Remedies For A Smoother Skin.

Do you have acne ? Acne maybe the scourge of adolescent years, but it can follow people into middle age and beyond.

Acne is really a catchall term for a variety of symptoms such as pimples, whiteheads, and blackheads. It’s a condition where the pores of skin become clogged and the person gets inflamed and non-inflamed lesions.

So what’s the cause of all the clogging ?……

Heredity – at least for the most part. Acne is genetic – it tends to run in families, it is an inherited defect of your pores. If both your parents had acne, three out of four of your brothers and sisters will get it too.

Factors that can aggravate an acne outbreak are :-
Stress, sun exposure, seasonal changes, and climate can all precipitate an acne attack. Certain types of makeup and taking birth control pills can also cause a breakout.

Change Your Make-up
In adult women, make-up is the major factor in acne outbreaks, especially oil based products. It’s the oil that causes the problem. The oil is usually a derivative of fatty acids that are more potent than your own fatty acids. Use a non-oil-based make-up if you are prone to acne.

Read The labels.
Cosmetic products that contain lanolins, isopropyl myristate, sodium lauryl sulphate, laureth-4 and D & C red dyes should be avoided. Like oil, these ingredients are too rich for the skin.

Wash Properly.
Wash your make-up off thoroughly every night. Use a mild soap twice a day and make sure you rinse the soap entirely off your face. Rinse six or seven times with fresh water.

Use Less Make-up.
Whatever make-up you use, try to cut down on the amount you put on.

Leave Well Alone.
Don’t squeeze pimples or whiteheads. A pimple is an inflammation, and you could add to the inflammation by squeezing it, which could lead to an infection. A pimple will always go away in one to four weeks if you leave them alone.

Know When To Squeeze.
Most pimples are best left alone, but there is one kind that you can squeeze to help get rid of it. If the pimple has a little central yellow pus head in it, then a gentle squeeze will make it pop open very nicely. Once the pus pops out, the pimple will heal more quickly.

Attack Blackheads.
You can also get rid of blackheads by squeezing them. A blackhead is a very blocked pore, and a gentle squeeze will help rectifty this.

Give Dry Skin Extra Care.
Dry skin can be sensitive to some over the counter skin treatments, so please use these treatments with care. Start with the lower strength products first, and then increase the concentration slowly.

Stay Out Of The Sun.
Acne medications may cause adverse reactions to the sun, so minimize you exposure until you know what the reactions going to be.

Use One Treatment At A Time.
Don’t mix treatments, use only one at a time because they may cause an adverse reaction if mixed together.

Stop The Spread Of Acne.
Apply acne medication about half an inch around the affected area, to help keep the acne from spreading. Acne moves across the face from the nose to the ear, so you need to treat beyond the inflamed area. Most people make the mistake of treating only the pimples and not the outlaying areas of skin. This is wrong.

If you are an acne sufferer, then I trust this information will be very helpful to you. Thanks for reading my article.

Stop Foreclosure – 7 Tips to Save Your Home

Tuesday, June 20th, 2006

Faced with the threat of a foreclosure on their home, with all the weight of the mortgage industry and its army of attorneys against them, the average homeowner might feel like David facing Goliath.

But David defeated Goliath !

David had a sling and some pebbles.

You have an armory of tactics and options which can enable you to stop foreclosure proceedings in their tracks.

There are certain basic rules to follow if you want to stop foreclosure on your home.

*** Do not leave your home. If you do, you may lose your eligibility for assistance.

*** Do not speak to the lender’s Collection department, especially over the phone.

*** Never speak to any of your lender’s representatives without having all your facts assembled, and your strategy determined.

*** Don’t ask the lender what your options are – know your options before the real discussions begin. Know and be prepared for the questions and forms you will be faced with.

*** Don’t volunteer the fact that you are either unemployed or insolvent, or you’re dead in the water.
(If you are either unemployed or insolvent, you’d better change things pretty quick, for the lender has to be convinced that you have the means to meet the loan repayments, and he will want to see evidence supporting this fact before he will stop foreclosure proceedings.)

*** Don’t rely on your memory – have everything written down clearly, and all your credit history records at hand.

*** Speak to the lender’s Loss Mitigation or Foreclosure department. Be firm, and insist on speaking to the right people every time.

*** Make a real effort to understand the legal terms relating to mortgages. To stop foreclosure proceedings, you need to speak the same language as your adversaries.

If you cannot fully understand the options, or the terms used, you should certainly speak to a HUD approved counselor – ring (800) 569 4287.
And do this as soon as you realise you might be heading for foreclosure.

Know your options ! Know your rights !

Stop Foreclosure – Tip 1
Read all communications from your lender. Time is your enemy, so the earlier the potential problem is recognised by both parties, the better the chances of a resolution.

Stop Foreclosure – Tip 2
If your property is FHA or VA insured, then your lender must give you the opportunity for a workout. If they refuse, then the FDA/VA may fail their claim for foreclosure.

Stop Foreclosure – Tip 3
If you are suffering financial loss due to the death or loss of a spouse, illness, or unexpected increase in your outgoings, contact the lender and request a loan modification, which effectively changes the terms of the loan to lower the payments.
This is a very common process, but you will need to provide evidence about the change in your circumstances.
If you feel that you qualify for a loan modification, and your lender refuses, contact the HUD for advice.

Stop Foreclosure – Tip 4
If your loss of income is temporary, contact your lender and request a forbearance. This means that you may be granted a period during which your monthly payments are “suspended”, after which you must resume your monthly payments plus a partial payment towards the payments you missed.
Most lenders have a forbearance program, but may require you to make an initial down payment.

Stop Foreclosure – Tip 5
If you have a FFA/HUD loan, you may qualify for a partial claim if the present loan is between 4 months and 12 months delinquent. The partial claim has to be repaid only after the original loan has been repaid in full.
Any of these measures can enable you to stop foreclosure on your home.

Stop Foreclosure – Tip 6
If all else fails, you could always file for bankruptcy at any time during the lender’s collecting process, and this would put an immediate stop on the lender’s activities.
Unfortunately, new bankruptcy reform legislation, to be introduced in October 2005, will effectively invalidate this tactic.
Under the new legislation, you must receive credit counseling from an approved agency 180 days – yes, that’s 6 months – before you can file for bankruptcy.
By which time the lender could have filed for foreclosure, and you could be out of your home.

Stop Foreclosure – Tip 7

Remember these facts.

The US is facing an ever-increasing tidal wave of homeowners defaulting on their mortgages. The average cost to the mortgage industry for each foreclosure is around $25000 !

Foreclosures cost lenders money, big money, so it is in their interests to reach a workout with the borrower, either to rescue the mortgage, if this is possible, or to reduce the loss as a result of foreclosure.
Don’t be intimidated by the lender or his attorneys. Appraise yourself of your exact financial position. Seek advice. Know your rights. Know your options. Be honest in your statements. Keep a written record of all communucations.

You can stop foreclosure in its tracks. And save your home.

Saunas Then And Now

History

The origin of the sauna is lost in the mists of time, but its history goes back over 1,000 years. The nomadic peoples of Finland had a primitive type of sauna around the first millennium that was made by building a fire inside a tent-like structure. When the heat had built up and the fire was out, people would enter the sauna to bathe. This was very similar to the American Indian sweat lodge.

This type of sauna evolved into a smoke sauna — a small building with a stone fireplace inside with a hole in the roof for the smoke to escape. The smoke sauna was commonly used until the 1920s, when it started to be replaced by the modern form of sauna. The smoke sauna, however, has enjoyed a recent revival in Finland. Many people consider it to be the finest type of sauna.

The modern introduced a new type of stove which allowed the rocks to be heated without being placed directly over the fire flames. This allowed the fire to burn while the sauna was being used. The earliest stoves of this type used wood as a fuel, but later models used electricity.

Types of Saunas

Saunas can be built in many shapes and styles. They can be separate buildings or they can be installed in a house or apartment. Traditional saunas use separate wooden structures.

The worldwide popularity of saunas has spurred innovative new designs. One of the most unusual is the portable sauna; a folding sauna that can be used almost anywhere. The folding sauna is just big enough for 1 person to sit in. There is a hole for your head and slits for your hands if you wish to read or talk on the phone while you are enjoying this sauna.

Another unusual design is the barrel sauna. This is a small cabin constructed using barrel-making techniques, which holds 6 to 8 people. Barrel saunas can be installed either inside or outside the home.

Infrared saunas have been used since the 1960s. The heating source here is an infrared heater. Unlike traditional heaters that heat the air in the sauna, infrared heaters heat objects and people, but not the air. Since infrared offers deeper tissue penetration, its proponents believe infrared saunas have superior health benefits.

Sauna Construction

Almost every type of sauna is made of wood. The walls, ceilings, floors and benches are all made from a wood such as cedar or hemlock. The only non-wood materials are the stove and the rocks that are heated on the stove.

The sauna creates a dry heat–usually between 150 degrees and 200 degrees F. From time to time, water can be thrown on the rocks. This creates a cloud of steam, which has the effect of immediately raising the temperature. The sauna can be heated with an electric or wood stove. Wood stoves are traditional in the countryside, but most urban saunas use an electric heater.

Whatever the type or construction, you owe it to yourself to treat yourself to a sauna. It may just become your favorite mode of relaxation.

Sending signals for trading in forex

Sending signals for trading in forex

Forex signals are sent by a forex firm to their subscribers in order to buy and sell currencies. These signals are called entry and exit signals for the forex dealers. The firms, which send this forex signal, do so after tedious and meticulous research and analysis into the currencies that their dealers are trading in. For example a firm may send the entry and exit signals at designated time frames in real time. These will remain valid for a short period only after which they are going to be different.

Let’s say that there is a forex trading company say Acme Forex traders who send entry and exit signals to their clients in the following way

The first signal is provided to the trader at 08:30, and this signal is going to remain actual till 12.30
The trader will receive the second signal at 12.30, which would remain actual till 16.30.
The last signal would be sent to the trader at 16.30.

The transactions are given according to GMT. Please adjust for local time changes. The transaction shall be calculated till the signal is actual. The charges would be $300 per month per trader.

Forex dealers and experts provide forex-trading information and data to both institutional clients and individual investors and provide these kind of signals. Investors like to subscribe to credit worthy forex dealers / companies since their information and data would be genuine and more accurate. In fact many forex dealers would kill to get information before the rest of the market gets the same information. As forex dealing is a very competitive business.

These signals or forex indications are given to the forex dealers through the forex trading platform or hub. The signals or forex indicators are the specific entry and exit strategies. Therefore when you enter a currency trade buying currencies at lower price and then selling at higher price, you book a profit. currency pair. For example the forex dealer is trading in GBP/USD. The rate is for GBP/USD is .9800 . If you expect that Euro is likely to go up in the future you would buy the Euros today to sell them off at a later date thereby booking a profit. If you expect the dollars to appreciate, then you would buy the dollars selling them off at a later date to book profits.

Most forex dealers will get the information via email or straight on their computer screens. It is then up to the forex dealers to decide whether they want to sell / buy / hold the currencies till further information is given to them.

Those who contribute in giving the information on currency dealing are hedge managers, foreign exchange dealers located in the major financial markets of the world, professional stock brokers, finance managers and a host of other finance professionals. They make it their business to collect, analyze and disseminate information in such a way, that can be used by forex dealers to buy / sell / hold the forex.

Therefore the companies take extreme care to send the forex signals for the currency dealers.

Seven Keys That Helped Me Work From Home

Tuesday, June 20th, 2006

There are several things that need to be considered when your work from home. They are: Do I have enough space to perform the work? Where will I work at? What type of work do I want to do? What hours will I want to work? Some of the questions will be fairly easy to answer while others will take a little more time. Determining the kind of work you want to do is can be difficult. I would recommend that you make a list of home-based business ideas. The goal of working from home or having a home business is being able to call the shots in one’s own business. At times it even reaches the point of worry.

If running your own successful home business is a goal you would like to reach, I’ll share some tips in this article that helped me “work from home” with my own online business. Even if you’ve already self-employed, maybe some of the tips I share can help increase the profitability of your existing business, online or off.

1) Be a doer, don’t just talk about it or be a dreamer.
Good words of advice: “When all is said than done, more is said than done.” We all like to dream and are much easier to talk about our goals. You need to put the plan inaction and follow through. I too was one of those people, but I finally combined my dreams with action, and it worked.

2) Effective time management.
Time is money in the business world. If must have the ability to manage your time effectively both in business and personal life, this will become an asset that can repay you many times over. Most people will start their work from home online business while working a full-time job at the same time; this means getting maximum productivity from your time is even more crucial. If your business is growing and you find that you do not have enough time in the day to pursue other business increasing activities, you can consider cutting back on the hours at your regular job, or find a job that may work better for you

3) Have Knowledge in the Field of Choice.
Being an expert is not required when starting out, you will gain that valuable knowledge as your home business grows. You will need to make sure that you stay up to date on the developments in your field. If you do this for a period of time you’ll become an expert.

4) Always be persistent.
I sympathize with those that commute 5 or more days a week to a job they don’t like, but it can be a plus. It can be a strong motivator and your persistence will prove useful. Tip: It will be much easier to persist if you select a field of business that you like, as opposed to pursuing something just for the money. Then your work can be fun, not drudgery.

5) Focus
Believing that you can “succeeding by helping others succeed”, can you a long way. Focusing on clients and helping them solve their problems through your products and services contributes more toward long-term success than just selling them products and services.

6) Self-discipline.
Self-discipline is definitely needed in any business especially when you work from home. No matter what you choose to do, if you do not have the discipline you will not succeed. You have to be a self-starter and know when to work and when to take time to do other things. No home business can survive without this.

7) Marketing skills.
Marketing is a skill and like any other skill, it can be developed through knowledge and practice. You can never learn too much about marketing. Find ways to market your business both online and offline, and you will have more success.

You, Too, Can “Work From Home”!
As more and more employees of large corporations have discovered, there is no such thing as job security. Seniority no longer takes a part in how things are handled. For these reasons alone there is no time like the present to move on and start working from home.

There is far more to be learned about working from home, but this article should have given you ideas as to what to look at when you are ready to make that jump.

Molding Leather Armor

Tuesday, June 20th, 2006

In order to mould leather armor, soak it in water until it becomes pliable and soft. Then place it in the mould until it dries and hardens.

Cuir Bouilli

The application of heat will make the leather harder. If you were making a cover for a shield, for example, or other pieces of leather amour, the leather would be dipped quickly in boiling water before being moulded. This is called `cuir bouilli’, a process employed in making leather armor.

Using vegetable tanned leather with at least a weight of 8 ounces, soak the piece in cold water. This will ensure a uniform absorption when the leather armor is placed in the boiling water. Heat a pot of water to 180 degrees Fahrenheit, then immerse the wet leather for approximately thirty seconds to a minute, until it darkens and begins to curl.

Remove the leather from the water and stretch it around the mould you have prepared, tacking it in place. Allow for shrinkage if you are cutting the leather armor from a pattern. Of course you can water-harden a larger piece of leather, flatten it under a cutting board, and then cut out the individual pieces of leather armor you want, and then mould them to the desired shape. At this stage it will be very stretchy.

The boiling process makes the leather armor thicker and harder, with a degree of shrinkage dependent upon the leather itself and the amount of immersion time. The longer it remains in the water, the more pronounced the effects.

A twenty second immersion can result in a shrinkage of 7/8s, with a thickening of 25%, while a forty second immersion results in a 2/3rds shrinkage and a doubling of the thickness. As in any aspect of leather working, it is best to experiment with scrap pieces of leather first to get the effect you want.

Types of Moulds / Single Mould

Moulds can consist of one or more pieces. Folding the leather around the actual object for which a cover is being made, where the mould is the object, is an option when making a case for a gun, an arm guard in archery, a sheaf for a knife or eye-caps for binoculars. Use tacks to hold it in place while it dries.

A Two-piece Mould

A two-piece mould acts like two slices of bread, with the leather being the sandwich filling. In this way, leather armor shields were made. The leather armor is left in the mould until it dries.

A Three-piece Mould

A three-piece mould allows the creation of items like bags and eyeglass cases without using a gusset. The leather is sewn on three sides. Two pieces of the mould are inserted on either side of the interior of the wet leather, and then a wedge is driven between the middle. The forms are left until the leather is dried.

Tools to Use

* Wooden mould
* Brass or steel tacks

Summary

* Make a mould to form the leather to the desired shape
* Wet the leather
* One piece mould: fit the wet leather armor over the mould
* Two piece mould: sandwich the leather between the mould
* Three piece mould: fit the pieces inside the leather
* Leave the leather armor to dry before removing

Chicago – The Windy City

Tuesday, June 20th, 2006

Chicago was founded in the early 1800s and served as a connection between the developed East Coast and the enlarged Wild West. On the shores of Lake Michigan, the development of suburbia and skyscrapers was low but persistent. Though the devastating fire of 1871 grounded Chicago, it came back again and this time growth took pace every decade. By 1900, it crossed the mark of two million people.

Chicago is now the third largest city in the United States next to New York City and Los Angeles, California. Not only being the third largest city in the U.S, Chicago also ranks among the world’s leading industrial and transportation centers

>From what I have read, Chicago is nicknamed the windy city for different reasons. The first reason is that the Mayor of Chicago boasted so much about Chicago hosting the worlds fair, which implied the Mayor was windy. Another reason was that the politicians in the Chicago are full of hot air therefore implying the windy city. The last reason is that the editor of a newspaper was trying to promote Chicago as a summer resort and used Lake Michigan’s summer breeze as a selling point. I do not know which of the reasons above gave Chicago its nickname the windy city but they all seem to make sense to me.

Chicago is also renowned for its excellent art institutions and museums, great food and great jazz music. If you have an appetite for sports, Chicago has the legendary Bulls, Bears, and Cubs, which are well known all over the world.

Chicago is a wonderful place to visit. The fever of Chicago will impress you.

Computer Components for Idiots

Tuesday, June 20th, 2006

There are many fancy add-ons for computers, but the basic components of the computer are simple and universal. If 1 of these main components is missing, it’s not a computer.

The 4 essentials of every computer system are: a motherboard, a Central Processing Unit (CPU), memory, and a hard drive. These components are installed in a case to which are attached a monitor, a keyboard and a mouse. That’s your basic computer.

Mother WHAT?

The motherboard (“mobo” for short) is the foundation. Everything attaches to the mobo — the CPU, memory, hard drive, monitor, mouse, keyboard, add-on cards, even additional peripherals like printers, scanners, and speakers. The motherboard is like the nervous system and skeleton of the human body — it provides support for the internal components and also passes information between the computer parts.

CPU

If the motherboard is the nervous system, then the CPU is the brain. Most of the mathematical manipulations that make computers operate are done by the CPU. Other components may also have their own processors, but their results still have to be passed through the CPU.

The speed of the computer is usually measured by the speed of the CPU. Even though other factors also affect overall speed, the CPU rating is generally seen as the single most important measure of performance.

Modern CPUs are usually rated between 2.0 GHz and 3.0 GHz, although each passing month will see increasing performance. This measurement refer to the number of calculations the processor can make in 1 second. The higher the number, the faster (better) the computer.

CPUs generate a lot of heat doing this work, so they need a heat sink and fan to keep them from overheating. Heat is a major enemy of the computer and directly affects its life span.

Computer Memory

RAM (Random Access Memory) is the part of the computer that stores information the computer needs while it is operating. It is Random Access because the computer can get the data in any order, not necessarily the order in which it is stored. Generally speaking, the more RAM the better. 512 to 1024 megabytes is common for memory.

The most common type of RAM these days is DDR-SDRAM, which stands for double-data-rate synchronous dynamic random access memory. We already know what the RAM part means. DDR means that the data is accessed twice as fast as ordinary RAM.

The latest type of RAM is DDR2. It offers even faster access rates and is quickly becoming the standard for computer memory.

Hard Drive

All the data contained in RAM is lost when the computer is turned off, so there has to be a place to store it permanently. This is what the hard disk is for.

It holds the computer’s operating system. An operating system like Windows uses around 4 gigabytes of hard drive space. The extra space is used to install computer programs and to store your personal data.

80 gigabyte hard drives are common, but 400 GB units are available. Furthermore, you can install more than 1 in a computer case for added security and convenience.

Peripherals

All you need to complete the basic computer system is a monitor, keyboard and mouse.

Accessories like a printer or scanner are useful for office work, and gamers will probably want to add speakers and joystick controls.

So there you have it. The basic computer needs just 7 major components. For the best performance, these components must integrate well. The motherboard is the most important component for determining the type and specification of the other parts. Choosing an appropriate mobo for your computer needs is the first step and may require a quick call to your local geek.

Soon YOU will be considered the local geek!

Sewing – A Wonderful Pastime

Tuesday, June 20th, 2006

To think that in the beginning the only sewing patterns used were to measure from ankle to dirt and chop off the animal skin so that it would not drag on the ground. Now you can get sewing patterns for everything from a simple square sewn together to create a throw pillow to an elaborate wedding dress. You can find sewing patterns by the thousands at any fabric or specialty store, and find specialized catalogues, which cater to custom sewing patterns for any size and style. You can now also buy sewing patterns online from all the classic pattern manufacturers, and the technology of the internet allows formerly unknown pattern manufacturers a chance for the spotlight.

Sewing patterns are simply sheets of tissue paper, which are marked with the dimensions needed in order to produce the garment pictured on the front of the package. When laying sewing patterns on the fabric be sure to avoid laying them on the wrong size or against the wrong part of the grain. It is advisable to take a sewing class before you tackle a pattern, which can be daunting to the novice seamstress.

Sewing can be a wonderful pastime. Sewing patterns for clothes, plush toys, home d‚cor, etc. are endless. Stop in any fabric store and look at the array of fabrics to compliment your home d‚cor or your fashion statement. Many fabric shops offer free or low cost sewing lessons. If you need a wonderful hobby, then sewing could be your answer.

Self-Realization | How it can be achieved within ones life time

Tuesday, June 20th, 2006

Self Realization: How to achieve it within ones life time

Before we dwell on the subject of Self Realization we need to understand the real meaning of gaining self realization.

Nowadays so many self realization centres all over the world like self realization fellowship in Seattle, self-realization Boston, Atlanta self-realization and Mt. Washington Self Realization claim to offer self realization. Before one starts on the journey of self realization… the concept of self realization must become absolutely clear.

Self realization is the process by which any human being can realize his real self. And what does this real self mean? It means that our soul (atman) within our body which is the real self within every being (and for that matter every living being) reaches the fag end of its cosmic life.

No further manifestations… this soul (atman) liberates forever from the chain of manifestations. The dross having been completely removed… our soul (atman within us) becomes free forever. It shall not be required to manifest a body again.

Does this mean that the cosmic life cycle which every soul (atman) was required to pass through after manifesting a maximum of 8.4 million manifestations and an earthly journey of 96.4 million years has come to an end? Yes, it is so! And we can safely say that one has realized his real self.

Here we need to understand the relationship between our real self, the soul (atman) and the body taken by it. Unless this relationship is absolutely clear we shall never be able to understand the true meaning of self realization. The claim by many that they have realized self is arbitrary as in the last 150 years only two persons have reached the level of self realization.

Both Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Maharishi Ramana reached the stage of self realization in their lifetime. They reached the cosmic goal of their life… gained self realization before they left their mortal frame.

Self realization is not easy to achieve! Why would God the Almighty make the cosmic journey a long one and that too consisting of 8.4 million manifestations? It is not a simple joke. The process of self realization has to be understood in totality before one proceeds on the path of self realization within his lifetime and reaches the end.

The relationship between the soul (atman within us) and the body taken by it can be explained as follows-

Let us take a block of gold ore weighing about hundred kilograms. Let us presume it contains 1 kg of pure gold. Now this 1 kg of pure gold is the soul (atman within us) which is sandwiched between the dross (impurities) contained within the ore.

This 1 kg of pure gold cannot on its own separate out from the gold ore. It requires the requisite
Machinery and the processing to separate out 1 kg of pure gold from the 99 kg of impurities contained within the ore.

Likewise every soul (atman within the body) requires a body to work out its karma and remove the dross within. As the manifestations continue… the journey of the soul which starts with taking the body of an amoeba (single cell formation) gradually evolves into higher manifestations… the multi-cell formations.

As the soul (atman) proceeds on the journey of life for it to gain self realization in the end… this multi-cell formation further evolves into insect life. With passage of time and passing of millions of years… this insect life further evolutes into plant life.

This plant life in the last leg of its manifestation evolves into animal life and finally takes the form of a human being. Already 7.3 million manifestations have passed before reaching the stage of a human being.

After having passed through such a long journey on the path of evolution… In the present life if a human being indulges in fulfilling wanton desires… it shall be made clear that such indulgences shall never lead to self realization.

Indulgences and fulfilling of wanton desires is absolutely contrary to proceeding on the path of self realization. It is only after reaching the stage of human being can a soul liberate itself forever from the cycle of birth and death… and finally reach the stage of self realization. Never before!

How lucky a human being is! It is only as human beings can one reach the stage of self realization. All the intermittent stages of heaven (Swarga) and hell (Naraka) never lead to self realization.

As clearly mentioned in the Hinduism Scriptures… even in the stage of a human being there are about 11 million types of manifestations. It is a long journey before one rarely reaches the stage of self realization.

We must really understand that self realization is not a goal of life… it is the end of the journey itself. After having reached the stage of self realization… every self realized soul has but to leave for the abode of God (Baikuntha as we call it in Hinduism).

All man gods like Mahavira, Gautama Buddha, Jesus Christ and Prophet Mohammed gained self realization in their lifetime… they cleared all the hurdles and reached the pinnacle of their cosmic life. The life for them had come full circle. Beyond self realization there is nothing left to be achieved in the whole of Cosmos.

Call it self realization or enlightenment… the moment one reaches this stage… there is nothing more which can be achieved further. It is after self realization when one leaves the mortal frame for ever… the process is known as having achieved salvation (moksha in Hinduism).

In short simple steps I shall define how self realization can be achieved by any human being…

Before we reach the stage of self realization we need to gain absolute control over the senses and the mind. The control of the senses and the mind can be established by practicing yoga in the Shavasana pose and also Neti as practiced and advocated by Maharishi Ramana.

The Shavasana pose in yoga and the process of Neti is a sure shot path to gaining self realization within ones lifetime. Slowly and steadily one reaches the stage of Nirvikalpa samadhi! This is the stage when one comes face to face with God the Almighty.

Having reached the stage of Nirvikalpa samadhi… gaining self realization is not far! We also need to practice absolute celibacy for a continuous period of 12 years minimum… this is an absolute must!

Those who dare not practiced celibacy… must leave the desire for ever gaining self realization within ones lifetime. It is just not possible. Practice of celibacy and that too absolute… Is a must! It has to be practiced at all costs.

Sexual indulgences have no place in the field of self realization. We have to preserve our cosmic energies… the monthly quota given to us by God failing which the awakening of the kundalini can never occur. Sexuality and self realization are absolutely contradictory.

Whatever was practiced by Acharya Rajneesh (nee Osho) was in total contradiction to the established practice of gaining self realization. Practicing sex and yoga is a taboo… if we ever need to reach the stage of self realization in this life… we have to stop our indulgence in sexual practices altogether.

The awakening of the kundalini carries with it the absolute guarantee of one having reached the stage of self realization. It is only after the kundalini is fully awakened does one reach the stage of self realization. The full-bloom has to occur… there is no escape whatsoever!

For the awakening of the kundalini… preserving and transmuting the cosmic energies to creative uses is a must. This monthly quota of cosmic energy available to every man and woman is the grace of God available to every human being. Why criticize God?

I again repeat that practice of absolute celibacy on the path of self realization is the most difficult part one shall encounter. And unless the kundalini energy is fully awakened… one can never hope to reach the stage of self realization ever.

I started in search of God when I was 11 years of age… proceeding on the uncharted territory of spirituality was sometimes very scary. None to guide… it took me almost 25 years before I gained self realization at the age of 37.

It was the most glorious moment of my life as the life itself had come full circle… everything contained in the Cosmos… every scripture belonging to every religion was now like ABCD to me. Reaching the stage of self realization just cannot be expressed in words. Self realization has to be experienced.

Having reached the stage of self realization… God has forbid me to earn money other than fulfilling my basic needs. I have maintained my body until the time I am able to disseminate those pearls of wisdom which I have gained with the grace of God on the path of self realization!

God has been graceful to me all throughout… imparting the sacred wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita to the world community through the medium of Internet is the present aim of my life.

The doctrine of the Bhagavad Gita imparted by Lord Sri Krishna to Arjuna in the battlefield of Kurukshetra contains those pearls of wisdom knowing which every human being becomes entitled to gaining self realization within ones lifetime!

What Are the Best Exercises for the Golfer?

Tuesday, June 20th, 2006

With all the talk about the players on tour getting stronger and more flexible, we hear a lot about exercising for golf from television commentators and read about it in the golf publications. But what exactly are the best exercises for the amateur golfer?

A great question that has a good answer, but before we give you the answer let us provide some background so the answer makes a little more sense to you. First of all, discussing the golf swing for the time being will get us rolling.

What exactly is the golf swing? The golf swing is an athletic movement that requires using of the entire body from “feet to fingertips” in order to complete the swing. Realize that the golf swing is not about the club, not just about your grip, or where your head is during the swing. The golf swing is a movement that requires your entire body to move through a sequence of movements with the correct timing. To perform the “athletic movement” of the golf swing requires the body to begin at address, move through the actual phases of the golf swing and complete it with the follow through. In order to perform this activity with efficiency and repetitively, the body must have certain physical parameters.

These parameters, as I call them, are actual physical categories of the body that need to be developed to a certain level. These categories of the body are the platform from which the body is able to perform the athletic movement of a golf swing efficiently. The categories are probably familiar to many of you, but for the purpose of this article let us briefly run through them.

The body is required to have certain levels of flexibility, balance, endurance, strength, and power to complete a golf swing. If the body lacks in any of the above categories, then the results will be seen in the golf swing. The results are usually in the form of poor mechanics, bad shots, or poor scores on the course. So, now that we know what the connection is between the “body” and the “swing” let us address the question about the best exercises for golf.

The Best Exercises for Golf

Let’s say you walk into your local health club and see all the fancy machines and aerobic machines at the facility to get you shape. What ones would choose? Would you choose running on the treadmill for 30 minutes, or would it be better to push out a couple sets of bench presses? Well, the answer to our question really lies within the connection between your swing and your body.

I will tell you that exercises meant to “pump you up!” or give you that “six pack” are not necessarily the correct exercises for your golf game. Neither is that weight training program you used back in high school. So, with those thoughts in mind what do you think the best exercises for golf are?

Right now we know, in general terms about the golf swing, what is required of the body for the golf swing and what exercises are not good for the swing. Armed with that knowledge we can decipher what the best exercises for golf are for you.

Beginning with flexibility, we know that the entire body must move through certain ranges of motion to perform an effective golf swing. And what happens if your body is not able to move through the required ranges of motion of the golf swing? The answer: the golf swing will mechanically suffer resulting in shots that are less than optimal. So part of the exercises that are good for golfers are flexibility exercises and, even more so, flexibility exercises that work the muscles used in the golf swing through the movements involved in the golf swing. So first and foremost flexibility exercises should be on the top of your list.

The second category of exercises that would be conducive to the golf swing would have to do with balance. We hear about balance in reference to the golf swing all the time. “Stay balanced through the swing; transfer your weight to maintain balance during the swing.” But what does balance exactly mean? Balance is the ability to control your body through a specific movement pattern. The movement pattern we are discussing just happens to be the golf swing. We know the importance of balance in relation to the golf swing, so how do we train our body for better balance in the golf swing? Before we answer that question we need to know a little more about balance. Balance in relation to the body has to do with the connection between your nerves and muscles. Essentially your nervous system, as a result of messages sent from your brain, tells your muscles how to move to maintain the body’s balance. The more efficient your nerves and muscles are to these messages the greater balance abilities the body develops. So balance exercises train both the nervous system and muscular system to become more efficient at this function. Summing it all up, balance is the second category of exercises that will assist your golf game.

The third category of exercises that are beneficial to golf have to do with your muscles. The golf swing requires the muscles of your body to move through a specific range of motion (flexibility) and help with your balance capacities. In order to perform these actions and others, your body needs certain levels of strength and endurance. The definition of strength is the ability of the muscles to exert force for the given “athletic action” (simplified definition but a good working definition for us). Endurance is the ability of your muscles to do the same activity over and over again for a specific amount of time.

First off, let us discuss strength. The golf swing has one intention of developing club head speed while maintaining balance through the swing. The muscles in your body must have enough strength in them to do both. Now, when we discuss building strength for the golf swing it is NOT the type of strength needed to bench press 250 lbs. Or squat 500! It is strength geared towards the improvement of your swing. I refer to this type of strength as “golf strength.” So when you get to the gym, performing strength exercises like bench press will not help your swing. Exercises that train the body in the positions and through the movements of the golf swing will help your swing.

In addition to strength, we need to develop endurance in your muscles. Think of how many swings you may take over the course of 18 holes. In order for you to be able to swing the club the same way on the 18th hole as you did on the 1st hole. Your body has to have high levels of endurance. This will allow your body to perform the golf swing without getting tired. You develop endurance similar to how you develop “golf strength.” Utilize exercises that train the body in the positions and through the movements of the golf swing. Lighter loads with higher repetitions will be used for these exercises. The end result will be the development of “golf endurance.”

The final segment of exercises beneficial to your golf swing is power training. Power training is geared towards the ability of your body to generate high levels of club head speed. Power development by the body is what allows for greater distance on your shots. Clubs help, golf balls help, but it really comes down to the piece of machinery, your body, swinging those club and hitting those golf balls. Development of power for the golf swing is very similar to the development of “golf strength and endurance.” It is the utilization of exercises that place your body in the positions and move you through movements similar to the golf swing.

Summary

So there you have it, the answer to the types of exercises best for the improvement of your golf swing. I think you now realize it is not one exercise, but a group of exercises that incorporate flexibility, balance, endurance, strength, and power. A combination of these exercises is what will enhance your golf swing. Looking for specific exercises? Take a look at our website www.bioforcegolf.com

What Do the Core and the Golf Swing have in Common Part II?

Tuesday, June 20th, 2006

In part one of this article we discussed the core and its relation to the golf swing. A quick review of the information in article one will indicate a definitive connection between the “athletic movements” of a golf swing and the core section of the body. Prior to beginning this article let us take a brief moment to review information provided in the first article on this topic.

A quick review will indicate that the core is an anatomical region of the body. This region of the body consists of all the muscles, ligaments, tendons, and neural structures, located from the hips to the lower chest. This comprises all of the structures of: the hips, abdominals, low back, and obliques (side abdominals). In addition to describing the anatomical region of the core, part one of this article described the following: the relationship between the core and golf swing in the specific areas of range of motion, coordination, speed of motion, and balance. Part two of this article will discuss core flexibility, strength, endurance, and power. We will relate these three additional topics to the golf swing as we did in part one.

Recalling from the first article, range of motion is directly related to distance. Distance that a body moves in a specific amount of time when discussing biomechanics. Relating range of motion to the golf swing indicates that the greater range of motion that the core mechanism of the body can move through, the greater amount of force can be created to deliver into the club head.

The second topic discussed in article one was speed of motion. Remember, speed of motion is directly related to range of motion. Speed of motion is essentially adding a component of time to range of motion. The faster that an object or the body can move through a specific range of motion, the greater amount of force can be created through this range of motion.

Thirdly, we introduced coordination. Coordination is the ability to time the movements of the body in the correct sequence to perform the activity desired. This requires the body to move through the required ranges of motion with the correct speed of motion.

The final topic discussed in section one of this article was balance. Balance is the ability of the body to maintain a center of gravity during a movement. Increased balance allows for greater accuracy with athletic activities. Moving forward into section two of this article, we build upon the information discussed in article one. Relevancy to the core and the golf swing is easily seen when connecting these topics (range of motion, speed of motion, coordination, and balance) to the athletic movement associated with the golf swing.

Flexibility

Flexibility is the range of motion around a joint and is influenced by skeletal structures, ligaments, muscles tissues, and joint capsule type. Range of motion is a result of the deformation of soft tissues (i.e. muscle tissue, ligaments, and tendons) surrounding a joint. Flexibility is essentially the ability of the neuromuscular to create a desired range of motion by the body. The golf swing requires the core, and the entire body, to move through a specified range of motion to create contact with the golf ball. Limitations in flexibility can create the inability of the body to move through the required ranges of motion at the correct speed to perform a golf swing. This will result in numerous problems as a result of poor mechanics in the swing. A direct connection exists between range of motion, speed of motion, and flexibility. If flexibility is limited the result will be limitations in ranges of motion and speeds of motion.

Strength

Strength can be defined as the ability of the neuromuscular system (neural system, muscular system) to create and exert force. A lack of strength limits the ability of the body to create force for a given athletic movement. In relationship to the golf swing, strength is a required component of the core. A large proportion of the force created in the golf swing is a result of the lower body and core musculature system. As a result, creating the force needed to develop club head speed is directly related to strength levels within these structures of the body. A lack of strength lessens to a degree the amount of force that can be created in the golf swing, thus reducing the amount of club head speed available to the golfer.

Endurance

Endurance is the ability of the neuromuscular structures (muscular system, neural system, ligaments, and tendons) to perform the same athletic movement repeatedly over a specific amount of time. The golf swing is a repetitive athletic movement requiring the neuromuscular system to perform the same neuromuscular activity over and over again for a given number of swings, time, etc. This requires the body to move through a specific range of motion, with the correct speed of motion, coordinating the movements in the correct sequence, with the required force outputs (i.e. strength), and correct levels of endurance. A lack of endurance in the neuromuscular system will limit the ability of the individual to perform the components required of the golf swing listed above.

Power

Power is the ability to create the greatest amount of force in a specified amount of time. Power is contingent upon the combination of strength and speed of motion. These two components working in conjunction create power. A decrease in strength or speed of motion limits the ability of power production by the neuromuscular system. The golf swing requires the body to produce power to deliver into the club head. The amount of time to perform this is limited and contained within the ranges of motion through which the body moves during the golf swing. The point to be made is that a direct connection exists for power production between range of motion, speed of motion, and strength. These three components working together determine the power outputs created by the body during the golf swing.

Summary

This article discussed an additional four components that are relevant to the core structure of the body and the golf swing. The key point to make between the topics discussed in this article and article number one is the connection between all of these components. Range of motion, speed of motion, balance, and coordination are contingent upon the points discussed in this article. The ability of the body to swing a golf club requires the ability of the body to have the required ranges of motion, speeds of motion, balance, and coordination to perform the swing. The development of flexibility, strength, endurance, and power within the body allows for these activities to occur. Thus all eight of these components (range of motion, speed of motion, balance, coordination, flexibility, strength, endurance, and power) are interconnected to perform a golf swing. The relationship to the core and these activities is a follows: the core region of the body is a main component of the golf swing. It is utilized greatly in all aspects of the golf swing from maintaining balance to creating power. The core can be considered to be the “engine” of the golf swing. The Top Twelve Threats No Computer User Should Ignore

The Top Twelve Threats No Computer User Should Ignore
The internet is undoubtedly a fantastic resource for families and offers a rich vein of educational content.
However, there are potential dangers – welcome to the seedy world of viruses, spam, trojans, pornography, spyware and other nasties.

Here are the Top Twelve Threats No Computer User Should Ignore:

1. Viruses – A computer program that copies itself. They often disrupt your computer system or damage your data. Viruses are usually received by email attachments so be careful opening anything from a dubious source. They can affect anyone, for example, the destructive Mydoom worm affected one out of three small and mid-sized businesses.

2. Spyware – Sends information about you and your computer to somebody else. Spyware may send the addresses of sites you have visited or worse still, transmit personal information. With today’s concerns about identify theft this is a real worry. For example, CoolWebSearch may hijack web searches, home page, and other Internet Explorer settings. Spyware is normally received as part of shareware or freeware downloaded from the web.

3. IP Spoofing – A technique to gain unauthorized access to computers, whereby the intruder sends messages to a computer with an address indicating that the message is coming from a trusted host.

4. Trojans – An apparently legitimate computer program that is really intended to disrupt and damage computer activity by sending information, perhaps even passwords onto a third party without you knowing. As an example, recent emails entitled “Osama Bin Laden Captured” attempted to download the “Trj/Small.B.” Trojan if the embedded URL was clicked. This trojan attempts to hijack the PC.

5. Spam – Unsolicited mail often promoting products of a dubious financial or sexual nature. Don’t leave your email address on websites and internet bulletin boards as they are harvested by spammers.

6. Adware – puts advertisements on your screen. These take many forms including popups, popunders and advertisements that appear later, even if your browser is closed. Some are sent using the Windows Messenger service which allows a spammer to direct an advertisement straight to your computer by sequentially sending messages to IP addresses. Always irritating, they are also often of a pornographic nature.

7. Diallers – for those of us still with dial up modems, dialler programs redirect calls to a very expensive number. You won’t know until you get the bill.

8. Hijackers – Hijackers take control of your web browser and may reset your home page, search bar and search pages. They can redirect you to undesirable sites or stop you going to particular sites.

9. Hackers – With so much personal data available online to anyone with a password you must be sure your password is secure. If you are using your mother’s maiden name, your cat’s name or your birthday then your password is at risk. Here are two tips for making a secure password. Method One – pick two random unrelated three letter words and two digits. Mix them up and what do you have? A secure password such as “red19cat” or “hotpin73″. Method Two – pick a short sequence of words such as Now Is The Winter Of Our Discontent Made Glorious’ and you have a password of “nitwoodmg”. You could even change the I’s and O’s to digits.

10. Phishing – Emails purporting to come from reliable sources such as Paypal, Ebay or your bank. Often wanting you to verify your account details, they can look very realistic but are generally scams to harvest usernames and passwords. Always open a new browser winder and type the address there, rather than clicking on the link provided.

11. Hoaxes – Chain letters, scams, false alarms. At best they take up time and bandwidth but at worst vulnerable can be victims of fraud. Pass it on!

12. Stranger-danger – For those of us with children – do you know what they actually do when they are online? Are they working on homework tasks, downloading illegal music or pornography? Or are they chatting to strangers in chat rooms? You should consider blocking access to undesirable sites and logging their activity with a surveillance tool. Oh, and don’t forget that where children are concerned, computers should always be kept in a family room and never in their bedroom.

Three Step Action Plan

There are three essential steps that should be taken to ensure your PC is kept threat-free.

Firstly, be sensible when opening attachments or following email instructions from apparently reputable sites.

Secondly, make sure you are using the latest service pack of Windows as Microsoft is continually closing loopholes to tighten up security.

Finally, there’s a range of low cost tools such as firewalls, antivirus, spam blockers and spyware killers available. Like everything else they vary in quality and you tend to get what you pay for so always do your research first and perhaps try a free trial before getting your credit card out.

Articles – Do They Open The Way To Search Engine Rankings?

Tuesday, June 20th, 2006

Who doesn’t want to get high rankings in the search engines their website. I’ve read everywhere and have been sold a bill of goods that writing and publishing your own articles get you to the top of the search engines.

Think this through with me. You will see for yourself it’s not altogether true.

Let me paint a picture for you. . . You pick a keyword or keyphrase and write an article using your keyword or keyphrase that you think will rank well.

Next you submit your article to all the places you can submit articles
to, ezines, directories and article submission sites. (I know what I’m talking about, because I did this very thing). Wow! Your article gets published in many places, maybe hundreds.

Now you have hundreds of links pointing back to your main site. But what I found to be true was my own site never shows
up in the top ten results for that specific keyword or keyphrase.

Rather, you discover that there are lots of other sites carrying your article that out rank yours. You’ve lost a great opportunity to reach high rankings for your keyword or
keyphrase.

What have I done wrong, you ask yourself. Why you just gave your keyword filled article to possible people who
compete with you because they can publish your article on their website. They get the high ranking and your
ranking stays the same.

So, how did this happen? Right from the start, your article was used for the wrong purpose. (This was a hard lesson for me to discover).

The right way to use articles to hike up your search engine rankings.

ú Putting one of a kind articles on your website
Articles made available for reprint by you, now have the possibility of being published on hundreds of other sites,
which means, they no longer meet the requirements as one of a kind or unique content.

ú Feed the Spider
Look at this way. Your articles are like crumbs dropped along a path.

When you publish your articles all over the web it’s like leaving a trail of food for someone to follow (the search engines in this case). But where do you want the search engines to go as they follow the trail (food for the Spider)? BACK TO YOUR WEBSITE!

Back to your one of a kind content (such as a report, article you wrote just for your website.)

ú Keywords – Place keywords in your Resource Box As Anchor Text.
This is the important point. Place your keyword or keyphrase in the anchor text of the article resource box that has a link pointing back to your unique content.

What happens is you make hundreds of keyword links pointing back to the your well optimized report on your website, and give your pages a gigantic advantage
over other websites.

Many times this alone is enough to take your Website to the top of the search results, particularly with Google and MSN.

These tips are a few steps you need to get a high ranking for the keywords that you have chosen.

Short hair style? Make it stylish, sexy and chic

Short hair style? Make it stylish, sexy and chic

In all of its transformations and variations, the short hair style has always been numbered at the top of the list when it comes to versatility, style and manageability. No other style catches the eye quite like the short hair style and no other style makes the wearer look as professional, chic and sexy as the short hair style

Short hair styles worn by women are a fairly new style trend when compared with women’s hair styles in general. In fact, cropped styles only came to the forefront of fashion a little more than 50 years ago. Since that time, the short hair style has given women the freedom to express themselves in numerous ways. From the funky and spiked to the soft and feminine, the short hair style can be worn by any woman of any personality, style and age.

Short hair no matter what the age

It has long been a held belief that an older woman should wear a short hair style to make her appear younger. While there is some truth in the belief that long hair tends to make wrinkles and flaws more noticeable, short hair styles and long hair styles can both be worn by women of all ages if they choose the right style to compliment their particular face shape and bone structure.

A good rule of thumb to follow when it comes to choosing a short hair style to suit your age is to pay more attention to your overall appearance rather than focus too much on how old you are. For example: Trendy, spiked styles can emphasize flaws and sagging skin, but I have seen women in their 70s with exceptional bone structure wear these short hair styles and look amazing. On the other hand, I have also seen younger women try to wear these same short hair styles and not be able to quite carry it off. So, if you want to wear a short hair style, pay close attention to your face shape, build and style of dress before deciding how to cut your hair.

Short hair to flatter your face

I’ve heard it said many times by many people, “I always wanted to wear a short hair style, but I don’t look right with short hair” Ladies, this is nonsense. Granted, not every woman can wear every short hair style, but every woman can wear a short hair style that is tailor-made to compliment their face shape and beautiful features.

There are five basic face shapes: oval, heart, round, square and triangular. All of these shapes can be beautiful, but one is ideal: oval. No matter what shaped face you have, achieving the perfect look involves picking the right cut or short hair style that will make your face appear more oval.

To do this, you and your stylists can try different variations of popular short hair styles to compliment your individual features. For example: If you have a round face shape, you can still wear your favorite short hair style as long as you bring some hair forward on your cheekbones and wear a little height in the bang to give your face the illusion that it is oval.

The bottom line is that the short hair style is not for just a few who have been blessed with perfectly proportioned features. With the right short hair style, you too can sport trendy sexy cropped locks that will be guaranteed to turn a few heads.

Old Garden Roses — A Proven Winner For Your Garden

Tuesday, June 20th, 2006

Old Garden Roses are any of the rose varieties that were recognized prior to 1867, the year in which the first modern rose, the hybrid tea, was introduced.

Major Classes

The major classes of Old Garden Roses are: bourbons, noisettes, portlands, species, centifolias, albas, chinas, damasks, hybrid perpetuals, moss roses, gallicas, and teas.

Often referred to as “Old Fashioned,” or “Antique Roses,” these roses are the predecessors to some of the most beautiful modern hybrids. Although some are native to the United States, the majority are from Europe and Asia.

Unlike Modern Roses, which are applauded for their vibrant colors, compact buds, and recurrent blooming, Old Garden Roses are usually pastel in color and are single-blooming. Their much anticipated annual blooms have come to symbolize the arrival of summer.

These flowers are true survivors. Most Old Garden Roses are hardy even in the coldest and harshest weather conditions. It sometimes seems as if they can withstand anything. Their versatility can rarely be matched by any other class of rose.

Planting

Like all roses, Old Garden Roses flourish best when planted in a favorable location. They need at least 6 hours in direct sunlight daily. The ideal location for your Old Garden Roses is an open area, away from shade trees. The soil in this area should be well drained and fertilized prior to planting.

Soil preparation is a very important element in growing healthy, beautiful roses. You should add a large quantity of organic material such as manure to the flower bed prior to planting. The fertilizer will enrich the soil and aid in water drainage. It is highly recommended that you prepare your garden soil several months in advance to allow the nutrients to settle. Your Old Garden Roses will prosper in this rich environment.

Once your flower bed is prepared and settled, you’re ready to begin planting, a very easy task. Dig a hole about 1 foot in depth and diameter. Remove the plant from its pot. Carefully untangle any loose roots and place the plant directly into the hole. Fill any remaining space with loose soil. You won’t need any soil additives at this time.

Be sure to saturate the ground with water. Your new plant will require water on a daily basis for 3 weeks. Any time the ground looks dry, give your plant a quick shower.

Effortless Beauty

Mulch can truly be a rose gardener’s best friend. It repels weeds and is great for holding moisture, which encourages your flowers to bloom radiantly in the summer months. Don’t worry about diseases unless you see strange spots on the foliage. Although Old Garden Roses are not 100% disease-free, they are known to be highly disease resistant. It is quite rare for a disease to debilitate these plants. They’re extremely tough and very self-maintaining.

For a beautiful addition to your rose garden, treat yourself to 1 of these Old Garden Rose varieties. The blooms and their fragrances are sure to please your senses. That is why these roses have withstood the test of time.

How to Buy the Right Carry Bag for Your Ipaq PDA.

Tuesday, June 20th, 2006

Once you have purchased an Ipaq PDA you next step will be to find a nice bag or case to carry it in. You want to protect your investment with a durable case. You should also make sure that your new case meets your needs. Bag-like cases offer you space as well as safety. Learning about the different styles will help you chose a case or bag that meets your needs.

There are some really good reasons to buy a case or bag for your Ipaq PDA. The main reason may be to protect the PDA from breaking. If you have a sturdy case it can protect your PDA if it is accidentally dropped or stepped on. You can also protect your PDA from weather conditions if you are going to be using it outside often. Water damage to a PDA can be fatal.

You will probably get a generic case from the manufacturer with your PDA. It will most likely be simple and constructed of cardboard and plastic. It may work for simple protection, like keeping your screen from getting scratched, but for more serious protection you need to get another sturdier case. The investment you make in a new case or bag is well worth the protection you get for your investment in your PDA.

The types of cases vary from soft to hard covers. You can also get extra storage. There are soft covered cases that open up like a book with your PDA on one side and room on the other for a notepad. There are hard cases that offer the most extreme protection against any possible harm. Bag type cases are soft and look like a mini duffel bag. They not only house your PDA, but offer many different storage areas for your cell phone, a small snack, car keys or whatever you need to take with you.

These bag type cases reduce the need for you to carry a purse or other bag and use only your PDA case. Another thing you may want to look at is how your PDA fits into the case. If you are going to want to use your PDA while it is in the case and it is a generic case that is not made specifically for your Ipaq then you may end up with problems.

Buttons could be covered, the screen covered or speakers not clear so the sound is muffled. If you hook connections into your PDA often you should make sure you can do so while it is in the case if you intend to keep it in the case while using. Check how easy it is to put your PDA in and take it out of the case. Chose a case that offers you the features you need.

Going over why you need a PDA case or bag and looking into the different options in cases will help you chose the best case for you. Be sure to consider how you use your PDA and if the case will effect how you use it. It doesn’t hurt to try on your PDA case and give it a practice round to see how it will work if you actually buy it.

Why El Cheapo Domains Will Cost You Money

Tuesday, June 20th, 2006

You want your own online business? Good because it’s one of the most fun things you can do with your spare time and can be very profitable.

Remember that just because it’s an online business doesn’t mean that you should treat it with any less professionalism or seriousness than you do your daytime job.

Why? Simply because when you run an online business it’s a serious business. Well it should be taken seriously if you want to make serious money.

One of the most important aspects of any online business is the domain name. This is where the vast majority of new online entrepreneurs make their first big mistake – they choose one of those free domain name providers to represent their business online. This is a critical mistake.

Let’s say you’re starting a computer repair business. Which one of the following domains looks better:

or;
‘computerfixer.freehosting.com’

The truth of the matter is that computerfixer.com is a top level domain and computerfixer.freehosting.com is a sub-domain. These free domain providers would have you believe that their cheapo subdomain is as good as a top level domain – this simply isn’t so.

Online shoppers expect your online business to be located on a top level domain. If they find your website on one of these cheap or free domain services you’ve just lost 50% of your potential customers. They’ll click back and look at the next search result in Google, Yahoo or MSN.

Free domains make you look cheap, show that you don’t want to invest in your business, that you don’t take your customers seriously, look terrible on business cards and make you look like an amateur. There aren’t any benefits to cutting corners on your domain name.

A domain name costs, at most, $15 per year. That’s 4 cents per day. If your business can’t afford this then you really shouldn’t be running an online business at all.

Use Climbing Roses For Vertical Beauty

Tuesday, June 20th, 2006

Add drama and color to your home with climbing roses. They can be trained around a trellis, a column, or a boundary. You can even let them climb up a wall of your house.

Some gardeners are leery of climbing roses because of concern that climbing roses can be damaged by cold weather; also because some types take years to reach full maturity. However, a wide selection of climbing roses can sustain harsh weather and bloom beautifully.

Rose Planting Time

The best time to plant any type of climbing rose is early spring. This will give your roses 6 months or more to get established before the cold sets in.

Before choosing your climbing rose, get acquainted with the 3 distinct categories of climbing roses: rambling roses, trailing roses, and true climbing roses.

Ramblers

The most intrusive climbing roses are the ramblers. These exuberant roses can grow up to 20 feet in 1 season. Although most of the roses from ramblers are quite small, many of the newer varieties produce larger roses. Unfortunately, ramblers tend to be susceptible to mildew.

Trailers

If you’re looking for a climbing rose that is tougher and less prone to mildew and disease, you might prefer a trailing rose. These climbers look great planted alongside walls. You should stake them, otherwise the long canes will grow along the ground instead of upright. Trailing roses typically have blooms 2 to 3 inches in diameter. 2 of the more popular trailing roses are the cultivars and Rosa Wichurana.

True Climbers

If you enjoy climbing roses with large flowers, true climbers fit the bill. These types of roses produce flowers in large clusters. There are 2 categories of true climbers: bush climbers, and climbing hybrid teas. Bush climbers will bloom throughout the season, while climbing hybrid teas may last only a few weeks. The bush climber has more resistance to mildew and disease than the climbing hybrid teas.

How to Plant Roses

Planting your roses is an easy task. The first thing is to pick your area. The hole should be approximately 1 foot from your trellis or wall, and be about 1 foot deep by 1 foot in diameter.

Once you’ve dug a hole, you’ll need to add organic matter. Well-rotted manure or compost are good. Next, carefully remove the rose from its container. If you come across tangled outer roots, gently untangle them with your fingers. Place your plant in the hole and fill it in with any extra soil. Then water it thoroughly.

How To Water & Train Your Roses

You should water your climbing roses at least once a week, saturating the soil.

Once your rose’s canes have grown long enough to reach the trellis or arch, tie the canes to the structure. Unlike a vine, which is equipped with tendrils, climbing roses need help to attach to a structure. You can tie them with a soft cloth or string. Remember to give the canes enough room for growth and expansion. Be sure not to tie them too tightly.

Choose the right climbing roses and they’ll beautify your home for years to come!

How and Why to Avoid the SEO Mania

Tuesday, June 20th, 2006

Introduction

Yes, just like you, I have read numerous articles about the benefits and necessity of search engine optimization (SEO). Search engine optimization is a technique of selecting specific keywords that position your website to be found easily and quickly by web surfers. And anyone who has a website with a product or service to sell wants to attract more web surfers, i.e., traffic.

The Why

But what is the reality of reaching a number 1 position on any of the big three search engines – Google, Yahoo, and MSN – and staying there? Somewhere between a remote possibility to impossible.

Why? Because there are well over 16 million websites battling for the number 1 position on “any” given day. Talk about too much competition for one, unique goal. You’d have more luck betting on the lottery, a game of blackjack, or a horse race.

It’s true, my opinion runs against the tide of SEO advocates – but let your own experience speak for itself. Are you number one on any of the big three? Do you understand the Google sandbox? Most people don’t. It is absolutely a waste of your online time to get caught up in this mania when there are sane alternatives available.

“So Gary, what’s the solution”? I am glad you asked. Let’s take a look at some “realistic” and doable activities that will bring you increased web traffic.

The How

You can …
1) Develop or buy a valuable, high demand product to sell (Ex: Microsoft Windows software)
2) Write great, useful news content for your readers (CNN.com and USA Today.com)
3) Create a web tool with great content that people need (Yahoo.com)
4) Devise a unique business model for an old market concept (auctions on ebay.com)
5) Get a cutting edge product or service that has an absolute or near monopoly and has mass-market appeal.
6) Write content-rich articles in an area in which you are the expert and submit them to related websites.
7) Write a weekly, monthly, or bi-monthly newsletter related to your interests. 8) Ask other webmasters to exchange their website addresses with yours.
9) Submit a free ebook that you have written to other websites with your website address and contact information included in the ebook.
10) Provide a free service to your niche market and submit ads to other websites.
11) Sell hard-to-find products at an attractive price.
12) Advertise on other websites, like Dollarsforever.com

These dozen ideas are only a handful of traffic attracting solutions for your website. Choose as many as you like. The end result should be more visitors to your website who are interested in what YOU have to offer.

Good luck and success!

Search Engine Optimization is not Enough

Tuesday, June 20th, 2006

OK. So you’ve created a nice website with lots of interesting products and information. Now all you need is visitors.

No problem.

This is what online marketers call “getting traffic”, and it definitely is
a problem. In fact, probably much more of a problem than you realized when you got into this online selling stuff. You probably figured it was just a matter of creating a nice site and waiting for people to discover it. Get listed in a few directories; “submit” your site to a bunch of search engines, and you’ll be on your way.

Unfortunately it doesn’t work that way.

Why it doesn’t work that way

The reason is pretty simple. Most new internet entrepreneurs have no idea how important the big search engines are — especially Google, MSN, and Yahoo. And they have no idea how these big search engines work. If they did, they would probably tear their beautiful websites apart and start over.

And guess what? That is exactly what most online entrepreneurs end up doing. If they are persistent enough, they eventually learn about the search engines, and they rebuild their sites the way they should have been built in the first place.

What they think they have learned

The reason they rebuild their sites is because they learn a little bit about something called “Search Engine Optimization” or “SEO”. The mysterious art of SEO starts from the premise that search engines analyze websites in terms of content and subject matter. Their automatic “spiders” look over your pages and use hints within those pages to determine what they are about. If they see lots of words about “golden retrievers” on a particular page, then they assume that page is about “golden retrievers”. These are known as “keywords” — the words that indicate what your content is about.

SEO takes this fairly obvious fact and says, “Since the search engines are going to draw conclusions about the subject matter of your pages based on keywords, then you should make sure they see the correct ones.” In fact, there are all kinds of little SEO techniques that try to exploit the way spiders draw conclusions about your pages.

Why this is not enough

Unfortunately, no matter how much SEO you do, it is still not enough to ensure you a high ranking in searches for your most important keywords.
Especially if you are chasing popular keywords like most of us are. For instance, it really doesn’t matter how much “optimization” you do for a keyword like “Real Estate”, since you will be competing for search engine results with literally millions of other pages which are also optimized for that term. Why should they choose your humble little page?

The fact is, they don’t choose yours. And the reason is pretty simple. Your page is just not important enough to rank a high position for a term like “Real Estate”. You have to do something to give it some importance.

Making your pages “important”

The most effective way to make your pages “important” in the eyes of the search engines, is to get other sites to link to yours. When the search engines see a link pointing from an outside site to a page on your site, they assume this means your page is important enough to be considered a resource worth looking at. The more links you have pointing at your page, the more important your page is considered and the higher it will rank when people search for the type of content your page is about.

It is also important to understand that not all links are considered equally valuable by the search engines. The most valuable links come from other important sites that share your area of interest. For instance, if yours is a Real Estate site, then the most valuable links are from other real estate sites that have already achieved some importance in the eyes of the search engines.

To put this all in “link strategy” terms:

The best way to enhance the importance of your web pages in the eyes of the search engines, is by getting as many links as possible from relevant sites that are considered authoritative in your area of interest.

Think Twice Before You Jump To A New Job

Think Twice Before You
Jump To A New Job
by
Ramon Greenwood

You’ve got the itch to change jobs. This might be a good time to make the move.

The Wall Street Journal has just reported, “Job-seekers from rank-and-file workers to senior executives are preparing their resumes for what may be the strongest fall hiring season in years.”

“Before you jump to a new job, be certain you have good, sound reasons for wanting to make a change,” advises Ramon Greenwood, senior career counselor at Common SenseAtWork.com> “You may believe you can accelerate your career with a new job. You may be bored or running away from personal problems.”

First, ask yourself, “Are there things I can do to make my present situation more acceptable?”

Don’t be lulled into believing that the grass will necessarily be greener in another pasture. Or that a new pasture will be a great deal different from the one you are grazing in now.

Except in the most extreme reasons, do not leave your present job until you have another one firmly in hand. If it was ever true that a bird in hand is worth two in the bush, it is when a job is concerned. Remember, it is always easier to get a job when you have one.

What Do You Want?

Take the time to figure out what you really want to do.

What will it take to make you happier? It is not enough to know what you want to change from; you need to know what you want to change to.

Be specific in answering these questions. Don’t allow yourself to be driven by a sense of vague malaise to make a change just for the sake of change. If you can’t spell out in writing the valid reasons you want to move to a new job and be equally specific about what you want that job to be, don’t set the process in motion.

Recognize that you are contemplating a serious and difficult undertaking, even under the best of circumstances. There is always some risk to your present situation when you start looking around. What will your present employer think if the word gets around that you are “looking”? At best, the whole process is usually disruptive and can be traumatic for you and your loved ones. Determine that you have the courage to live with the dangers and uncertainties of making a change.

Survey the situation. Be sure there is a market for the skills you have to offer where you want to live.

If You Go, Go Full Speed Ahead

If, after giving the matter careful thought, you are convinced you would be better off in a new situation, go for it full speed ahead. The search for a new job is not a time for half-measures. To vacillate between courting new employers and sitting back in a coy mode, hoping to be courted, will surely breed frustration. Mount a campaign and invest whatever time and energy are required to reach your objective.

If you have something to offer that the market wants, you will find a new job. However, it will take time. There may come a point when you decide that by comparison your present situation looks quite attractive. So you may decide to stay put, at least for the time being. So don’t burn bridges behind you.

And don’t worry about there being a stigma attached to changing jobs. A lot of other people are shopping for new jobs at any given time. It has been estimated that today’s college graduates can expect that on average they will have held eight different jobs by the time they are 40.

In fact, some personnel recruiters argue that your resume will be stronger if it shows some changes in jobs, so long as the reasons for changing are positive.

The Secret of Wealth

Tuesday, June 20th, 2006

“The way to wealth is as plain as the way to market — it depends on two words, industry and frugality; that is, waste neither time nor money, but make the best of both. Without industry and frugality nothing will do; with them everything.” — Franklin.

AS a man chooses his coat for its wearing qualities or for the moment’s passing whim, so does he choose his destiny. The responsibility and the result lie with the chooser. Each living person chooses–and each hour that passes fixes his choice deeper and deeper in his daily life.

Wealth is a state of mind or perhaps ‘twould be better to say that wealth is created through a state of mind. Few people get rich or acquire riches at a single stroke; most people who become rich grow rich, and the growth and development of a personal fortune is sometimes scarcely noted by the busy man or woman, who is thus almost unconsciously growing rich.

The acquiring of money and property, once begun, is a simple and easy process; growing rich comes through habits that are such fixed parts of one’s daily life that, once on the road to wealth, it would be quite difficult, if not wholly impossible, to stop the growth*.*

“If you live according to what nature requires, you mill never be poor; if according to the notions of men, you will never be rich. This is especially detrimental to us, that we live, not according to the light of reason, but after the fashion set by others.”

These thoughts from Lucius Annaeus Seneca, who was born in Rome before the year One. It is easy to see that the same things kept people poor in those days as in our own time and the principles of living well and happily and gradually acquiring wealth have not changed a whit since the year One.

There is no condition into which a man may come that is more to be feared by the individual and by society than the condition of poverty; it maddens a good man to crime and drives a madman to destruction. The condition of poverty is not a normal one and may quite easily be thrown off by any one who has health and the will of progress. It was Thucydides who said this about 425 B. C.:

“An avowal of poverty is no disgrace to any man; to make no effort to escape it is indeed disgraceful.”

Nearly 2,200 years later Oliver Goldsmith said:

“To be poor, and seem to be poor, is a certain way never to rise.”

So for more than 2,000 years, it has been understood that the person, who was poor and let it be known, and made little or no effort to rise above poverty, was largely responsible for his own unhappy condition.

Poverty and pauperism must not be confused; one who has, through misfortune, ill-health or a combination of circumstances, become a pauper may have left to him no avenue of escape. The pauper is to be pitied and to be helped.

The poor are those people who spend more than they get or at least spend all they get; Bruyere put it thus–”He is poor whose expenses exceed his income.” If such a condition should obtain long enough, that person would be a pauper; from poverty to pauperism is not a long step; it is only a short slide.

Wealth, ease, comfort and even contentment are within the reach of each one of us, though we all travel different roads toward our selected goals. The paths of some of us lie over mountains where, if we have the strength, we may leap from peak to peak of success, but the many of us, the great multitude, who travel the level plains, must approach success steadily rod by rod, mile by mile, day by day and year by year.

Avoid Problems Painting Aluminum and Vinyl Siding

Tuesday, June 20th, 2006

Anyone with older aluminum siding is well aware of the paint chalking problem. Just rub your hand along the old siding and the chalky old paint will be all over your palm. Trying to get paint to stick to this could be a real problem. This is due to oxidation of the paint. Siding manufacturers originally referred to this problem as a “benefit”. They called it, “self cleaning”, as the paint literally washed off the house.

Older vinyl siding is also a problem. UV light fades vinyl siding over time and the siding becomes very unsightly.

Many unfortunate homeowners and contractors have experienced the dismay, when they repainted their homes, only to find the new paint peeling off a few months later. Both problems with older aluminum and vinyl siding can be overcome with proper cleaning, surface preparation and re-painting.

Cleaning

You will need to rent a powerful pressure washer with at least 3000 psi. You will want a pressure washer powerful enough to remove most of the old chalky paint off the aluminum siding or, to remove any dirt buildup on the old vinyl siding.

Start at the top course of siding and work your way down. You will need to keep the pressure wand fairly close to the siding surface to effectively remove the old paint. In some areas, you may find that the paint comes off to the bare metal. Be careful near windows, corners, soffits and doorways. The water under pressure, can be forced behind these areas causing damage. You can add TSP or other cleaning solutions to the reservoir for mildew, algae or other grime built up. If you do use a cleaning solution, be sure to completely rinse it off with your pressure washer. You should allow your home to dry for several days in dry, sunny weather before proceeding to the painting process.

If you are repainting vinyl siding or vinyl coated aluminum siding, you may need a surface de-glosser. This is a solvent type product used to remove any shine on the surface and to help your first coat to adhere better. You will have no trouble finding a good de-glosser at your local paint supply store.

Application

I like a commercial type airless sprayer. It will draw the paint directly out of your 5 gallon paint pails, through the hose and into your spray gun. These are available to rent at many tool rental locations and even some paint supply stores that supply contractors. If your paint is real high quality latex, it will be thicker than regular latex paint and will require a more powerful airless sprayer.

Priming

This step is equally as critical as the step above. Actually, the cleaning and surface preparation phases will make or break the results of your project.

I like a latex paint additive called emulsa-bond for the first coat. Emulsa-bond is a bonding agent you will add to the first coat of paint or primer, to help it to bond to the old siding.

I buy the best grade exterior latex paint, rather than oil or other solvent based paint. Latex paint seems to keep up with the expansion and contraction of the siding very well. The high quality latex paint I buy needs no primer. I add the bonding agent directly into the first color coat. Check with your paint supplier whether or not to use a primer. The rule of thumb is, when in doubt, use a primer. If you use a primer, add the bonding agent into it before applying. There are also bonding agents available for oil or other solvent based paints. One type is called penetrol. These are usually available at a painting contractor supply store.

Many contractors will spot prime areas, especially where bare metal is exposed. I don’t like spot priming because it can lead to an uneven looking top coat. When I put a primer coat on, I prime the entire home. This gives a uniform surface finish later on.

Finish Coat

Your top coat will be color only. You should check with your paint manufacturer to see if you need one or two top coats after the base coat. Like I mentioned above, buy the highest quality exterior paint.

In Conclusion

Proper cleaning and surface preparation are the two main ingredients to a successful painting job. A bonding agent in the first coat is also very critical to avoid paint peeling off later on. Using these techniques, I’ve re-painted homes that have lasted far longer than the original factory applied finish.

Money Saving Tips

Tuesday, June 20th, 2006

People are always trying to save money, especially with today’s economy. No matter what your reason for saving, through this e-book, you will discover ways never considered.

The price of everything has gone up, requiring people to be more conscientious about money. The problem is that by the time the mortgage, car, utilities, and credit cards are paid, there is little money to put aside. Saving money is not that hard, just a matter of learning all the different options and being creative.

In addition to the obvious of putting money into a retirement fund or savings account, there are hundreds of ways to save money. Although some ways of saving may not seem like much, once you add them up at the end of the year, you will see how substantial the savings really are. Keep in mind that saving is more than a single lump sum of money put aside. Saving is something found in your everyday life by the way you live and the choices you make.

Rome was not built in a day and neither will your bank account be. Each penny saved is one more penny than before. If you have the ability to save big, that is great. However, most people are not in that position, which is why this e-book will show you how little savings can add up quickly.

Be encouraged that it is never too late to start saving, regardless of your age. Set your mind that now is the time to start building your future.

1. Holiday Gift Giving

This tip is especially helpful for large families. Although it is fun buying for and receiving from everyone, it can be very expensive. Make an agreement with your family that you will continue to buy for the children but that the adults will go with a name exchange. This way the children are not disappointed and you can spend a little more on one or two people rather than spreading your money thin. For the members that you did not pick to exchange with, bake a loaf of their favorite homemade bread or cookies.

2. Clearance

Always head straight for the clearance rack where you can find amazing bargains. Sometimes you may have to dig a little to find the right item but the savings will be well-worth your time. Most clearance racks offer variety, current trends, and great value. For example, Bed, Bath & Beyond has a clearance section where you can find all kinds of wonderful household items for a fraction of the original cost.

3. Thrift / Surplus Stores

Unfortunately, thrift and surplus stores have been given a bad rap. Many of these stores are filled with hundreds of top quality items. Name brand merchandise is easy to find but just like clearance racks, it takes some time to find. Find a thrift or surplus store close to where you live and then plan spending some time to find those outstanding bargains. One woman in Kansas City, Missouri located such a store about 20 minutes from her home. After shopping through every isle over the period of two hours, she walked out of the store with eight huge garbage bags filled to the brim with designer clothes for her and her children, many with the original tags still attached. She even found a couple of Liz Claiborne suits for herself at $5.99 each and a Dooney & Burke purse normally valued at $225 for $19.95. Her children had an entire season of school clothes and best of all, she paid less than $200.

4. Wrapping Paper and Bows

Create your own wrapping paper, which is not only unique, but also fun. Use plain brown grocery bags and craft-like paints to make your design. After wrapping the gift, let your creative juices flow. For example, using black and yellow craft paint, create a miniature road. Then dipping toy truck tires into red paint roll them along the paper making tire tracks. You can then draw free hand a stop sign, yield sign, or stop light. Next, using a hot glue gun, glue a couple of the miniature trucks to the paper. This is perfect for a young boy. He will be just as thrilled with the wrapping as the actual gift. For a girl, you can simply create miniature bows from existing fabric or lace and glue them on brown paper then free hand draw colorful flowers. Just use your creativity and look around for items you already have on hand to use.

5. Reuse

When you shop, look for items that can be reused. Rechargeable batteries are a perfect example. Even though the initial purchase may be more than non-rechargeable batteries, there is a definite savings over a long period. Another option would be to purchase a nice artificial Christmas tree. Many of the current artificial trees look amazingly real and with the right lights and ornaments, you can change the look from year to year.

eBay Tips

Tuesday, June 20th, 2006

For just a moment, try to comprehend the power of the Internet. Every day, there are millions of people from around the globe “surfing the web.”

People run their business from the Internet, search for love, research succulent recipes, plan vacations, and best of all – they SHOP! People that shop are always looking for a bargain, not just any bargain, but something spectacular.

The most popular public auction site, eBay, is where people gather to find anything from dishes to jewelry to houses and just about everything in between. Last year there was even a mother sold on eBay!

You can purchase amazing original artwork from China, have it signed by the artist, and shipped directly to your home. Perhaps you are trying to find 12 yards of Toile to reupholster your couch. You might even be looking for a new lawnmower or different power tools. The great news is that eBay has it all!

The other side of buying is the selling. Anyone can sell anything on eBay. Open an account, list your product, and wait for the bids to start coming in. There are secrets to being a power seller on eBay. While it is true that anyone can sell, to be successful, you need to know the inside secrets. One woman made over $250,000 last year on items sold on eBay. She is just one out of thousands and thousands of people that make a ton of money just selling merchandise.

Are you ready to learn how to be an eBay seller? You will find it to be easy, fun, and exciting.

1. Collectibles

Hot sellers on eBay are collectibles such as coins, stamps, or dolls. You can check out the collectibles category to get a better idea of what people love to buy. Anything that will move up in value would fall in this category.

2. Consumables

This popular category would include anything that people use and then would need to buy again such as lotions, perfumes, camera film, candles, etc.

3. Information Products

In this category, you would sell anything that can be sent on a CD or floppy disc or downloaded from the Internet. This is another popular category.

4. Start at Home

When you first get started, it can be a little unnerving. The best option is to start by looking around your own home. Think of items that you would sell in a garage sale. However, instead of pricing each item and lugging it outside hoping for a nice sunny day, you can advertise them on the Internet.

5. Just eBay

Although there are several other quality auction websites, eBay is by far the most popular and most successful. Although you could start using all the other sites, by spreading yourself out too thin you take the risk of getting things mixed up. In reality, it is better to use eBay and focus your attention and efforts on this one site. You will not be disappointed.

6. Look Around

Navigate through each section to familiarize yourself with all the different pages. You will find a site map and help tab, which are very useful tools. It will take a little time to get used to the site but start by looking. As you start selling, navigating will become much easier.

7. Quick Response

When you have an item listed on eBay and a potential buyer contacts you with a question, respond quickly. It is important and actually critical to your success to check your account several times a day. Answering a question could be the difference between you getting the sale or the buyer going elsewhere.

8. Trustworthiness

It is extremely important that you handle your account with integrity. The number of positive comments and amount of stars earned are what will be the deciding factor for many buyers. Be professional, polite, and stand by what you sell.

9. Accuracy

When you list your item(s) on eBay, write an accurate description. You do not have to write long paragraphs of rambling information but provide exact measurements, colors, condition, etc. Be extremely precise when it comes to your description.

10. Buyer Contact

Once your item(s) have sold, be responsive to the buyer. Contact them in a quick manner, thank them for their purchase, and provide the required information for payment.

Child Custody Evaluation

Tuesday, June 20th, 2006

A child custody evaluation can be ordered by a court if you are involved in a custody dispute with your spouse. The custody evaluation can be required in an initial custody case or in a subsequent case if one of the parents requests that the issue of custody be modified. If you are seeking primary custody of your child, you’ll want to know the guidelines for the child custody evaluation that you will have to undergo. To some extent, these guidelines vary from state to state, so you will need to discuss the child custody evalutaion process with your attorney or your state family court.

In general, a child custody evaluation involves a series of meetings between the parents and children and a professional who will assess the custody issue. Sometimes that professional is a psychologist. Sometimes it is a professional with an Masters and sometimes a Doctorate degree. In some states the professional simply investigates and reports the details of the investigation to the court. In other states, the professional doing the child custody evaluation actually gives the court a recommendation as to how custody should be determined.

The manner in which a child custody evaluation is used by a court can also vary from state to state. In some states, the judges put a higher priority on the wishes of the children and that issue is addressed in the custody evaluation. In some of those states, the child’s wishes are considered if the child has attained a certain age. InIllinois, the child’s wishes is a key factor. In other states, it is only one factor or not a factor at all. In Alabama, a chid’s desire is not considered as a reliable factor in determininig custody, so the factors to be given priority over the child’s wishes in the child custody evaluation are more focused on the well being an safety of the child.

A child custody evaluation can involve an investigation into moral habits and issues such as alcohol or drug use, church affiliation and family support system. Other issues that can and often are reviewed in a custody evaluation include factors that are unrelated to moral habits, but which are more focused on the determining which parent can satisfy the child’s needs, include the ability to provide an appropriate home, school support, and so forth.

A child custody evaluation can take months to conclude. The investigation aspects can include a review of any existing counseling records for the family, either or both parents, or the children, any mental health records for any of those parties, any criminal records, school records for the children, and one or more interviews with each parent and child and any other individual that the court deems appropriate. For example, if a companion or significant other is living with a parent, that person could have an impact on the day to day lives of the children. The court may want that person included in the child custody evaluation. Some of the evaluation interviews are conducted individually, and some are conducted with parent and children together. That format is dictated by the professional conducting the custody evaluation.

If you are involved in a custody dispute and you will be involved in a child custody evaluation, speak with your attorney about the process that you and your children will be subjected to. Be prepared and open and provide all of the information that is requested of you. Most of all, find out what you are able to say to the children to prepare them for the interviews that they will have to attend.

When another person succeeds in using your credit information to commit credit fraud, it can cause a lot of hassle in your life. So how do you protect yourself.

Here are a few tips on how to avoid becoming the victim of this type of crime.

Periodically review your credit reports. Order your credit report from each of them at least once a year.

Properly discard documents. Cut up, shred or otherwise destroy credit card statements, credit card receipts, bank statements, preapproved credit offers or any other documents that contain personal information.

Limit identification pieces. Carry only essential identification pieces in your purse or wallet, backpack or car. Do not carry your Social Security card or your birth certificate with you unless absolutely necessary.

Limit the number of credit cards you carry. Try to only carry one or two.

Memorize your PIN and password numbers. Do not write them down.

Make and keep copies of credit account and bank account numbers in a secure place.

Guard your personal information. Don’t give out credit card or Social Security numbers to people you don’t know.

Do not have your Social Security number printed on your checks or driver’s license.

The History of Teddy Bears

Tuesday, June 20th, 2006

Teddy bears have been around since 1902. The teddy bear came to being when President Theodore Roosevelt refused to shot a black bear held captive by his hunting party. Also worth noting is that President Roosevelt’s refusal to shoot this captive bear became a very popular political cartoon by Cliff Barryman.

A Brooklyn shopkeeper was inspired by the cartoon. The shopkeeper then asked President Rosevelt his permission to name a toy bear “Teddy”. Thus became the creation of the teddy bear.

It is also worth noting that the teddy bear was born in Germany between 1902 and 1903.

The first teddy bears did not have cuddly faces or smiles, in fact, the first teddy bears had expressions which could best be described as stoic. Teddy bears were also quite stiff, the bendable arms and legs and soft, plush bodies came much later.

Now teddy bears are still the number one item to give babies as their first toy, the prize to win your girl on your first date, and most importantly, the toy of choice for law enforcement to give to children in sad, unsafe situations to help them calm down and feel safe.

The market for collectible teddy bears has seen significant growth in the last several years. A collectible teddy bear is very different than the typical store bought teddy that you might give a child. The industry defines collectible teddy bears as hard, not floppy, and fully jointed (meaning arms, legs, and head are moveable). The artists however, also determine collectibles. Steiff teddy bears and others have a very high collectible value.

The 3 Types Of Roses

Tuesday, June 20th, 2006

There are several rose classification schemes used throughout the world. But the most popular system is that proposed by The American Rose Society (in cooperation with the World Federation of Roses). While the other systems are still in use, the majority of internationally established societies have adopted this one.

According to the American Rose Society, there are 3 main groupings of roses: the Species, Old Garden Roses, and Modern Roses.

Species Roses

This is the ancestor of every rose and are commonly referred to as “wild roses.” They are easy to identify. Usually they have 5 petals, bloom once a season, and are often thorny shrubs or climbers.

Several popular Species Roses are: Cherokee Roses, Dog Roses, Gallic Roses, French Roses, and Redleaf Roses.

Species Roses flourish in temperate climates, and can be found throughout the Northern Hemisphere.

Old Garden Roses

Unlike Species Roses, which existed millions of years before humans walked the earth, Old Garden Roses are a class identified as of 1867.

Most Old Garden Roses bloom once a season, usually at the start of summer. They grow in several shrub and vine sizes. Although colors can vary, this class are usually white or pastel in color. These “antique roses” are generally preferred for lawns and home gardening because they are easy to grow.

Some Old Garden Roses are: China, Tea, Moss, Damask, Bourbon, Hybrid Perpetual and Noisette roses. Many antique roses have a strong, sweet scent, which makes them very popular.

Modern Roses

Old Garden Roses are the predecessors of Modern Roses. Any rose identified after 1867, is considered a Modern Rose. Very popular, This group is the result of crossbreeding the hybrid tea with the polyanthus (a variety of primrose).

The colors of Modern Roses are varied, rich and vibrant. Most roses in this class will flower repeatedly with the proper care. Perhaps that is why horticulturists find this class so attractive.

The most popular roses found in the class of Modern Roses are: the hybrid tea, floribunda, and grandiflora. Although Modern Roses are adored by florists and gardeners, they do require a little extra care, and do not adapt well to colder environments.

Further Classification

After a rose has been classified into 1 of the 3 main groupings, it can be further classified by color, scent, ancestry, date of introduction, growth habit, blooming characteristics and size. It is not always possible for horticulturists to classify every rose, especially the hybrid roses which can seem to be a grouping all their own.

But after a point, it is time to quit classifying and start growing. I think we have reached that point.
