the intestines and pick up all the wastes and toxins along the way. It passes through quickly and doesn’t allow the waste time to settle and develop into health problems such as cancer or tumors. Also, if you want weight loss, the intake of fiber helps give you a fullness feeling and as a result you don’t want to eat as much. Thus, because you’re not eating as much, you lose weight. Pretty nice, huh!

Most Americans get on average 10 to 15 grams a day of fiber, but it is usually on the low end. Experts say that you should up that amount to around 30 to 35 grams a day for optimal cancer prevention and health benefits. A lot of Americans eat diets that are high in saturated fat, protein, and processed carbohydrates. You really can’t find a lot of fiber in those types of foods. Some Americans couldn’t identify a fruit or a vegetable if it were in front of them. So the obvious question would be, how does one change his/her diet to get enough fiber?

Good sources of fiber can be found in the following sources: apples, citrus fruits, strawberries, oats, oatmeal, potatoes, pasta, and dried beans. These are soluble fibers, meaning they dissolve in water. These fibers help lower the cholesterol and give you that fullness feeling mentioned earlier. Other sources of fiber that help remove wastes and possibly prevent cancer are: whole wheat pasta, whole wheat grains, and crunchy vegetables. These are insoluble fibers meaning they don’t dissolve in water. They help with waste removal as well as possible cancer prevention. Really try to avoid foods that are processed such as white breads and white pastas.

All in all you want to make sure you get a lot of fiber in your diet, but don’t neglect your proteins and carbohydrates so you can really get a balanced diet and acquire the nutrients your body needs to run efficiently. If you are looking for fiber supplements go to http://fitnessplanning.com/supplements.htm and look at the information on BiosLife2. Don’t neglect the fiber sources mentioned above, but if you can’t get enough from those sources, BiosLife2 can definitely help you out.

Health Benefits Of Yoga

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

Yoga is an ancient way, practiced for thousands of years, steeped in tradition and, to most people, a mysterious enigma. When practitioners would speak of the many benefits they had experienced in both mental and physical health, yoga would seem to be both a perfect practice, or one whose claims were impossible to believe.

Practitioners of yoga, or yogis/yogins (yogini for the ladies) would speak of the unification of mind, spirit, and body. The belief was that when these were brought into balance the persons mental and physical health would improve. The word “harmony” would be heard a lot, as would be “healing”, again, applied both to the body and the mind.

Until recently, you could only go by what someone who had personal experience could tell you. There was a reasonable amount of skepticism that yoga could actually be as beneficial to your mental and physical health as its proponents claimed.

However, in the last few years, scientific study, observation, and measurement have proven that yoga can indeed have specific observable affects on your health. It has been shown that body, mind, and spirit do work together and when the effective level of each is raised, the person experiences a much better life in terms of health, happiness, and harmony within himself or herself and with the world in general.

An article published by Johns Hopkins states:

“Over 75 scientific trials have been published on yoga in major medical journals. These studies have shown that yoga is a safe and effective way to increase physical activity that also has important psychological benefits due to its meditative nature.”

In our modern society, we are likely to look at yoga first as an “exercise program”. As with any good exercise program, yoga can increase muscle strength and respiratory endurance, improve flexibility, and promote balance. It also tends to lessen pain in those afflicted with arthritis and helps to increase energy levels in those who practice it.

Yogis and yoginis also have long reported increases in what might be called positive mental states, along with decreases in negative mental states. They tend to report a greater level of optimism, a renewed or improved enthusiasm for life, and a higher sense of alertness and awareness of themselves and the world and people around them. They have also reported decreased levels of agressiveness, anxiety, and excitability, as well as lowered levels of physical complaints and illnesses.

Scientific observation and testing is now bearing out what practitioners have been saying for years. Studies on the biological, psychological, and biochemical aspects of yoga have shown a wide range of positive results for most who take up the practice of yoga.

When practiced over time, yoga tends to level pulse rate, stabilize the nervous system, normalize stomach and digestive activity, level hormones, and increase joint range of motion. It increases energy, endurance, immunity, and cardiovascular efficiency. It improves eye-hand coordination, reaction time, dexterity, and helps the person to get more restful and restorative sleep.

Yoga also seems to have psychological benefits as well. practitioners and those who study them report that it helps you become more aware of your body, accept yourself more readily, improve your concentration, memory, learning and mood.

Additional benefits of yoga as compared to other exercise programs is that it massages internal organs in a way that other programs do not, and produces a detoxifying effect. Some speculate that this may lead to delaying aging.

Finally, yoga can be practiced almost anywhere, anytime, by anyone, and requires no special equipment. It does not even require special training! While having an expert teach you personally would be best, a careful reading of books on the subject and a DVD or two can get you started. However, our modern citizens tend to throw themselves headfirst into new projects. Not only is this completely opposite from the philosophy and aims of yoga, but it can invite injury and strain. The people in the books and DVDs have been doing yoga for years. It is highly unlikely that you will immediately be able to duplicate their ability to achieve the positions they demonstrate. Just do the best you can, and then do it again tomorrow, and the next day, and the next day…

As always, before beginning any physical fitness program, check with your doctor first to make sure it is okay for you to start. Once started, however, be aware that there are people in their 70s, 80s and 90s doing yoga. You will not be alone.

Do you know what they do to your milk?

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

Going to the grocery store and picking up that gallon jug of pure white cow’s milk might seem innocent and simple enough, but there is more going on in the jug of milk than you ever knew! From the poisonous plastic your milk is packed in, to the way the milk is processed, you would be amazed at what happens to that simple white liquid as it makes it way from the cow to your refrigerator. It’s a scary journey.

In the old days, when grandma and grandpa lived on the farm, the milk they drank was far different from the chemical concoction we call milk today. In those days, cows roamed free on the farm, eating natural grasses, and drinking pure, clean water. The milk was collected once or twice a day, by hand. Some of the cream was skimmed off the top for butter (again made by hand), and the rest was consumed as whole, raw milk. It was generally consumed by the family and perhaps offered for sale to the neighbors.

Today, we have huge mechanized dairy factories where cows are methodically fed chemical-laced food, injected with anti-biotics and hormones and milked by machines. The milk is loaded into huge diesel trailers and trucked to large milk factories where the milk from thousands of cows is mixed, processed, packaged, and trucked again to a store near you.

What impact does this have on your health? Well, actually quite a lot. The milk we are told to consume today is not-nearly as nutritious as milk in the past. All those chemicals and toxins floating in the milk “soup” we find in our supermarkets today, is not the pure milk our ancestor drink.

Packaging is also another problem. In the past, milk was taken from the cow, immediately placed in clean glass bottles (bottles washed by hand by grandma using natural soaps) and refrigerated immediately in a dark refrigerator. Today, milk is collected into huge vats with wide variations in temperature, pumped into tanker trucks, driven for sometimes hours to the processing plant, and then finally separated and packaged.

The type of packaging is important as well. Just recently, scientists are discovering that plastic containers (or plastic milk jugs) are actually harmful to the milk and to the people who consume the milk stored in plastic! Not only do poisonous chemicals leach from the plastic into the milk, but plastic milk containers allow light to pass through. Light is a natural enemy of milk! The exposure to light can actually oxidize the milk in the jug. And the light damage is not only caused by sunlight, but also by the fluorescent lighting used in the refrigerated section of the grocery store.

Exposure to light causes the milk to taste bad and causes a degradation of the vitamins in the milk. In fact, exposure to as little of five to fifteen minutes of sunlight can degrade the quality of the milk. And paper cartons are not immune to this light-induced oxidation. If the light is intense enough, oxidation can even occur in paper milk cartons.

We’ll explore the problems with our modern dairy practices in future articles. But for now, milk doesn’t necessarily do a body good.

The Basics of the Hysterosalpingogram (HSG)

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

When you go to a fertility doctor or clinic, they will more than likely begin by doing some basic diagnostic blood work and testing. One of the first tests typically performed is a Hysterosalpingogram or HSG. While you have to wait for results from other tests, the HSG is one the few fertility testing procedures that provides you with instant results. The Hysterosalpingogram is used to determine if there are any blockages in either of your fallopian tubes and it will also show if there are any uterus abnormalities or fibroids.

The HSG is usually done at a local hospital’s surgical/surgery center, although many fertility clinics have the necessary equipment to perform the test right in the clinic as it is a fairly common fertility test. The HSG is a quick procedure that typically takes less than 15 minutes from start to finish. During the procedure, you will like on your back on a table with your legs raised. The doctor will inject contrast die through your cervix into your uterus while simultaneously taking an x-ray of the area. The contrast die will spread through your uterus and tubes and will show if there are any abnormalities or blockages in the tubes. In many cases, you will be able to watch the die spreading on a TV in the room. I was able to watch the procedure and the doctor explained what was happening and what he saw as the die spread.

Your doctor or clinic will probably advice you that during the HSG you “might” feel a “slight discomfort”. I have found through talking with other women in my fertility support group, that the discomfort or pain associated with the procedure is different for every woman. A few women stated that the procedure did not bother them at all and one friend said she came up off the table when they inserted the die. I fell somewhere in between the two extremes. Because my tubes were blocked, the doctors said that added to the pain I felt and that women without any blockages typically feel less discomfort with the HSG. Most doctors will prescribe something like a prescription strength Tylenol for you to take before the procedure. I had a second HSG after I had surgery to unblock one tube and remove the other. My doctor let me take pain medication left over from my surgery before the second HSG. One of the girls in my support group was very scared to have the HSG done because of the uncertainty of the pain. She knew she would not be able to relax during the procedure, which is important, so her doctor prescribed one valium for her before the procedure.

You might experience slight uterine cramping for a few hours after the procedure and this is normal. You should also wear a panty liner for a few days as some of the die might come back out of your cervix.

The results of the HSG are very important in helping to determine your next steps or procedures in the fertility process. A normal HSG that shows no blockages or abnormalities rules out blocked tubes as a possible cause for your fertility problems and your doctor will begin further testing. If the HSG shows a blockage in one or both of your fallopian tubes, your doctor will discuss your alternatives with you. This boils down to two choices: you attempt to unblock the tubes through laparoscopic surgery which will increase your probability of pregnancy or your can choose to not have the surgery, keeping the blockages in place and decreasing the probability of pregnancy. Whether or not to have the surgery is obviously a personal decision and you need to take the time to decide what is right for you.

A blocked tube carries some risks and complications. First of all, when one or both of your tubes are blocked, you are at an increased risk for having an ectopic or tubal pregnancy. This is a very serious condition, especially if the tube ruptures. The second complication involved in a blocked tube is that most doctors will not do an IUI or IVF procedure when a tube is blocked as it will decrease your chances of a successful procedure and can actually work against it. For instance, when you do an IUI with a blocked tube and the sperm is injected directly into the uterus, the chances of the sperm and egg meeting are slim to none since the tube is blocked and the egg and sperm can’t get through it to meet. If you do an IVF with a blocked fallopian tube, the blocked tube can cause fluid to back up into the uterus which impedes the embryo from implanting in the uterus.

If you decide to have surgery to unblock the tubes, your doctor will likely schedule a second HSG once you have healed from the surgery. They do this to make sure that the tube is open and that the die passes through the way it should. This second HSG will help determine what your next step will be.

Having gone through the HSG, I want to pass two things that I learned on to you. First of all, take someone with you when you have the procedure done. When I went the first time, I insisted on going by myself because I felt like everything was going to be ok. My husband would have gladly gone, but I guess I was being stubborn. Anyway, when things weren’t ok, I really wished that I had had him come with me. Second of all, if your doctor offers you any pain medication before the procedure, take it. You never know what your pain or discomfort experience is going to be like with the HSG, so it is best to be prepared for anything.

For many, Hysterosalpingogram is the most important procedure that they have done during the fertility process. For me, it was the most important procedure done during our fertility journey as it gave us instant results and instant answers as to what was going on to prevent us from getting pregnant. Although, slightly uncomfortable, it is over quickly and you are able to walk away from the HSG knowing what your next step will be.

The Bloodhound – A Friendly Breed with a Famous Nose

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

The Bloodhound or St. Hubert Hound is an ancient breed that dates back over 1500 years. The name Bloodhound refers to their pure blood and pure breeding standards. This large scent hound ways between 70-115 pounds and measures 23″ to 27″ in length. They are known for their excellent tracking ability that can be matched by no other dog.

In fact, it is due to this innate, unmatched tracking ability that they are the only dogs whose tracking testimony is permitted in the court of law. Tracking trails performed by police Bloodhounds are permissible in court. A Bloodhound by the name of Nick Carter is credited for finding over 600 criminals. He reportedly once followed a trail that was over 100 hours old to catch a fugitive. Sherlock Holmes was often referred to as the human Bloodhound because of his excellent investigative work.

Bloodhounds are recognized by the AKC. Their permissible coat colors include liver and tan, black and tan, or red and tawny. White flecks or a small amount of white on the chest and feet is allowed. Their short, smooth and hard coat is easy to groom and requires only minimal grooming with a hound glove. They only need bathed when necessary.

Although energetic and intense when working, the Bloodhound is gentle and friendly when they are home with their family. They are laid back and easy going when they are not working and are wonderful with children. They do best with other dogs and pets that they are raised with from puppyhood. This is particularly true for non-canine pets as they have an innate tracking/chasing drive. They tend to be head strong and are difficult to train. No matter how well trained they are, if they find an interesting scent to follow, they will follow it until they are satisfied and will only stop when they are ready to stop no matter how many times you call them. For this reason they should be walked on a leash and kept in a fenced in yard. Even though they are not a high energy dog at home, they still require regular exercise and play. They love time to explore outside and are best in homes with a yard. They are not meant for apartment life.

The Bloodhounds ancestry dates back over 1500 years. They are often called St. Hubert Hounds because the St. Hubert monks in Belgium are credited with perfecting the breed to what we know it as today. They were brought to the United States from England. They were traditionally considered hunting and tracking dogs and are still used for these things today as well as police work and family companionship.

Perfect as hunting dog or companion dog for active families, the Bloodhound is an intelligent, curious breed that loves to explore the countryside with their family by day and relax inside with their family by night. Good with children, the Bloodhound works well with family life. If you are a family that enjoys outdoor activities and are looking for a dog to share in all aspects of family life, the Bloodhound might be a good choice for you.

Are Your Weight Loss Efforts Doomed to Failure?

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

You want to be successful in weight loss. And to be successful there are two things you absolutely must do. You have to follow these two simple but extremely important points.

One, you have to follow a program that you can stick with, and number two, you have to include foods that you really like. Got that? A program you can stick with-and foods that you like to eat.

Number one is so simple that you might say it is too obvious. Of course a weight loss program will not work if you don’t stick with it. But the reality is that a lot of the programs that are popular today suffer from this one point.

Look at some of the most popular current diets: Atkins, South Beach Diet, Ornish, Zone, Weight Watchers, and others. You will see that one major problem is that most people just can’t stick with the diet. They might start out fine, but soon they fizzle out.

This has been studied a number of times, and it always comes out the same. Take Atkins for instance. A study by Consumer’s Union in June 2005 noted that those on the Atkins program had good results initially but tended to have more difficulty staying with the program than people who were on other programs.

The New England Journal of Medicine came to the same conclusion. Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania found that people had good results with Atkins at first but at one year the weight loss was minimal. (A randomized trial of a low-carbohydrate diet for obesity. N Engl J Med. 2003 May 22;348(21):2082-90.) Most people just could not stick with the program long-term.

The high-fat low-carbohydrate diets all have this in common-people have a hard time staying on them for a long time. One of the main reasons is that people just don’t feel well after a while on these programs. Physically, they don’t feel well.

I have found this to be true in my own research. Patients are not able to stay with a high-fat low-carbohydrate diet for the long run. And I have never seen a patient who got lean, fit and healthy on the Atkins program.

Many of my patients will say that they have had good results with Atkins. In fact, they will usually say that they have lost weight on the Atkins program several times.

They lose weight easily at first. But then they go back to their old habits and gain the weight back. They usually gain back more weight than they lost. Then they try it again after a year or so. They lose again, but not quite so well the second time or the third time.

Many of them never lose confidence in Atkins, because they did lose some weight, after all. But the weight loss is not permanent, because it is not a sustainable program for the vast majority of people.

The second point in developing a program that you can live with is having foods that you like. It will be almost impossible for you to adopt a diet that does not include the foods that you like and that you are used to eating.

Many companies have learned this lesson when they try to introduce new foods to a market. The food that is a great success in one region is a flop when they bring it to another region of the country. It doesn’t taste right to people. It is not what they are used to eating.

It is the same when you are trying to lose weight. Are you going to give up the smoked ribs you love? Are you going to pass up turkey and stuffing on Thanksgiving when you have been eating it all your life? Or mama’s meat loaf?

No, you are not. You are not going to give up your favorite foods, whatever they are. And when you do go off your “diet” and eat these things, you will probably feel like you failed, get discouraged, and go back to your old habits. And that will be the end of your weight loss efforts.

But you shouldn’t have to give up the foods that you love. If you have a properly designed program you will be able to eat the foods you have always eaten and still take the weight off.

The key then to long term weight loss is not to jump on the latest bandwagon, or to follow the latest trend. And it is not to take any diet to an extreme, by eliminating or severely restricting food groups in your diet. That is a recipe for failure.

The only successful method in the long run is to incorporate the foods that you like and that you are used to eating into a nutrition plan that you enjoy, that works for you, and that you can stick with.

The Benefits of Colon Cleansing

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

Our bodies work in a way that is miraculous. Unfortunately, our bodies can also work against us if not taken care of properly. Each day, toxins get into our bodies and make us unhealthy. While we may not know they are there, we feel the symptoms. Feelings of constipation, diarrhea, nausea, and stomach pains may keep us awake at night and we have no energy during the day. One of the way you can help your body to eliminate built up toxins is to cleanse your colon.

The fact is your colon is intended to be your body’s elimination system. When toxins and other matter gets hung up inside, it instead becomes a holding cell. This build up creates even more toxins that can be spread throughout your body as it absorbs fluids. Each day we consume large amounts of toxic substances, such as caffeine, sugar, and hydrogenated fats. These substances are meant to pass through the colon, not sit inside. If your colon is built up with toxins and other matter, you may find yourself feeling sluggish, omitting foul-smelling stools, and possibly having more skin problems than normal.

When you start the cleansing of the colon process, you will certainly want to make changes to your diet. This includes eating adequate fiber in your diet, as well as drinking more water. This is essential in keeping a healthy colon, as well. There are herbal recipes that will also assist you in cleansing the colon, as well as killing bacteria and unwanted parasites and they can also help with the functioning of your colon muscles.

While most people often think that having a bowel movement once a day or once every two days is “normal” for them, the fact is you should be having one for each meal you consume. If you only have a bowel movement every two days, all of the toxins in the food you ate, such as all of the preservatives, are being absorbed into your body throughout this time, as well as hardening in your colon. This, of course, leaves you sluggish and perhaps will cause other problems. Once you cleanse your colon, your body will be functioning more smoothly, meaning you’ll be experiencing a lot less intestinal problems.

Another added benefit to cleansing the colon is weight loss. Because built up toxins and fecal matter slow our bodies down, it also can slow down how quickly our bodies can burn off stored body fat. Cleansing your colon allows your body to function better and you’ll soon find yourself with more energy and in-turn, burning off more body fat.

Don’t let yourself become overwrought with symptoms of having a toxic colon. It’s important to remember that detoxifying your body should not stop with your colon, as well. Toxins get built up in the liver, the kidneys, and even your skin cells.

Colon cleansing is a great way to start the process, however, to feel better and live healthier, continue on with your body cleansing and you won’t believe how much better you’ll feel.

You owe it to yourself to learn more about this exciting and new common sense approach to healthy weight loss. If you are tired of all the bologna flying around these days on weight loss and diets and have tried many things without much or any success, I invite you to visit my website for more information on this awesome concept that is literally transforming thousands of lives. I wish you all the best of success and health in your life.

Top Tips for Making Your SEO Work For You

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

If you want your website to see ranking success, then you need to make sure that your SEO experts are doing their best to provide you with search engine optimization that keeps up with today’s search engine requirements. What can you do to ensure this? Here are the top tips for you to know when your SEO is working for you, and when you need to reevaluate your optimization strategy:

Be Realistic don’t waste your efforts or time on keywords that aren’t specific. Something like Internet Success may sound very flashy, but who will use those words to search for your company. Instead, be precise about the keywords you use to optimize your site. Internet Success SEO Strategy, Internet Success Consultant, are all ways to make that term much more specific to your company.

Think Beyond Today remember that today’s search engines don’t consider a site optimized just because it has keywords in it. It takes a number of different elements, including regularly fresh content and lots of visitors. You will also need to think ahead about your business when you choose your keywords. Sure, Pink Widgets Online may seem like a great keyword today, but will it matter a year down the road? Even if you change your site’s content today, it won’t be indexed for another month or two minimum so you need to think long term when you search engine optimize.

Change Your Text this is important both for optimizing your current content and for creating additional content over time. Every page on your website should be search engine optimized with links and keywords. Sure, you may be very attached to your current content, but if it’s only working for the customers who actually land at your site, and doesn’t work for you to draw new customers through high search engine ranking, it’s not worth the time it took to type it. Instead, if you truly enjoy your current content, use that as the foundation, and build a search engine optimized copy based on what you have. Furthermore, you need to consistently update and add to your site, encouraging search engine spiders to crawl your site frequently so that it achieves the high rankings it deserves.

Refresh Your Strategy as Google finds new ways that webmasters are using to manipulate the search engine ranking process, they continually upgrade the elements measured for ranking, as well as the weight those elements have in determining the actual rank of a site for a given search word. Therefore, it is important that you keep on top of this information instead of sticking to a single strategy that may rapidly be going out of date. This includes any SEO experts you may be hiring. Make sure that they are keeping up with the latest in SEO strategies, and not sticking to the one they like the best even if it is no longer current.

SEO is something that you have to keep up as long as you have your website. This doesn’t mean that you need to spend every waking minute updating your site, but it does mean that you will need to keep up with maintaining the search engine optimization of your website for a few moments every so often. If you cannot do this yourself, then it is worth it to pay a good quality expert to do it for you.

Measure Your Success When you start really applying your different SEO strategies to your website, then you will need some way of measuring your successes and lack thereof. Don’t obsess over the search terms that did or did not land in the top 10. Instead, look at your traffic growth and your conversions over time. This is the true indicator of your efforts.

There is a limit to what is effective, and what is just overdoing it. Inform yourself about how much you should be applying to your own website, and stick to that. Instead of doing large blocks of effort, work a little bit at a time, gradually applying your upgrades, updates, and keywords.

Acne Advice

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

With all of the acne products on the market today, how do you know which one will work the best for you? Chances are that if you have acne, you have tried most of them to find the best result for your skin. How much money have you spent on products that claim to give you the result that you are hoping for? Some of the people will find a product that works great for them. Then there are the people who suffer from the constant battle of always having stubborn acne. They try several different products with little or no improvement of their overall skin condition. How do I find the right product for my skins’ special needs? If that one simple question could be answered for all of us suffering, how would it change the way we feel about ourselves? I can tell you from experience. I would feel much more self-confident. Men and women alike deal with this issue for several years of their lives. We want an honest answer, right? Well, I have made a commitment to find out what that answer is. I am researching products, gathering testimonials and asking people to share with me their experiences with the products on the market today. How many products have you experimented with? What kind of regimes have you tried? What has worked for you? Let’s get to the bottom of this problem!

I have been researching products that make claims to forever end the battle with acne. In my opinion the majority of them are liars. The good news is that we don’t have to buy into their lies anymore. We are going to find out the truth. I have been reading the sales pitches for these products. I was surprised to find out the extremes that these companies will go to sell us on their product. They will tell you about how they have researched and product tested, etc. We eat it up don’t we? We desperately want it to work. What have you been told about the products that you have used in the past? What kind of research did you do on the products that you are using now? I have learned to read the ingredients on the products in my home. I look for harmful agents in the products that I am currently using. You can get this information on the web. All you have to do is use a search engine and type in the ingredient name. You will be surprised at what you will find out about the products you are already using. I am tired of being the naive victim of the marketing of these so called miracle cures. Let’s get the truth!!

Drive Your Website Sales like crazy by Just Giving Away Freely

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

Who else want to drive your website sales like crazy by following simple marketing strategies and tactics to promote your products?

If above sounds like you, then you should read on….

Often, we find it hard to market/sell your products to customers. There could be nothing wrong with our marketing strategies but we still don’t get the sales. If you notice that alot of companies always give off free products and samples during promotions. You will ask yourself do giving off something free really works?

Everyone likes things that are free. Things that are given free are called freebies. If the things that you given to free to visitors to your website are useful and valuable, they become ‘goodies’. Your visitors will come back to your website for more. Freebies can be used as the the ‘virus’ to provide the viral marketing effect. When visitors come to your website, try to give something valuable and quality to them, i.e the goodies. The objective here is to give them free good stuffs so that they will want more of them.

Together, there are 3 types of ‘goodies’ you can give for free:

Goodies #1 – Articles

Have articles on topic related to what you are selling given to free to visitors to your site or ezine directories. Your articles should include links that linked back to your website. If your article provide quality and valuable information that interest them, they will come back to sign up for your Opt-In list, or to purchase from you.

Goodies #2 – EBooks

Give eBooks to existing subscribers and people who signs up to your Opt-In list or newsletter. The eBooks can be bundled together with the things that you are selling or incentives for buying your products(see Bundled Bonuses). These eBooks should be on subjects that related and compliment your main subject. These will help them to ‘addicted’ for the subject and then you can come back to your website for more.

Goodies #3 – Bundled Bonuses

You can also bundled together other things (like softwares, eBooks and reports) with the things that you are selling. All these bonuses will have links pointing to your site, or have links in them that point to things you are promoting. You can use someone else goodies, i.e products from other people that you are given free or resell rights and free to redistribute, as bonuses to buying your products. You can use software available in the market to ‘rebrand’ them by inserting links that points to your website or products you are promoting or embedding a file that have information of your website and products. In this way, you will constantly reminds your visitors of your products and your site.

With all these in place, the next thing you ONLY need to do is to spread your ‘infectious’ goodies or drive traffic to where your visitors can get your free products and information. These can be done by again distributing your goodies through other people’s channels and networks like publishing your articles on some ezine directories or give your free eBooks or softwares in public domain.

Remember givers get! You need to give first before you can take your profits. Give your goodies as freebies to drive your sales crazy!

Did You Inherit “Fat Genes” – The Truth About Biology And Body Fat

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

“Battle Your Biology? Fat Chance,” proclaimed a headline in the health section of the New York Post newspaper recently. Quoting new research and citing psychologists, dietitians and physicians, the article said that more and more evidence proves that your weight is genetically determined, and if you’re fat, “it’s not your fault” and there’s not much you can do about it. “We’ve known for a while that genes – more than environment and behavior – explain obesity” argues Dr. James Rosen, an eating disorder specialist and professor at the University of Vermont.

While genetics are definitely a factor, believing you are destined to be overweight for life because you’ve inherited “fat genes” is the most disempowering and self-defeating attitude you could ever adopt. The only way you’ll lose weight permanently is to accept total responsibility for yourself and acknowledge the fact that you have the power to change, regardless what mother nature has given you to work with.

There’s no denying that heredity plays a major role in how difficult it will be for you to lose fat. You inherited a body type, a predetermined number of fat cells, a metabolic rate and body chemistry just as you inherited your eye color and hair color. In the 1930′s, Harvard psychologist Dr. William H. Sheldon developed a classification system for these different body types called “somatotyping.” While there are no absolutes, Sheldon identified three basic somatotypes: ectomorphs, mesomorphs and endomorphs.

Ectomorphs are the lean, lanky types. They are usually very thin and bony, with fast metabolisms and extremely low body fat. An ectomorph can eat like a horse without gaining an ounce. Mesomorphs are the “genetically gifted.” They are lean, muscular and naturally athletic. Mesomorphs lose fat and gain muscle with ease. Endomorphs are the “fat retainers.” Characterized by round features, excess body fat and large joints (“big bones”), endomorphs usually have great difficulty in losing body fat. They have slow metabolisms, they are often carbohydrate sensitive, they gain fat quickly if they eat poorly or don’t exercise, and they lose fat slowly – even on a healthy diet.

The tendency of endomorphs to store fat easily can be partly attributed to metabolic problems. For example, endomorphs often metabolize carbohydrates inefficiently. Normal people can eat lots of carbohydrates – up to 60% of their total calories – and they still stay lean. Endomorphs produce too much insulin when they eat carbohydrates and this leads to increased fat storage and difficulty in losing existing fat. This condition is known as “insulin resistance” or “Syndrome X.”

Scientists claim that the tendency to gain weight easily may also be due to chemical imbalances in the brain that cause people to overeat. Researchers at Johns Hopkins recently announced the discovery of a compound called C75 that blocks an appetite-regulating hormone in the hypothalamus. In mice injected with the substance, 30 percent more weight was lost because the drug caused the mice to eat less. More research is planned to develop a similar appetite-suppressing drug for humans. Unlike Xenical, which blocks fat absorption in the intestine, this new drug would affect the brain’s chemistry so that people feel full sooner.

Many physicians and health professionals consider these metabolic disorders and chemical imbalances as genetically transmitted “diseases” that require medical treatment. “Obesity is a disease and should be treated like one” says Jackie Newgent, spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association . This idea should be viewed with a great deal of suspicion however, because weight loss is potentially the biggest market in the world for drug sales.

According to Justin Gillis, a staff writer for the Washington Post, more than 45 companies worldwide are trying to develop new obesity drugs, and the stakes couldn’t be higher. Gillis writes, “In world where a blockbuster drug is worth $1 billion a year in sales, analysts give $5 billion as the low estimate for sales of an important obesity drug. If a company developed a truly safe, effective weight loss drug, and sold it for $3 a day to one quarter of the 97 million American adults estimated to be overweight, sales would exceed $26 billion a year in this country alone.”

Basically, what the medical community is trying to tell you is that if you are overweight, it’s not your fault; you were born fat, so don’t feel guilty – and don’t worry, we have a drug that can “cure” you. Sounds like there’s an ulterior motive at work here, wouldn’t you agree? Before you run to get a prescription for the next “miracle” drug, you’d better wonder whose interests are being served; yours or the pharmaceutical giants.

Besides, drugs can never be the solution if they treat the symptoms and not the cause. Drugs should be considered a last resort for the morbidly obese who have already tried everything else without success and who will face serious health consequences if they don’t lose weight. The editors of obesity.com said it best: “Weight loss drugs do not take the place of diet, exercise, patience, and perseverance.”

“Dieting can be an uphill battle against your genes.” says Post writer Joyce Cohen. Unfortunately, if you’re an endomorph, Cohen is right. Losing weight is definitely easier for some people than for others and that doesn’t seem fair. But that’s the way life is. Life isn’t fair. Let’s be honest; not everyone is going to become an Olympic Gold medallist, a Mr. America or a fitness model. But don’t despair – you are not doomed to live a life of fatness if you don’t have “athletic genes.”

Obesity is the result of many influences. Genetics is only one of them. Like it or not, the primary cause of obesity is your own behavior. Most of the factors that affect body composition are entirely under your control. These factors include how much you eat, what you eat, when you eat, what type of exercise you do, how frequently you exercise, how long you exercise and how hard you exercise.

If you have the genetic predisposition towards obesity, you can lose fat like everyone else, you’re just going to have to work harder and longer at it than other people. “There is a genetic component to weight,” Says Dr. Thomas Wadden, a psychologist from Syracuse University, “but no one is destined to be obese. If weight has been a major problem in your family, you may not be able to become as thin as you’d like, but you can lose weight.”

If you find losing weight to be a slow and difficult process, the empowering thing to do is to look at it as asset, because overcoming this obstacle will force you to develop discipline, determination and persistence. These traits will carry over to other areas of your life and make you a stronger person all around. Arnold Schwarzennegger said, “Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strength. When you overcome hardships, that is strength.”

The first thing you must do if you want to lose weight or succeed in any area of your life, is to accept complete responsibility for your situation. In a short but powerful little book called “As Man Thinketh,” the author James Allen wrote, “circumstances do not make a man, they reveal him.” What he meant was that we are not products of our environment or our heredity (our “circumstances”), instead, we products of our own thinking and belief systems.

We create our own circumstances through positive thinking and positive action and we create negative circumstances through negative thinking and lack of action or wrong actions. In other words, we are responsible for where we are, what we have and how our bodies look.

Some people get very angry with me when I tell them this: They say, “Wait a minute. Are you trying to tell me that when bad things happen to me, it’s my own fault? That I brought unemployment, financial hardships, failed relationships, weight gain or even health problems onto myself? Because if that’s what you’re saying, that’s totally unfair!”

Well, my friend, with very few exceptions, (some things really are out of your control) that is exactly what I am saying.

If you refuse to accept the fact that you are 100% responsible for your weight, you will never be successful. When people find themselves in undesirable situations or they aren’t getting the results they want, it’s all too easy to make excuses: It’s my genetics, I have big bones, I have a slow metabolism, I don’t have enough time to exercise, etc. etc., etc. Making excuses is relinquishing control. It is conceding that you a victim of circumstances instead of the creator of your circumstances. Stop blaming and start taking responsibility for your life. Take action! Start working out. Eat better. Do something – do anything – but don’t just sit there on the couch and curse your chromosomes.

So, are you a frustrated “endomorph?” Do you feel like dieting is an uphill battle against your genes? If your answer is “yes,” please don’t just quit and chalk in up to “bad genetics,” and don’t believe that drugs are the answer either – they’re not. Your genetics will largely dictate your athletic ability and how easily you will lose weight. That doesn’t mean you can’t get lean; it only means that you’re going to have to adjust your diet and training to fit your body type and you may have to work harder and be more persistent than the “genetically lucky” ones.

Maybe obesity really should be classified as a genetically inherited “disease.” But frankly, if you have a “disease” that forces you to learn more about exercise and nutrition, to eat nutritious foods, to adopt a healthier lifestyle, to develop a strong work ethic and to become a more persistent person, that sounds like a blessing in disguise to me.

Your Point of Power

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

We’d all like to be flying above the storms of life and it’s possible, but knowing your Point of Power is the key. There will always be storms, but you can choose to remain on the ground, battling them or you can supersede the natural law of gravity that governs the earthbound by achieving lift and leaving the ground, with its storms, far beneath you.

Your personal Point of Power is that point at which you achieve lift and begin the ascent from the ground of your circumstances to that clear blue sky above the clouds. It’s different for each of us, this breakthrough point that powers us through the clouds, and it often differs from day to day. So, how do you know what your Point of Power is? Here are a few clues.

It’s that point at which you face down your biggest fear. It’s that moment at which you decide that fear no longer has the power to paralyze you. If you have to move forward with fear digging it’s talons into your back, you will. That’s the Point of Power called courage. That’s when you become truly unbeatable.

It’s the point at which you let go of that ancient grudge. When you begin to see that your lack of forgiveness will poison no one but you, and realize that no matter how wronged you were, the grudge you hold is turning your own heart to stone, then you will soar.

It’s the point at which you surrender control and begin to trust in what you know to be Truth. Very few of us actually lack knowledge of the Truth – we just refuse to live by it, preferring to take what appears to be the easy way. Face the Truth, acknowledge it and then commit to order you life accordingly and you won’t be able to keep yourself from rising.

It’s the point at which you acknowledge and accept your Purpose and Mission and step into it wholeheartedly. When you realize that your life is no accident and you have a reason for being here, a job to do, your point of power becomes your driving passion.

It’s the point at which you put Goals to your Visions, wings to your dreams. Driven by your vibrant Visions and willing to risk everything in bringing them to pass, you will take to the air above those who are still stuck striving for comfort and ease in life.

It’s the point at which you realize that it’s not necessary to know it all, learn it all or understand it all before you soar. It’s enough to know that the laws of lift work whenever the conditions come together. You don’t have to wait to take a commercial flight until you understand completely how it works. It’s enough to know that it does.

It’s the point at which you allow yourself to love freely, giving of yourself with abandon, expecting nothing in return. And it’s the point at which the needs and concerns of others become personal issues for you.

It’s the point at which you determine to operate in integrity no matter what everyone else is doing or how it looks, the point at which your character achieves clarity.

It’s the point at which you make a quality decision, no more waffling, and begin to live it, the point at which you examine your motives in light of your Purpose and Mission and are willing to change yourself, and no one else. It’s the moment at which you assume responsibility and remove the word BUT from your vocabulary.

Achieve lift on your personal life path, in your relationships and in your career. You can rev your engines all you want and you can even begin to move down the runway. But until you find that point of power, you’re going nowhere, and you’ll never achieve lift or experience the exhilaration of watching the earth move away beneath you as you point yourself to the endless skies – no longer earthbound.

Your greatest potential is realized at your personal Point of Power. You were designed to soar. If you’re feeling earthbound, begin today to determine what’s sapping your power and then take the steps necessary to rid yourself of it. If you’re soaring already, experiencing the thrill of operating above the storm, don’t forget those still earthbound. You have the secret; don’t be stingy. Find someone who’s stuck and help them get off the ground!

Consider the following set of simple rules. Live by them; work toward them daily and don’t make the mistake of confusing simple with easy. Points of power are rarely easy, but almost always simple!

5 Simple Rules to Live By:

Live simply.

Free your heart from hatred.

Free your mind from worries.

Give more.

Expect more of yourself and less of others.

Call to Action: We’d love to hear from you! What are your Points of Power and how have you experienced lift-off? Email us your experiences in this area. We’d like to encourage other readers with your story. We’ll keep it anonymous if you prefer. But keep in mind that another Point of Power is in sharing the Truths you’ve learned and experienced for yourself.

It’s all just commonsense!

Domain Name Appraisals: Are They Worth the Cost?

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

Have you ever thought about having one of your registered domain names appraised, because you were considering selling it and wanted to know what a fair price would be? Maybe you’re just curious about how much your domain is worth? Did the high fees for detailed appraisal services turn you off of the idea, or are you still considering it?

Here’s a simple fact: Domain names, just like any other product or service, are worth whatever the market will bear.

What that means is that if a domain appraiser tells you that your domain name is worth $2500, but the most you can raise in an auction is $50, then your domain is really worth $50, not $2500. It’s basic economics. The market works on a supply-demand system. You’re supplying a certain domain name, and its value is entirely determined by how much demand there is for that name. If only one person in the world is interested in buying it from you, its value will be pretty low (unless of course you’re a squatter who jumped on a domain someone let expire, and you’re demanding an obscene price for it). On the other hand, if thousands of people desperately want the domain name that you’re selling, the price some people are willing to pay can skyrocket, making your domain name worth thousands.

How domains are appraised

Domain appraisal isn’t an exact science. A number of factors are considered, ranging from the length of the domain to the domain extension. Here are some of the considerations:

The domain extension – A .com domain is always valued higher than a .net, .org, or other extension for the same name.

The length of the domain name – Domains tend to be valued highest if you avoid going over 12 – 15 characters.

Dashes and Numbers – You’ll receive a higher appraisal if you avoid using numbers and dashes in your domain name.

Domain Prefixes – You’ll receive a lower appraisal if your domain name starts with any kind of prefix, whether it be an e, i, the, an, etc.

Name Recognition – If you’re able to register a domain that can be easily recognized, such as one common dictionary word, you’ll receive a higher appraisal.

Name Relevance – If your domain specifically tells what services or products could be offered by its web site, then you’ll receive a higher appraisal.

Marketability – Could the domain name be marketed and promoted easily? Does it lend itself to an easy logo and site campaign? Can it be pronounced easily in a radio campaign without being confusing, such as having multiple possible spellings? Does it look attractive in print? If the answer to each question is yes, then you’ll receive a higher appraisal.

Worth the cost?

If nothing else, you need to understand that domain name appraisals are extremely subjective, and you could receive very different appraisals from two different appraisal companies. In a general sense, unless you absolutely must, a domain name appraisal is likely not worth the expense. When selling a domain name, many buyers require that you provide them with one. Some even tell you what appraisal companies they will and won’t accept. If that’s the case, agree to get the appraisal, but kindly let the customer know that if they demand one, they’ll be responsible for the fee up-front, or you’ll add it to their bill when processing the sale. Other than that, if you want an honest opinion on one of your domain names, there are countless free forums on the Web where experienced professionals in buying and selling domains will give you their free input, based on what they’ve seen similar domains sell for recently. It might be a better use of your time to get various opinions that way, and decide for yourself what you feel your domain is worth. And if you considered getting a domain appraisal simply out of curiosity, remember this: your company’s domain name is as valuable as you feel it is. If you couldn’t run your company without it, it’s priceless.

Tradeshow Exhibiting Success

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

When it comes to deciding if tradeshows can be an effective marketing tool for your company or business, a careful analysis of the landscape and return on investment potential is in order.

To be or not to be, that is the question. Where? On the tradeshow floor of course.

If the results of your analysis prove that the benefits of investing in tradeshows are worthwhile, the first thing you want to do is decide what show you want to exhibit in and sign up for the show. The sooner you do the better your booth location could be. You know what they say about location, location, location.

Next, your focus should shift to the look and appearance of your tradeshow exhibit booth.

The most important aspect of your tradeshow exhibit is the design, look, and feel. In other words, what can you incorporate into your design to get that all-important attendee to stop in front of your booth and give you the opportunity to open up a dialogue with them? Remember that you have about three to six seconds to accomplish that. And that is the main reason that you are there.

Be creative and unique. Do you want to have a simple display with detachable eye-catching graphics that can be changed as needed? Or, do you want to have a printed fabric display that sets up in five minutes and already has your graphics image on it? Be sure your company name stands out. Think about lighting it up.

Do your products require counter space? If so, make sure that the counters or pedestals that you choose are Velcro compatible for signage purposes. You should always incorporate at least one counter or table for your lead generation machine and brochures. Consider an imprinted throw cover with a slogan or product name on it.

Maybe a person of interest, like a model or a magician would draw more traffic. How about popcorn? Everybody loves popcorn and you can smell it all over the tradeshow floor. Perhaps you can design a costume or uniform for your employees to wear to compliment your look.

Do you want to spend any money on promotional items that have your company name and or logo printed on them? If so, be wise with your selection. Lots of giveaways wind up being discarded after the show.

What are your goals for the show? Do you want to get new leads, orders from existing customers, announce a new product, just show your presence, or something else? Be clear on what your goals are and do everything you can to achieve them.

That includes making sure that everything required for your booth is accounted for, especially the show manual. After you sign up for the show, mark your calendar to remind you to look for your show manual.

Once you have your manual in hand, go through it page by page and make a checklist of what resources you need. Take advantage of early bird discounts. Especially, shipping to the advance-shipping warehouse. Get your forms in early.

O.k. So you’ve decided that tradeshows are for you and you’ve done everything from the design of your booth through submitting all of the required forms to the decorator. What’s left?

Sending the right people to the show. This can be as important as everything else that you’ve done up to this point. Why? Because if you want to get the best results possible, you need to send the best spokes person for your company. Everything depends on them and their communication skills.

In my opinion, attitude is king. Having the right personnel at your booth can be the difference between having a return on your investment or coming back empty handed without any new leads or orders.

After all, getting a return on your investment is why you went there in the first place.

10 Things You Never Thought to Buy on eBay

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

I have to admit, sometimes I get teased by friends or family for what I buy on eBay. There is very little I purchase that I don’t at least attempt to buy on eBay first. Why not? There are thousands (if not millions) of eBay listings at any given time — that’s a pretty amazing resource for everything under the sun. For everything you buy on eBay, there’s probably at least one other thing you haven’t thought of. To start you off, here’s a list of ten things you (probably) never thought to buy on eBay:

1. Postage Stamps: Yes, it is possible to get a discount on postage stamps! A lot of times companies or individuals will purchase a mass quantity of stamps for a mailing and end up not using them all. The USPS doesn’t buy back stamps, so a good alternative is to sell on eBay. Expect to pay between 80% and 90% of face value, with the bigger discount coming from a larger purchase quantity.
2. Timeshares: Real estate is big on eBay, especially timeshares! As long as you are careful in reading all of the fine print and purchasing from a reputable seller, you can come away with a great vacation at a fantastic value. You can easily pick and choose from a wide variety of locations, amenities, and prices.
3. Over-the-counter medication: Need to replenish your supply of Advil, Visine, Airborne, or Mylanta? I buy nearly all of my over-the-counter medication on eBay. It’s almost always drastically cheaper, and you can also search for generic or store brands. I save hundreds of dollars a year doing this.
4. Makeup: There are certain shades and certain brands of makeup I know I will always use. It’s easy to search for these on eBay and buy them in bulk or at a discount. It’s also a great way to find discontinued colors that you love and can’t live without! I set up a search for my favorite discontinued items and save it so I am emailed whenever an auction matching my criteria comes up. I’ve been able to keep using a certain shade of lipstick despite the fact that it was discontinued years ago.
5. eBay Business Supplies: I see so many people who sell on eBay using padded envelopes or other supplies from the USPS — not the free Priority or Express mail supplies, but the expensive supplies sold in post offices. If you know you’re going to sell more than just a few items, buy your supplies on eBay! Great discounts are to be had on bubble mailers, bubble sheets, labels, and more.
6. Spices: Yes, kitchen spices! I eat oatmeal nearly every morning and use a generous amount of pumpkin pie spice for flavor. I was spending at least $3 every time I purchased a tiny container of it at the store. I found a supplier on eBay and was able to get over ten times the amount for only twice the price!
7. Gift Cards: If you frequently shop at a certain store, it pays (literally) to check out the gift certificates category on eBay. People resell gift cards they aren’t interested in using, and you can often get a good discount. Some of the more popular stores sell for nearly 100% of face value, but others sell for 70% to 90% of face value. If you’re going to spend the money at the store anyway, why not buy a gift card and save a few bucks? I like to look at it as free money!
8. Food: The food category on eBay is huge. You can buy your favorite overseas candy, soda flavors you can’t find locally, fresh baked cookies just like mom made them, protein bars, elegant desserts, and much more. A word of warning though… looking for food on eBay can make you hungry!
9. Massage Appointments: These can usually be found in the gift certificates category. A lot of spas and massage therapy locations will sell gift certificates for massages at discounted rates to gain new customers. As long as you are careful to check that the location is legit, you can find a great deal. I was able to purchase a fantastic one-hour massage for only $35.
10. Magazine Subscriptions: Magazines make money selling ads, and they can charge more for their ads if they have more subscribers. Because of that, they will let go of a lot of subscriptions to brokers for very low prices. A lot of these brokers sell on eBay. Imagine buying a year’s subscription to your favorite magazine for only $3! They usually take four to eight weeks to kick in, but it’s well worth the wait.

Hopefully these ideas have given you a starting point for the wide variety of ways you can save money on a daily basis by purchasing through eBay. Happy bidding!

Resale Rights – Are You Making These Three Mistakes?

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

One of the biggest mistakes people make when they start selling resale rights products is doing exactly the same thing in the same way as everyone else. Another big mistake is doing what nobody else is doing.

Sound a bit contradictory? Here’s what I mean…

Dan Kennedy is one of the greatest living direct marketers. In his eBook, 63 Killer Marketing Strategies, Dan says, “If you offer the same product or service as someone else, one of you is unnecessary.”

Sounds a bit scary when we’re talking about resale rights, doesn’t it? Think more people than just you might be selling the same thing?

On the other hand, if you’re trying to sell something that is totally different from what everyone else is selling, that can be a bit scary too. It’s possible you might have thought of something brilliant that no one else has… but in a world of six billion people, you’re more likely to find that others have had the same idea but found there just wasn’t a very good market for it. That doesn’t guarantee you couldn’t do it more successfully. But it does mean you might have to work harder to convince people they need your product.

So what’s the solution? The solution is to imitate what others are doing successfully – but without duplicating them exactly. Here is an example:

Maybe you notice that many, many people are selling a product that is a package of many resale rights products. You have master resale rights for the product, so you decide to sell it too. You set up a site using the sales page provided with the product, the graphics provided with it, etc.

If you get traffic to the website, you will make some sales. The problem is, that’s what almost everyone else selling that master resale rights product does too, because most people won’t take the time and effort to do something different.

You need some way to differentiate yourself, to brand yourself, while using the concept. You already know the concept works – many people have bought that package and are selling it! So the concept of bundling a number of master resale rights products together in a package, branding it, and selling it till it spreads like wildfire is a good concept that’s been proven to work. But what if there was a way to double the number of sales you make that way? Or triple them? How can you do that? By varying what you do just enough to differentiate yourself. For example:

Maybe you decide to package it with a group of other master resale rights products that appeal to the same market. Or maybe you change the graphics and the sales page so that it has a totally different look and feel. Maybe you include a number of great bonuses that people have been wanting and that no one else is offering with it. Or maybe you decide to create a very similar product (just different enough…) and sell that with master resale rights instead!

The examples above are great examples for how you can differentiate yourself even when others are selling the same resale rights product. But there is one way of differentiating yourself that you typically don’t want to do. You typically do not want to compete on price instead. That is the third big mistake people make. Suppose that instead of putting a nice master resale rights package together and selling it for $50, you instead decide to sell it for $1 on eBay. Let’s suppose you only want to make an extra $1000 per month. Which do you think would be easier and more likely, selling 20 products in a month (less than one per day), or selling 1000 copies per month (33 per day)? You wouldn’t even get the reputation you want. In fact, you would be more likely to find that no one believes the offer because it seems too good to be true! It’s much better to add more value to the package and charge a more appropriate price.

If you want to avoid making the three biggest mistakes with resale rights:

1. Imitate what others are doing successfully but…

2. Be just enough different that you’re perceived as providing better value, and

3. Charge a fair price for that value.

Keep repeating that process. Even though you’re selling other people’s products, you can brand yourself by doing something different. Then you will build your business, rather than someone else’s business.

Ten Secret Steps to Build Body Mas

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

How many times have you considered your alter ego, your ultimate body shape, you know, the body you think you really ought to have, and just wished…

Well, wishing will never achieve anything – as you well know.

But, whilst you are busy ‘wishing’ considers this: gaining mass may not be as difficult as you think. Getting it is quite simple and straightforward, as long as you are willing to put in some considerable effort, bust a gut, stick to a good training and eating plan and follow these 10 basic rules.

1. Use free weights for all heavy sets. As heavy as some machines might feel, they do not involve as much of the ancillary muscle areas as do free weights, and therefore do not build as much compound mass. Where the machine guides the movement of the weights for you, with free weights you are using your back, stomach, shoulders and so forth in a more co-ordinated manner to achieve the same effect. However you really achieve you also need to make sure that you are doing the free weight exercises correctly, otherwise you could be missing the target muscle you want to build

2. Utilise ‘Compound Movement’. How you perform an exercise is perhaps the most important component in building mass. If you want to have full, hard bulk, do not isolate specific actions. Instead, use ‘body thrust’ to compound the involvement of all the muscles in that area. Also, don’t fall for the theory that cheating robs you of separation (unlike machine work, where you can only use the appropriate muscle group). On the contrary, it augments the compound benefit and builds even greater size so that there’s more muscle in which to carve separation.

3. Find areas of improvement. Assess your physique to determine which muscle groups need to be brought up in size, then go to the gym with that in mind, concentrate on working those areas first. Begin your workout with a barbell movement and follow with dumbbells. If you use cables, do so at the end of your workout. Never count cable sets as muscle building sets.

4. Experiment to find your best mass building exercises. I used to perform lots of squats, and I became incredibly strong with them, going as high as 40 reps with 315 pounds. But there came a point where, even at that level of intensity, my legs weren’t growing to my satisfaction. I discovered that my lower back and hips were taking too much of the stress; the solution lay in working my quads more exclusively. I therefore stopped doing squats and switched to leg presses and hack squats instead. My legs are now bulkier than ever.

5. Avoid Injuries. Be wary of dangerous exercises. Squats and flat bench presses, for example, present the most injury potential, so I stay away from them. I can’t count the number of individuals whose bodybuilding careers were ended by torn pecs, slipped discs or strained erectors. With proper knowledge and execution, you can get commensurate or even better growth from exercises that work those muscle groups thoroughly without placing undue stress on tendons and ligaments. This is particularly true if you are new to bodybuilding – if you try such exercises then the first time you do them make sure that you get the proper guidance from a qualified trainer to do them correctly – if you’ve been doing them for some time it’s still advisable to check out your stance, posture and lift position with a professional.

6. Utilise optimum sets. Use a range of 16 – 20 total sets per body part – and STICK to them!

7. Don’t count exercise. There is no optimum number of exercises. Most bodybuilders prescribe four sets each of four or five different exercises per bodypart, but for some muscle groups, there might be only one or two movements that work them effectively. In those cases, you should do 16 – 20 sets of one exercise, or 8 – 10 sets each of two exercises.

8. Perform Optimum reps. I like to train heavy, but I also like to use lots of reps. I recently performed incline barbell curls with 405 pounds for 10 reps, but I consider that to be medium to light weight, and, therefore, not mass training. My favorite number of mass reps on a regular basis is 10, to failure(when you just can not do even 1 more.) of course. However, that doesn’t mean you should avoid going as heavy as possible now and then.

9. Flirt with maximums. Check out your strength levels every so often by maxing out with one or two reps. Remember, though, that any time you play around with benchpress poundages above 405, you flirt with danger. The body cannot consistently take that type of training. When you want to test your max, do not take big jumps. Rather, work up gradually to keep your body accustomed to the changing forces and their deflections at each level. For example, I go up to 500 pounds for two reps on the incline barbell press, but I do not jump directly from 405 to 500. Instead, I make sure I can do 465 for at least four reps before I go to my max.

10. Eat your meat! The more protein you eat, the better, and the best form of protein for mass is meat, especially red meat. That’s where you get your muscle building nutrients, your strength reserves and the necessary fats for joint protection. There is loads of advice freely available on what you should eat so use it – you need to control calorie intake but you also need to get the right mix of carbs and protein, so use a proper eating plan.

Make all of these principles second nature to your bodybuilding lifestyle and you will gain good solid mass.

3 Words That Relieve Stress, Depression & Anxiety

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

One of the most common flawed modes of behavior performed by every sufferer who enters into a harrowing episode of stress, depression or anxiety concerns the words they use to describe situations and events they are confronted with. In using powerful, emotive words, sufferers will trigger the fear response and the more they use such words, the worse their suffering gets.

Powerful, emotive words are part of everybody’s vocabulary. Sometimes, we use powerful words when we lose our temper or we become angry and frustrated. In this state, we give vent to our feelings and the emotions within us have an outlet.

This is fine. For most people, once their emotions have been expressed, they return to their usual selves and life carries on as normal.

But it doesn’t work like this if you are prone to stress, depression or anxiety.

In these states, sufferers will react negatively to every event they are confronted with in their lives. One of the negative reactions concerns using powerful and emotive words that can make even the most insignificant of events a major problem. Words can and do have that much power and in this article, I’m going to show you how this works with three of the worst words you can use to assign meanings to events. They are:

Nothing, everything and never.

For example, let’s say your relationship with your spouse breaks down. Here’s how using the above words can trigger stress, depression or anxiety:

“Well that’s it. EVERYTHING has gone wrong in my life. I’m NOTHING without him/her and I know I’ll NEVER be happy ever again.”

Can you see how flawed this highly emotive reaction is and can you see how these words – seemingly innocuous by themselves – have made one event a major, stressful episode by assigning a catastrophic meaning to your whole life?

To avoid arousing such fearful emotions, here are three better, much less emotive words you can use to lower the intensity:

For everything, use ONLY. For Never, use TEMPORARY. For nothing, use SOME.

So let’s use these words to find a less intense meaning to the event in our example, the breakdown of an intimate relationship:

“OK, my relationship is over, but it ONLY affects my love life. SOME things will change but other areas of my life – my work, my friendships, my hobbies and my social life will carry on as normally as possible. I’m hurting now, but this is TEMPORARY and things will get better in due course.”

Can you see how using different words can dramatically reduce the impact and make much clearer sense of the event? This is exactly why some people never enter into a stressful, depressive or anxious episode even when they are faced with the most trying of circumstances, such as relationship breakdown.

Everything, nothing and never are just three of the emotive words used by sufferers. There are many more – including expletives that are far too strong to use here – but if you use the three alternatives I’ve given in this article, you will drastically reduce the chances of entering into an episode of stress, depression and anxiety.

Be aware of the words you use to assign meanings – mind your language!

See you soon.

3 Hot Tips For Building Trust And Increasing Sales!

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

How many times has it happened to you? You walk through the doors of a place of busineess and here he comes – perfectly groomed with a smile planted across his face in greeting. Within two minutes he has talked non-stop and promised you everything, including the stars if you purchase his project. You lift and eyebrow, and think to yourself… “Yeah, right!”

The distrust between consumer and salesman is a longstanding feeling. After all, you know they are wanting to make a buck off your purchase. Sure, you don’t mind them making a few dollars… everybody has to make a living… but heck, it would be nice if they were at least a little concerned about what your needs are too!

Let’s face it… customers aren’t likely to buy from you unless they feel confident that you will deliver. There are a few easy steps that you can take to give them the confidence they need to take the plunge.

1. Let Previous Customers Make The Claim
The proof is in the pudding… No one can say that you deliver and make good on your promises like a satisfied customer. It pays to use customer testimonials. Now, we’re not talking about blindly pasting testimonials everywhere… a little business sense and organization will be helpful in making the most of them.

Choose testimonials that are exact and talk about specific aspects of your business. “Thank you so much for your hard work!” is wonderful, but “Thank you for spending 2 hours with me yesterday. Your personal attention is greatly appreciated.” says a lot more. Yeah, the reader knows that you are willing to take whatever time it takes to help them through the purchasing process.

Be sure to get your customer’s permission to use their testimonial as part of your advertising campaign. While you’re at it, get as much personal information about them as you can. Their occupation, city, etc., create a more realistic appeal to their testimony.

2. Be Specific In Your Claims
Specific claims are more believable than vague, generic brags. Order today! It’s Fast, Easy and Cheap! sounds much better when you say… Order Today! Take 2 Minutes to Fill Out Our 7 Step Order Form and Save 20% on Your Purchase!

Specific numbers don’t always come out even. In fact, readers tend to believe numbers that have decimals are more accurate than whole numbers… even if the real number is exactly a whole number!

3. Be Realistic
Don’t alienate customers with claims that sound too good to be true. Yeah, we all know the old saying that if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Unrealistic claims steal your credibility and leave the customers with a raised eyebrow.

Think of it this way… what if you do understate the beneifits? When your customer finds out the truth, he’ll just be that much more satisfied! Marketers suggest that you under promise and over deliver to create the greatest customer satisfaction.

Customers who believe in you aren’t afraid to buy from you. That means higher sales numbers and greater profit.

How To Build a Successful Web Hosting Business

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

When you start your own hosting business, there are many things you will want to take into consideration. One of the most important things you will need to figure out is how you will attract customers. There are four important factors you will need to know in order to build a solid customer base with your business. If you are a reseller, you will want to know which company to buy your package from.

You will also need to have the skills necessary to run a hosting business. The very first issue you will want to pay close attention to is the design of your website. This is the first thing a visitor will seen when loading your site, and you will want to leave a good impression. If they aren’t impressed with the design of your site, they are unlikely to become a customer. Your website should have an easy navigation menu, because few people will take the time to figure out how to move around your site. You should also try to use a custom design rather than a template.

Thousands of websites use generic templates, and they all have the same look and feel. You will not be successful online if you try to blend in with everyone else. You have to find a way to stand out, and using a custom design for your site is the first step. You want to have a professional look. It is also important to provide a variety of different hosting packages which can accomodate clients on a budget. Whether you decide to offer customer service via phone, IM, or email, make sure you respond to questions quickly. If you take longer than a day, your service will appear to be poor.

If you have some money, don’t be afraid to invest in a tech support department. It is well worth it, and will separate your company from the thousands of other hosting services available. You should also provide tutorials on your website which will help your clients learn more how to optimize or market their sites. If your target is clients with e-commerce sites, write articles about how they can build their business.

It may be helpful to start a forum where your clients can exchange ideas or information. This could function as a kind of tech support where clients answer each others questions and problems. At the same time, if you start a forum it is critical that you provide excellent service. If you make an error with a client, it won’t be long before many of your other customers learn about it.

Sexual Enhancement! The Best Of The Best

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

I am going to try and shed a little light on some of the products that you might consider. My research for this article came from some close friends and a couple of my brothers. Going by what my friends and family members told me of these products, I felt confident enough to start selling them myself. No, I am not writing this article for product promotion! After selling some of these products online, I am doing quite well now. I receive several e-mails daily thanking me and telling me their success stories.

The first product I want to tell you about is “Deer Antler Plus” Deer Antler Velvet has been used for thousands of years in the Orient for impotence in men. It has been referred to as one of the top sexual performance enhancers in the world. It has been said to produce strong sexual desires, increased testosterone, stamina and strength.

Here is their Money Back Guarantee: Please, try and honestly use our Deer Antler Plus as directed. If you have not seen the results you were expecting or are not satisfied in any way, please send us back your empty or partially used containers and we’ll refund your money back 100inus shipping and handling. You have nothing to lose, ZERO risk, and a FULL Money Back Guarantee.

The next product had good results but not as good as Deer Antler Plus. I guess I should not say it was not as good because they are two different type of products. This product is called: “Virility EX Oil” Virility EX Oil delivers a powerful blend of ingredients specifically designed to benefit men’s penile and sexual health. You just smooth Virility EX Oil onto your penis – for best results, a few drops once or twice a day and before intercourse.

This product also offers a Full Money Back Guarantee: Give your sexual partner the satisfaction of intense intimate experiences and incredible orgasms. Virility EX Oil is completely safe, works immediately and can give you the sexual power and pleasure you demand! If for any reason you are not 100atisfied with their product within the first 6 months they will refund you 100f your money.

These are not cure all’s, but I think you will be satisfied with their results. Just remember a good healthy diet and regular exercise will help get the blood flowing with the help of these products.
