7 Required Steps to Mega AdSense Profits

Tuesday, June 20th, 2006

The Google AdSense program is like finding money in the street.

Kids in High School are making thousands of dollars a month with Adsense… Housewives, Retiree’s,
Mom and Pop’s who’ve never made a dime on the Internet have created full time incomes by simply
placing AdSense Ads on their web site or blog.

Then you have the “Super AdSense” earners. We have all heard of them… the Elite few who are on
track to make half a million dollars a year or more promoting AdSense sites. Do not be mistaken though…
these people are not building like your Mom and Pop’s do. They have systems in place that create sites
for them… people who build sites for them… they have outsourced much of the tedious tasks such as
posting to blogs and searching for keywords.

While most people cannot emulate everything these Super AdSense earners do… many of them you can.

Here are 7 Required Steps you can implement today to copy their success.

1) Starting today… treat your AdSense business like it is a REAL business and track what you do.

Begin tracking what you are doing that works… as well as what you are doing that does not work. This
will keep you from making the same mistakes over and over, and you can repeat the steps that have
worked in the past. As simple as this step seems… most people do not know the reason(s) to their
success or failure.

2) Utilize the latest tools and software available.

The Super AdSense earners are not any smarter than your average person. I know many people think
they are… but for the most part, they are regular non techie people. They are smarter in one respect
though… they use the latest tools available to them to automate most of the tasks involved with
researching and creating sites. They use the latest keyword, site creation and search engine
optimization tools available. The tools they use are their secret weapons.

3) Quit chasing the Mega Dollar keywords.

You cannot compete with the search engine experts who create sites for the $80 payout keywords.
You may get lucky for awhile… but in the long run, you are better off building sites for the low to mid
range payout keywords. The competition is less and your chance of success is much higher over
the long term.

4) Choose broad niches and break it down.

Choose a broad subject as your main theme (lets use computers for an example). From there…
break it down into as many sub niches as possible. Using Computers as the example… you
could build sub niches/sites like laptop computers, computer hard drives, computer keyboards,
etc, etc. You could literally build hundreds of sites around one major theme and stay totally
focused. Once you have exhausted every possible sub niche of that major theme… choose
another main theme and repeat the process.

5) KISS

Keep your sites easy to navigate and forget the fancy graphics that distract your visitors
attention. Unless you are just building AdSense sites for the fun of it and to impress your
friends… the purpose of having the site is to have people click on one of the ads, right?
Then keep the site layout simple… dump the scrolling banners, dancing chickens and
colored scroll bars… they are distractions.

6) What is the purpose of your web site?

Your web site cannot be everything to everybody. If you have a full fledged ecommerce site,
with products for sale… links to other products, it is not a good site for AdSense. If the
primary focus of the site is to sell products… let it do that. Do not distract or confuse your
visitor with to many options or choices. The best AdSense sites are AdSense only content sites
that sell nothing. They are sites that “Tell”… not “Sell.”

7) Be consistent.

This is not one of those deals where you build one site and you are done. Refer back
to Step #4. You must continuously build in order to be successful. Think of it as planting
a crop that you will harvest in a month or two, and the sites you build are seeds. Once the
seeds have grown and matured… you will reap the harvest. The more seeds you plant…
the larger the harvest.

To sum it up… utilize the tools available to automate as much of the process of building
sites – doing research and building keyword lists as you can. This alone will help keep you
organized and on track. Be consistent in building… treat it like the business it is and you will
reap the rewards of your harvest.

Wise words on website content

Tuesday, June 20th, 2006

Websites come and websites go; it’s a fact. It’s also a fact that websites which have exceptional website content don’t go very often. In order to win and retain business you need to be able to attract, keep and excite people’s attention but for many that isn’t always an achievable target. However without website content that can do this and do it quickly you are losing visitors and potential customers to your competition so if you can’t create the website content that will achieve this and more you should consider getting someone who can.

Website content for visitors.

In bygone times keyword cramming your website content was the order of the day; it got you ranked high on search engines affording you plenty of hits to your website but in due course people realised that the visitors they were winning weren’t actually taking advantage of the offers on site or clicking the affiliate links. Search engines also cottoned on pretty quickly to the art of keyword cramming and eventually devised a cunning plot that penalises you for the excessive use of keywords within your website content. This article uses a keyword density of just over 6% for the keywords `website content’ and that is just about right. You need to get the balance just right; not making readers obviously aware of the over existence of the term website content but including it often enough that it will get you brownie points with search engines.

Website content for search engines.

Search engines don’t employ millions of people to trawl through the millions of websites and then judge how good the content is, instead they use robots or spiders that will crawl your website and measure the use of your keywords in order to ascertain the relevancy and usefulness of your website content. If they find it has too high a percentage they judge you to be a keyword crammer and you will be penalised. If it’s too low they determine (rightly or wrongly) that your website content isn’t relevant to potential visitors. Again you get penalised. You have to get the balance just right.

Website content that sells your product.

Your website visitors are your potential customers and they should be treated as such, but the average online shopper is very different in temperament to the high street shopper. They want to see useful content surrounding your products and they want to see it on a relevant topic. The latest and most common way to do this is through the use of a number of articles; these articles serve a couple of very useful purposes that we will discuss in a minute.

You should use website content that informs, excites and compels people to purchase your product and it should do so quickly. The average website visitor will give you 3 or 4 seconds before they decide whether to read on. If you can hook them within those few seconds then they become very strong leads; you know they are interested in what you have to say. That gives you the first sentence, possibly two to get your message across.

Don’t forget that it can take up to four times as long to read off a computer screen as it can on paper so your website content should be restricted to a minimum of 300 words on a informative page to 1000 words on a page. Any less and you may struggle giving them anything useful but more than this and they’ll stop reading. The optimum word count is between 500 and 700 words.

Articles that give value to your website content.

Used well a number of article pages on your site will serve as keyword specific website content pages and also to give your visitors even more information. If you have 50 keywords you want to use you could use 1 article for each keyword. This article would then act as a separate page of website content that will rank on the search engines for that one keyword. Each well written article that your visitors read will move them one step closer to purchasing your product so use them well.

A final word on website content.

The final thing to remember about website content is that it HAS to be unique. Copied or plagiarised website content will see you heavily penalised by the search engines and where a few dollars may have got you high up in the rankings with very well written website content, using stale copied website content will see you plummet to the bottom end of the search results.

Green Tea and Cholesterol facts

Tuesday, June 20th, 2006

A green and lush oasis in the middle of a scorching dessert. A cool breeze on a hot summer night. A bright light in the end of a cold and dark tunnel. Green tea and cholesterol.

For the millions and millions of people suffering from high cholesterol green tea may be that light. You can browse and search the Internet for topics on green tea and cholesterol and would come up with hundred of hits.

Cholesterol, triglycerides, the protein apoB in LDLs, are words dreaded by humans of the modern age. This new century is expected to become the century of medical miracles, the green tea, lowly as it may sound looks very promising as several researches have shown. This could be the decade of green tea and cholesterol.

More good news is it’s not just green tea and cholesterol; it’s also green tea and cancer. Several studies have shown that the antioxidants are present in green tea. The Journal of the National Cancer Institute published the results of an epidemiological study indicating that drinking green tea reduced the risk of esophageal cancer in Chinese men and women by nearly sixty percent. Another research done by the University of Purdue researchers recently concluded that a compound in green tea inhibits the growth of cancer cells. In another study by the University of Kansas determined that EGCG may explain why the rate of heart disease among Japanese men is quite low, even though approximately seventy-five percent are smokers.

And more good news! It’s not just green tea and cholesterol; it’s also green tea and high blood pressure. Habitually drinking 5 to 10 cups a day of green tea lowers high blood pressure.

For more that 4,000 years the Chinese have known about the medicinal benefits of green tea since using it to treat everything from headaches to depression. So it’s not just green tea and cholesterol; it’s also green tea and depression!

Drinking green also is reported to be helpful with rheumatoid arthritis, Cardiovascular disease, infection, and impaired immune function.

Green tea is rich in catechin polyphenols, especially epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). EGCG is a good anti-cancer element. Polyphenol limits the negative effects of smoking and a fatty diet.

There’s more! It’s not just green tea and cholesterol; it’s also green tea and weight loss. The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition published a report that found out that men who were given a combination of caffeine and green tea extract burned more calories than those given only caffeine.

How about green tea and tooth decay anyone? Its bacteria-destroying abilities kill the bacteria that cause dental decay. So it’s not just green tea and cholesterol, it’s also green tea and bacteria.

Why is it that it’s green tea and cholesterol not oolong tea or black tea? As we all know there are 3 types of tea, green, oolong and black. All of these come from the leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant. But why green? Green tea leaves are steamed, which prevents the EGCG compound from being oxidized while black and oolong tea leaves are made from dried or fermented leaves, which causes loss of EGCG.

We should have learned speaking mandarin or fukien a long time ago and got to know green tea and cholesterol lowering the Chinese way.

There is more to green tea and cholesterol, search the web and get to know more of the heath benefits you may get from green tea. Does anyone know how to say green tea in Chinese?

The Beauty of working At Home

Tuesday, June 20th, 2006

Working at Home is growing at a phenomenal pace around the world. The beauty of it is that your time is your
own and you can dig in anytime you want. Even Large multinationals are now seeing the benefits of employing
people in the home workplace.

Because of the vast improvement of communications in the last 10-15 years, the
home is now becoming its own office or company in its own right. All of the machines and instruments that
were once only located in the work office can now be located and used just as efficiently in the home office.
Powerful computers, fax machines and internet connections can now be easily installed in the home.

Discipline and honesty are huge traits that have to be addressed when working from home. Procrastinating your
work is not a problem as long as the work gets completed. When working from home, the important matter is
not when the work is done, it is that the actual work is being done.

Many entrepreneurs that work from home will tell you that if they have missed work by running some errands
during the day, they will complete the work later on that evening or they will do extra the following day. Until
you reach a point in your life where you can pick and choose when and where you work, discipline is the
foundation on which your work at home business will thrive.

If you have a full time job and are insecure about trying a work at home job, I would first suggest doing it
part time. By doing it part time you will start to understand if this life is for you or not.

There is definitely people (of which I am not) that love the great out-doors
and want to be constantly out of the house 9-5 Monday to Friday. No matter how good an opportunity came along, these people still would not like to do it. On the
other hand I believe there is the majority crying out for change. These are the people that would love to try
something new if it only would increase the quality of their lives.

These people are the new leaders in internet and network marketing. These people are the people that
provide the real determination to succeed in their home based businesses. By reading this article, if you
think you are one of these people, then you are in the right place. Give your home based business a try, you have nothing to lose only a regret that you didn’t start it sooner!

Taking Control of Your Cellulite

Tuesday, June 20th, 2006

Cellulite happens to us for many reasons. Some reasons– like genetics or hormones — you can do very little about. But cellulite is also related to a number of other factors that you CAN work with and improve.

Cellulite affects 90% of women and a much smaller percentage of men. The condition is such a complex one that no real cure is considered to be available. Some products, therapies and procedures do claim to be cures but the jury is still very much out on the subject of getting rid of cellulite.

The unsightly symptoms are found on the soft, fleshy parts of women’s thighs, buttocks, stomachs and upper arms. Though it is often associated with sedentary people, who are also overweight, the condition can make itself at home on the fit thighs and buttocks of marathon runners.

Opinions vary as to the exact causes of cellulite but most agree that something happens in the tissues to slow down and handicap the ordinary processes of lymph and blood circulation in the capillaries of the subcutaneous tissue. Some experts believe that excess fat will make the fat cells in the mesoderm swell, placing a strain on the surrounding connective tissue and resulting in a compromised microcirculation. Others believe that the situation is created by a genetic disposition coupled with hormonal imbalances.

The tissue responds to its embattled circumstances by forming extended tissue strands called septae that restrict the fat cells and cause the rippled, lumpy skin surface indicative of cellulite. The resulting sluggish and damaged microcirculation allows lymph fluid to leak into the surrounding tissue while hampering the transport of nutrients.

With this deeper understanding of exactly what is happening beneath the skin of the affected areas we can make informed decisions on what to do to alleviate the symptoms and revive the skin.

Here are some important aspects of a comprehensive cellulite reduction program:

Losing the Excess

Any plan to alleviate the symptoms of cellulite must include a healthy weight loss program for those carrying more than their healthy body weight. Excess weight causes fat cells to swell contributing to the tissue strain that results in the orange peel effect.

A diet rich in fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as a good eight glasses of water a day to flush toxins, will begin the restorative process of proper nutrition at the point of origin. Making sure that your diet includes plenty of all the necessary vitamins especially B for stress, as well as C, bioflavonoids and minerals is a good way to begin the recovery process.

Eating Right

Vigorous exercise is an absolute necessity. It will help to stimulate sluggish circulation throughout the body as well as targeting the troubled areas. Regular exercise, at least three times a week for 40 minutes or more, will have far reaching effects on many of the body’s systems, firing up metabolism and getting the lymph and blood flowing.

Laying on Hands and Lotion

Milder cases of cellulite can be ministered to by means of a good massage regime using one or other of the reputable creams and lotions on the market. Many creams contain natural botanical ingredients that are tissue decongestants as well as stimulants for the microcirculation.

Consider having a few deep tissue massages from experts and learn some tips. Go home and practice on yourself. The more attention the problem areas receive the more dynamic and alive the tissues will become. Circulation will improve and toxins can be convinced to evacuate.

Consulting the Real Experts

Serious cases of cellulite may benefit from the advice of real experts. You will have to employ serious discernment when figuring out whom to turn to. The Internet offers you unprecedented opportunities to check and recheck claims. Procedures can be thoroughly researched before deciding which program to go for. Be skeptical. In this day and age it is the reasonable response to the plethora of false promises that threaten to take advantage of the vulnerable.

Selecting the Correct Hitch for Your Vehicle

Tuesday, June 20th, 2006

If you are towing a trailer for the first time you will want to have everything going for you. Changing from a single vehicle to what is essentially double that, is not a step to be taken casually. The hitch you use to link your tow vehicle to your trailer is a key element in your safety and the safety of other motorists on the road.

A great deal hinges on the choice of hitch in the world of towing. There are a number of factors that you need to take into consideration when making the decision. Before doing anything else, you will need to consult your vehicle owner’s manual. This comprehensive source of information will give you valuable information regarding the towing specifications of your vehicle.

You will want to stay well within the parameters outlined in the manual, being ever cautious not to place the rig under more pressure than it can safely handle. Remember that what you can tow under ideal towing conditions and what you can tow under challenging conditions are two completely different things.

The tow combination that you put together needs to have capacity to spare in order to handle these challenges when they arise. Both the tow vehicle and the hitching system have weight capacities that impact the safety of the whole rig.

Once you have determined the tow vehicle’s maximum towing capacity you will be able to choose the trailer and hitch that is the best fit. Tow hitches come in varying classes to match the weight capacities of the vehicle and the gross trailer weight, known as the GTW.

Trailer hitches are specific to each vehicle so you need to find the exact hitch for your vehicle model and year. Most online websites will have you key in these details before coming up with the hitch for your vehicle.

The most common hitches are receivers. They are the ones that you see on most SUVs, trucks, vans and RVs. They come in Classes specific to their weight carrying capacity. Class I hitches have a GTW of anything up to 2,000lbs. They are the best option for light duty tow vehicles and commonly allow for the towing of smaller loads like bike racks and utility trailers.

Class II hitches, with a GTW of 3,500lbs, are commonly used on passenger vans and the less powerful SUVs. Class II hitches are capable of towing smaller, lighter travel trailers safely. Some class II hitches can have their tow capacities expanded in combination with a good weight distribution system. Details on this option should be available in your vehicle owner’s manual.

Class III hitches have a more generous tow capacity of up to 5,000lbs. They are the most common hitch for the more powerful SUVs and trucks and allow for heavier duty towing and a broader range of weight distribution systems that balance out the trailer load between the wheels of the tow vehicle and those of the trailer. The addition of this kind of hitch system offers enhanced safety in the form of improved steering and brake control.

Once you have selected the correct hitch for your vehicle and trailer and you have had it shipped to your door you will be faced with a mysterious bundle of odds and ends that bolts onto your vehicle frame without welding. Installation times vary from 30 minutes to an hour so don’t rush. If you have doubts about the finished product of your work you might want to invest in a second opinion from a professional before heading out onto the highway.

Hitch Receiver Covers: That Personal Touch

Tuesday, June 20th, 2006

Some people think that tow hitch receivers are there to receive the hitch for towing. To them, the receiver without the hitch is a vacant space preferably with an unassuming cover over it to keep out dust and dirt. Other people see the gap as an opportunity for creative expression.

Now, the dark horse of towing is hardly likely to express himself on a tow hitch cover. This man is a mystery, and the black rubber plug protecting his receiver is an enigmatic reflection of that. What do you know about a man with a black rubber tow hitch cover? Nothing. And he likes it that way. This man keeps to himself at tailgaters. It is hard to tell which team he supports, if he does, in fact, support any.

This man will not be invited to join the festive bunch of team supporters good naturedly fighting over whose collegiate hitch receiver cover is the triumphant one. Now, collegiate hitch covers, at around $20 each, offer more variety than you would ordinarily imagine. There are the classic team names on plain black enamel backing for the college team supporter who likes clean lines and will one day live in a sparsely furnished loft in a sophisticated urban environment.

Then there are the college logos in raised three-dimensional designs that portray the team animal in an intense splash of color against a heavy metal or pewter background. Tailgaters with these logos are unabashedly competitive. They thrive on it. They search for receiver covers that are as provocative as possible and guaranteed to lure the ill-fated competition out of its lair.

Tailgaters with military hitch receiver covers form an orderly group on the far side of the parking lot, well away from the college rabble-rousers. These vehicle owners are comfortable around authority, precision and order in any form. Their receiver hitch covers portray their air force, marines, army or navy loyalties without beating around the bush.

They’re straightforward, dependable types who like hitch covers that are constructed out of durable materials symbolizing the qualities central to their beliefs. Military hitch covers are designed for maximum strength and usability out of non-corrosive metal alloys with a weather hardened enamel colorfill. They are well made and serious and have little in common with a neighboring group of tailgaters.

This group is comprised of strong individualists that believe that their tow hitch covers should reflect their convictions as well as attract attention. Their hitch covers are all completely different. Some portray chrome eagles in flight, others sinister skulls with eyes that light up. There are mythical creatures like dragons, cobras and emblems like the solid Maltese cross.

Another group of tailgaters take rugged individualism a step further. They never buy anything from the regular outlets. Their hand crafted tow hitches have ‘custom’ written all over them in invisible letters. Typically they are happy to pay more for the privilege of being truly unique. Some hitch covers bear photographs of loved ones, company logos or favorite phrases in personalized lettering, colors and designs. Others are molded out of superior quality chrome and shaped into graceful animals caught in motion. There is the image of the delightful, askew outhouse with tethered horse dressing up a receiver hitch as well as an elegant sailboat in full sail, and bull riders, cowboy hats and numerous others.

Hitch receiver covers attract attention so it’s worth the extra money to buy the locking device that stops them from wandering. As fashion statements go they don’t cost as much as other attention getting methods. Most quality covers made of aluminum, cast iron or metal alloy are available for anything from $20 to $30 with the truly classy ones out of almost indestructible steel coming in at just under $50.

Pros and Cons of Buying Pet Medicine Online

Tuesday, June 20th, 2006

Pets are many things in many ways but they are not responsible. Not outside of very limited doggy parameters. This means that you are 100% responsible for your pet’s health. In this day of seemingly limitless online medication options, the only way to face this challenge is through education. Freedom of choice is only a benefit when you are familiar with the choices.

The easy availability of medications online has placed extra pressure on society to moderate its own behavior responsibly. It has placed even more pressure on human beings using the Internet to shop for pets that are entirely reliant on them for their wellbeing.

Buying pet medicine online offers a level of consumer freedom that is enough to make one dizzy. In the old days we would take our pet to our local veterinarian who would counsel us on the right way to deal with our pet’s health issues. This was a relief in two obvious ways: we could be guided by an expert and we could shift a little of the weight of responsibility. Today it is possible to go online, diagnose and medicate our own pet.

This is a boon on the one hand, and a very serious danger on the other. With the aid of the Internet we are empowered to act somewhat independently of traditional channels. This is a qualified bonus only if we are almost uncomfortably aware of the fact that we do not have years of veterinary experience behind us. This awareness should hopefully make us doubly cautious as we navigate these unfamiliar waters with our newfound freedom.

The bonus is a qualified one because it should not take the place of veterinary expertise when that is appropriate. The question of how to discern when that is appropriate is the million-dollar question. Websites play experts and they do so with expertise but it is not necessarily the expertise we need.

A favorite tactic is to dot the website with white clad ‘experts’ who profess to a proficiency they don’t have. It is important to note that the figures are often just models paid to pose with an air of authority. We need something more than a show of proficiency when it comes to the lives of our precious pets.

The bottom line is this; nothing can take the place of a visit to the veterinarian when your pet is sick. Attempting to diagnose your pet’s ailment yourself can have devastating consequences. When time is of the essence, wasting it waiting for cost effective, online drugs to be shipped to your door is not only unwise but inhumane.

Buying pet medicine online has a limited application. Within these boundaries it can be both benign and cost effective. This avenue works best with repeat medications like flea, tick, worming and heart medications. If you are considering taking advantage of the online option let your vet know. He or she will have to write out a prescription for you to use when purchasing online. Many services also offer to call the vet directly. Your delivery date will be reliant on prompt communication between the online company and the veterinarian’s office working together to share information.

Purchasing non-prescription drugs for your pet online is also a matter for caution and consideration. Because certain drugs do not require a prescription does not mean that they are not potentially dangerous if administered unwisely. Read instructions carefully. Good websites take their role as educator seriously. Most have extensive information online regarding dosages and side effects.

Avoid or be cautious regarding prices that are way below market on pet medications. Most legitimate companies hover in the same discount region. Outrageous savings are normally only offered by fly by night companies offering questionable product.

Understanding Your Pet’s Chewing Issues

Tuesday, June 20th, 2006

f you are beginning to feel like an endangered species surrounded by the chewed up remnants of your previous existence, fear not. First of all you are not alone. There are dog owners like you suffering the same fate and having the same problems getting their otherwise delightful pet to cease and desist from devouring hearth and home. Not only that, but people, experienced dog owner type people, have spent a great deal of time and energy on solving the problem.

Your first step in the direction of rehabilitation is the same as it is with any such process. You need to establish the exact nature of the problem. If your pet is a newly acquired puppy then rampant chewing goes with the territory. It is a natural response to teething. If your pet is past puppy-hood and showing no sign of quitting or, if your mature pet inexplicably begins chewing away at stuff, this is a sign of a more serious problem that needs attention.

Pets of all kinds can be divided into aggressive chewers and non-aggressive chewers. Aggressive chewers annihilate what they chew and sometimes swallow the pieces – often in one sitting. Non-aggressive chewers gnaw, play and mouth toys without actually breaking them. Many theories attempt to pinpoint certain dog breeds as most likely to chew aggressively but, the fact is, it’s more personality related than it is breed related.

If your dearly beloved pet is still a puppy you will need to work out which category of chewer he or she is as this is an important fact to take into consideration when shopping from the broad range of dog toys available. If your dog is an aggressive chewer you will need to buy dog toys that are chewy and rubbery as well as super strong and durable. Because aggressive chewers are inclined to bite and then swallow toys that are brittle, they must be literally unbreakable. Some manufacturers actually sell toys with an impressive 100% product replacement if the animal manages to destroy it. Aggressive chewers need their own type of toy made of tough rubber and rawhide. They need to be kept well clear of toys that lesser chewers would be safe with.

Black Kongs are ideal for these enthusiastic chewers, so are toys like the jumbo retriever rolls otherwise known as ‘chronic chew toys’. These are wound out of several feet of rawhide compacted into one giant roll. Even the most vociferous of chewing pets can do no better than wear away at the exterior leaving the tightly wound core still intact. Pressed rawhide bone-shaped toys are also good options for the aggressive chewer who must be protected from his or her own capacity to reduce an innocent toy to sharp, dangerous shards that may injure the pet’s esophagus when swallowed.

If your mature pet is chewing and she is past teething and puppy-hood then there is a possibility that the chewing may be the symptom of a displaced anxiety. Here’s where you will need to play dog psychologist and spend time with your pet to discern what is troubling him or her. Are you spending enough time with your pet? Does he get enough attention? Exercise? Has there been a recent disturbance in the household routine that the pet may be responding to?

Your pet is a barometer for any stress or disruption in the environment. Taking up chewing becomes a comforting action for the disturbed dog. You will need to spend more supervised time with your pet reeducating him or her on the rewarding consequences of desirable behavior. Pets are very much like children in this way; they will do anything to get attention even if it means demolishing the surrounding environment. Don’t be slow to enlist the aid of an expert when tackling chronic chewing problems. A fresh and educated viewpoint may save everyone a great deal of frustration.

Researching For Niche Markets

Tuesday, June 20th, 2006

When it comes to researching for niche markets, many people are confused and are never quite sure if they have found a niche that is open to additional competition and still has considerable demand, or if the niche is closed off to new entry. The answer is there is almost always demand in niche markets, and if you feel the demand is being met then there is demand for additional niches within a niche market. When researching niche markets and trying to decide what would be most profitable, you should first look at what you enjoy and would be best at doing day in and day out.

The reason it is important to analyze your desires and strengths is because you want your home based business to work and be profitable, and if you do not enjoy it you will not be able to give it the attention it needs to grow, regardless of the demand within the niche. So, evaluate what you like, your skills, what services or products you can provide, and then begin figuring out the niche for your particular skills and products. If you don’t feel there is a high demand, or the market is already saturated, then consider altering your product or service a bit so there is a niche market for it. All you really need is a little creativity.

Also, you will need to consider your competition. Research the Internet for other competitors and what they offer and how they offer it. Find a way to offer something more for less, or offer specialized products and/or services so they are not exactly like competitors. All of these actions will differentiate you from the rest.

Once you have decided on your niche market, or on several, you will want to come up with several hundred popular keywords that describe this niche market or that people might use when searching on Google and the like. Then, run these keywords through a program that will tell you their relevancy and how often they are searched for. If you have several niche markets in mind, you will want to go with the one that is searched for the most because this one has the most demand. If you have only one in mind, make sure the number of people searching for your product or service will make it worthwhile for you to engage in it.

However, don’t look for niches that are completely wide open because this is virtually unlikely. Conversely, there are many niche markets that are under filled and could handle additional competition.

Once you have entered a niche market, always provide consistent and professional service, maintain your web page and products, change your marketing tools or products if necessary to react to new competition, and always be on the lookout. As long as you are proactive you will be an aggressive competitor.

5 Ingredients of a postcard

Tuesday, June 20th, 2006

One of the most useful tools to market to motivated sellers is postcards. You can effectively market to out-of-town owners with this technique because they can keep the postcard for months. However, most investors are still confused about what to put on the card. Among other things, remember this: the basic goal is to get the right message to the right market through the right media using the right method.

Here are the 5 ingredients you don’t want to miss when writing a postcard:

1. Good Headline.

The purpose of the headline is to force the reader to read the next line. Make a compelling headline.

2. USP: Unique Selling Proposition

What does this mean?
First, it means it is necessary to decide exactly what you want to say to let people know what you have to offer. Tell them what is unique about you. In other words, your message needs to relate what is so special about you that people will rather buy from you than someone else. Dan S. Kennedy -a Direct Marketing Guru- put it this way “Why should I do business with you above any and all other options including doing nothing or whatever I am doing now?”
A perfect example is Domino’s Pizza. Their message is, Fresh, hot pizza delivered in 30 minutes or less, or it”s yours free. Guaranteed.”
I also like what Federal Express does. They distinguish themselves from the competition by saying that they should be called on, “When it absolutely, positively must be there overnight.” They moved from an unknown company to multibillion (with a B) dollars company in a few short years.
Example. Your postcard can read, “Is your house still unsold? I’ll buy it in 7 days.”

3. Boost your USP with an Irresistible Offer

What is an irresistible offer?
It’s an offer you’ll be stupid to past by.

4. Add a Powerful Guarantee

A powerful guarantee is when your customer cannot lose
Try this on. “For a measly $297.00, I’ll show you how to set up your real estate investment business, help you find your first deal where you will make $5,000.00 minimum in 30 days, and guide you to secure a line of credit of $100,000 minimum. If I fail on my promises, you’ll get your money back plus $200 cash for the time you spent.” That last sentence shows how you should boost your irresistible offer with a great guarantee. It is very important to always think about what your prospect will gain from doing business with you.

5. Genuine Testimonials

Add as many testimonials as you can. Don’t be shy to include the names after you’ve made sure they give you permission to use their testimonials.
In summary, to design a good post card you must develop a distinctive USP with an irresistible offer powered by a wonderful guarantee anchored with genuine testimonials.

What is Hormone Replacement Therapy?

Tuesday, June 20th, 2006

Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is a medical treatment that combines estrogen and progestin to restore the premenopausal levels of estrogen. Hormone replacement therapy is prescribed for protection against osteoporosis and heart disease, and relief of menopausal symptoms.

Benefits

It has been well documented for several decades that Hormone replacement therapy is the most effective remedy for the hot flashes and sleep disturbances that often accompany menopause Hormone replacement therapy has also consistently been shown to decrease vaginal discomfort by increasing the thickness, elasticity, and lubricating ability of vaginal tissue. Urinary tract tissue also becomes thicker and more elastic, reducing the incidence of stress incontinence and urinary tract infections.

Some women and their doctors report that Hormone replacement therapy can be helpful in relieving the depression and mood swings that may occur during menopause and can produce a general sense of well-being and increased energy. Also, some find that Hormone replacement therapy increases skin thickness and elasticity, decreasing the appearance of wrinkles. While Hormone replacement therapy was used initially to reduce the discomfort from short-term menopausal symptoms, recent studies provide evidence that it may also reduce some of the negative long-term health effects of menopause. Scientists are continuing to gather information to define the potential benefits from Hormone replacement therapy and to identify the women for whom it may be most useful. Further research will also be needed to show when Hormone replacement therapy should be started and how long it should be continued to achieve the greatest benefits.

Drawbacks:

While Hormone replacement therapy has potential benefits, it also can have drawbacks. Some of the side-effects of Hormone replacement therapy are: vaginal bleeding, breast pain, nausea, cramping, headaches, fluid retention, vaginal discharge, depression, irritability, weight gain and bloating. A few months adjustment period is often necessary for women beginning this therapy. Every woman entering menopause should have a physical examination and then talk with her doctor about her overall health, her family history and her physical and psychological concerns. Working with your doctor to assess your risk factors accurately should help you determine whether the benefits of this therapy outweigh the risks for you personally. If you are concerned about Hormone replacement therapy, consider other effective non-medical therapies for addressing your needs, and seek a second opinion before initiating a course of treatment.

The Effect of Hysterectomy on Sexual Response and Sexual Identity

Tuesday, June 20th, 2006

Women have mixed emotions regarding the effect of hysterectomy on sexual response and sexual identity. Most woman go on to have a normal sex life, some have a heightened response, while others are less able to have a sexual response following hysterectomy due to their perceived loss of femininity.

Some women may notice a change in their sexual response after the uterus has been removed. For example, uterine contractions a woman might have associated with orgasm may no longer be perceived. Other women may experience a heightened response. This may be due to the fact that they no longer have to worry about getting pregnant and no longer have tremendous pain or dysfunctional bleeding.

If the ovaries are not removed, the outer genitals and the vagina are not affected and remain lubricated when a woman is sexually aroused. If the ovaries are removed at the time of hysterectomy, vaginal dryness may be a problem during sexual intercourse. Vaginal dryness can be helped with the use of estrogen cream.

During a hysterectomy your doctor removes vaginal tissue. This may make the vagina shorter. Deep thrusting during intercourse may be painful. Changing positions during intercourse may help, such as being on top or bringing your legs closer together.

Recently interest in supracervical hysterectomies (where the cervix is not removed at time of hysterectomy) has grown out of speculation that women might enjoy better sexual function after hysterectomy when the cervix is left in place. A new study has found there is no difference in sexual function or quality of life when a supracervical hysterectomy is performed instead of a total abdominal hysterectomy.

Post hysterectomy depression may interfere with sexual response. Depression may follow a hysterectomy from a concept that femininity and an intact functioning uterus are one. Some women link their self-image with reproductive ability. Menses reminds a woman of her uniqueness where hysterectomy takes away this cue. Many women have a brief emotional reaction to the loss of the uterus and ovaries that erodes their sense of well-being and femininity. If the problem persists please discuss your feelings with your doctor.

Be sure if you are considering a hysterectomy you discuss your personal health and medical history with your doctor. He or she will help you decide what procedures are best for you given your personal condition. Many women find this procedure helpful to their overall health and well-being, especially if they are at risk for certain cancers or other debilitating health conditions.

Why your site should be developed with CSS and semantic markup

Friday, June 16th, 2006

One thing that I have learned in over a decade developing web sites is that the Net is continually changing, and to keep up you need to change with it. One of the more recent developments in web design is the use of CSS and semantic markup. CSS and semantic web design has several benefits: clarity in code, browser and other web-enabled devices compatibility, seperation of content and
presentation, smaller burden on bandwith, and better visibility to search engines.

Back in the day, we designed sites with tables and hacked those tables into doing things that they were never meant to do. The table tag was designed to display tabular data, not as a way to render the layout of a website. Unfortunately, a better alternative did not exist, so we used tables. This made for inefficient, slow loading sites with code that was very hardt o read and maintain. Wikipedia defines sematic markup like this:

Sematic pages: supply information for Web search engines using web crawlers. This could be machine-readable information about the human-readable content of the document (such as the creator, title, description, etc., of the document) or it could be purely metadata representing a set of facts (such as resources and services elsewhere in the site). (Note that anything that can be identified with a Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) can be described, so the semantic web can reason about people, places, ideas, cats etc.)

These days, hip designers and developers use CSS extensively to create beautiful, fully standards compliant sites. CSS-based layout allows us to develop sites that will degrade effectively–that is that they will be viewable on all types of devices such as PDAs, cell phones, T.V.s–and will work correctly on devices that dont even exist yet as long as they are standards compliant.

Most importantly, developing sites with CSS allows us to effectively separate content and presentation. Have you ever looked at the source code of HTML pages that were created with a table-based layout and wondered what the heck is going on here? You see lots of opening and closing of tables and table rows all mixed together with textual content and graphics. With a clean, CSS-based layout you can create pages that are easily understood by looking at the source, making them easier to understand, maintain, and update. Look at the source of my company site http://www.vp3media.com and then look at the source code of this site that uses a tables based layout: http://webservices.org/. Big difference, huh?

If you have a site with high traffic, you can significantly reduce the amount of bandwdth used by transitioning from a table-based site to a CSS-based layout. If a visitor to your site doesnt have to load all of the code needed to render those tables and spacer gifs, you are transmiting less data.

CSS also offers search engine optimization benefits over tables. If you have a tables based business site that relys on Internet traffic to turn a profit or aquire new clients you will see real advantages by switching to CSS. When a search engine spiders your tables-based site, they retrieve a large amount of content that has nothing to do with you business. When search engines spiders a clean CSS-based site, the majority of content retrieved will be textual content that describes your business. The ratio of content-to-code is higher with CSS-based layouts.

Weve all seen search engine descriptions that dont make any sense; thats because search engine spiders use a top down method for retrieving information. Whatever is topmost in your document, the search engines are going to think is the most important part of the document, and therefore should be used as the description. Since we seperate content and presentation with CSS, we can put the most important information at the top of a document no matter where it is actually displayed on the page. Try that with tables!

I hope this article gives you an overview of why it is important to transition from your current tables-based layout to a fully valid CSS implementation. If you dont have a web site, but are planning on launching one in the near future, make sure you tell your developers you want a CSS-based implementation.

Recommending Products vs. Selling Them

Friday, June 16th, 2006

Some of the best sales people I have ever met, were able to meet all of their sales goals without ever selling a thing. They simply recommended their products to their customers.

They were able to do this because they spent years building their book of business.

Whenever a current customer walked into their office, or called them on the telephone, the sales person would recommend to them a new product or promotion that they had going on at the time.

A few things come into play here. The sales person had built a relationship with this customer over the years. A business relationship, like all relationships, is built on trust. These customers trusted the sales person, so they usually went with what was recommended.

Another thing is, the sales person knew the customer’s needs. The sales person did not recommend something to the customer that they did not need. He knew his customer well enough to recommend something that was going to make their life a little easier, or save them some money.

One last thing, whenever the customer approaches the sales person, it is a perfect opportunity to recommend your products. It is not as though the sales person called the customer and started pushing his products. Just the fact that the customers are comfortable approaching you or calling you, is a plus. It doesn’t get any easier than that.

Keep in mind, things like this just don’t happen over night, a lot of work was involved. These sales people have spent years building relationships through networking channels, and being loyal to their customers. Their customers have returned that loyalty by sending referrals their way.

Each time you speak with a person by phone or in person, it is an opportunity to strengthen the relationship you have with your customer. Get to know them, find out their needs, than, recommend the products you have that would fit their needs.

The more time you spend with a customer the better, this gives you and the customer an opportunity to build a business relationship.

Customers truly appreciate this kind of interaction. They want their lives to be more convenient. They want to save money. So get to know them, ask questions about their work and their family, people love to talk about themselves.

Take the extra time required to build relationships. People don’t want to be treated as statistics, so use their name frequently when speaking with them. Don’t close the sale and hurry them out the door.

These are the habits of successful sales people, so learn from them, and meeting your sales goals will seem a lot easier. Good luck.

What Distinguishes You From Your Competitors

Friday, June 16th, 2006

U.S.P., in marketing, is the acronym for unique selling
proposition. This is asking, “What distinguishes you from
similar products or services, even businesses as a whole.?”

Even after going through the regular method of finding out
what was unique about several of my products and services, I
still found it difficult to name them. Because of this I
developed a list of 50 questions to help me in easy to
answer format.

Always compare apples to apples — at least as closely as
possible. Open your mind to the fact that somewhere there
is a similar — guaranteed. Find the similar, or as closely
related to, competitor’s product/service. Sit down with
their product or service material and review it line by
line. Look for an apple with the same target market.
Narrow down to one. If a service, chose a successful
service provider, higher revenue generation, with the same
target market.

Here are the 50 questions. Allow product and service to
mean the same for simplicity sake.

1. Make a list of their product benefits?

2. What are the benefits your product offers?

3. Identify the features they have that you don’t have?

4. Identify the features that you have? Compare.

5. What features are better in their product.

6. What features are better in yours?

7. Why are they better (from a buyers perspective)?

8. What is their price?

9. What is your price?

10. Why is your price different?

11. What emotional needs/desires does your product meet?

12. What physical needs/desires does your product meet?

13. Does your product sell better at different times of the
year? And if so, why?

14. Are any of your competitors local? If so, where are
they?

15. What is the size of your competitor’s business?

16. Where is this competitor marketing? Find their ads,
always keep them in your file.

17. What age and gender are they marketing to? Is the same
as yours?

18. What income level are they marketing to? What are you
marketing to?

19. What type of customer care do they offer? Research and
find out.

20. What type of customer care are you going to offer?
What’s different about your customer care or how can it be?

21. Do you offer a special type of advice that they don’t?
If so, what?

22. If you offer confidentiality, in what ways do you offer
this?

23. How is your confidentiality different than your
competitors? Or is it the same?

24. How fast does your competitor fulfill orders?

25. What type of answers do they have for their product?
Do they offer a FAQ (frequently asked question page)?

26. How fast do they answer questions? Submit one and find
out.

27. Do they offer a range of payment methods or are they
limited? What will be yours?

28. What is their customer service policy? Write yours and
know the difference.

29. How many ways can people contact them?

30. What are their “availability” hours?

31. Do they offer product discounts? What are their break
points?

32. How do they ship? Is it fr*ee or discounted in some
way?

33. Do they offer value-added incentives? This could be in
the form of complimentary documentation or time,

yours?

37. Does their staff have some special type of training?
Do you or can you get?

38. What makes you excited about selling this product?

39. How long have they been in business? Where are they on
the product maturity line? Where are you?

40. If you haven’t been in business as long, can you
explain your quick success?

41. What do customers say about them? What do yours say?
Similar is good but unique statements help more.

42. What statistics do you have on your product that you
can use to show your uniqueness?

43. Do they have any celebrity endorsements? You can you
get that is already known by your customers?

44. How many ways does the product change people life
styles or mindset?

45. How long does their product last by the customer? And
yours?

46. Where is the product in the trend line with customers?

47. How frequently does your competitor introduce something

48. How fast can they get their product to their customers?
Can you do better?

49. Were they the first in developing this product? How
long ago was that? Do you have newness as an advantage?

50. Location can be a key. Where is your office or
distribution house located? Can you create more than one
location? Do they have other locations?

Everyone wants to eat at restaurants that have the most cars
outside? They trust that if other people are eating there,
they have to have good food. What can you do to have the
most cars in your parking lot?

Home Weather Stations

Friday, June 16th, 2006

In this age of digital technology, with instant access to up-to-the-minute data, forecasts, and images from the National Weather Service (NWS) and innumerable other online sources; with timely reports from local broadcasters and cable television networks; with personalized forecasts and storm alerts sent directly to your email, pager, or cell phone; why would anyone need a home weather station?

The answer to that question lies right there in your backyard, where the weather conditions you experience at home are often not the same as any of those resources might suggest. We know that all too well living here in southwest Virginia, as weather conditions up on the mountain ridges can be completely different from those down in the valleys. Fortunately, keeping an eye on local weather conditions using your own state-of-the-art weather station has never been easier or more affordable. Whether simple or elaborate, home weather stations will provide you with information that cannot be obtained anywhere else. And having the ability to glance over at your weather station console from the comfort of your couch or armchair is not only convenient, but fascinating as well.

Depending on desired features and accessories, electronic weather station prices can range from as little as $30 to as much as $3,000 or more. Available in either wireless or cabled versions, these highly accurate weather instruments monitor a variety of weather conditions: temperature and humidity (both indoors and out), atmospheric pressure, precipitation, wind direction and speed, dew point, wind chill, and heat index – all displayed within the comfort of your home! More advanced weather stations offer enhanced features such as faster sampling rates, extensive data graphing and history, and additional sensors ranging from ultraviolet, solar radiation, and evapotranspiration to soil temperature/moisture and leaf wetness. All electronic weather stations include a clock and many of them are radio controlled, resetting themselves daily to the official U.S. government atomic clock located at Fort Collins, Colorado.

Cabled weather stations use a cable to connect their weather sensors to the indoor console. Drawbacks include the risk of lightning (must use lightning arrestors!) and having to drill a hole in the wall to link the two, but cabled units are generally less expensive than wireless units. Wireless weather stations use radio signals (typically in the 433 MHz band) to transmit measurements from the weather sensors to the indoor console, eliminating the need to string cable and drill holes. The maximum “unobstructed” (or “line of sight”) range between the sensors and indoor console can vary between models, from 80 to 1000 feet. However, their “effective” range is determined by the building materials their signals must penetrate (walls, siding, roof structure, etc.) and by sources of radio interference. As a rule-of-thumb for a typical installation, the effective range is about a third of the rated unobstructed range.

Weather station sensors need to be placed or “sited” properly to provide accurate measurements. Once installed, sensors transmit their data to the indoor console, which updates the display and records the readings at an interval set by the manufacturer. This interval may vary depending on the type of measurement (temperature, wind speed, rainfall, etc.) or may be fixed at one interval rate regardless of the type (every minute, every three minutes, etc.).

Some home weather stations are capable of interfacing with a computer, either included as part of the package or available as an optional accessory. A computer-linked weather station offers not only real-time display of weather measurements on your computer monitor, but also provides for advanced data collection and graphical weather analysis. And with a dedicated internet connection, you can even post weather data to your own weather web page or become a part of the process by sharing your readings with the Citizen Weather Observer Program (CWOP), which forwards the information in a format that the National Weather Service can use. Even if your weather station isn’t connected to a computer, you can still participate as a volunteer Skywarn “spotter,” providing your local NWS weather forecast office with important weather measurements and severe weather reports.

Interest in weather is nearly universal and the information that home weather stations provide, combined with additional relevant study, can offer you an opportunity for a rewarding lifelong hobby. Most have discovered that their home weather station has given them a better understanding of weather, which has heightened their interest in other aspects of the natural world. After all, weather observation is not just confined to where you live.

4 Alternative Ways To Gain Lifetime Customers

Friday, June 16th, 2006

You will always have more people that turn down
your offer than actually buy. They might not have
bought because of your price, payment options,
or any other possible reason. You will just end up
loosing all these potential lifetime customers.
However, there are many ways you can minimize
the loss of these prospects.

One way is to accept barter offers for your product.
Maybe the person can’t afford to buy your product.
They may have something you could use in your
business or personal life. If the barter deal isn’t fair
enough, either of you could add in some cash. You
may not make money but, they might buy other
products you offer.

Another way is to include a negotiation offer at the
end of your ad copy. Tell your reader if there is
something they don’t like about your offer, they
could contact you and negotiate a different buying
offer. They may not like your price, guarantee,
shipping methods, payment options, etc. You can
gain a potential lifetime customer by being flexible
with your offer and negotiating instead of loosing
them.

A simple way to attract lifetime customers would
be to give people a freebie. The freebie should be
related to the other products or services you sell.
You may not be getting paid for the freebie, but
you will get a lot more people using one of your
products because it is free. If they are impressed
by your free product there is a high chance they’ll
buy your other products in the future.

The last way is to sell your product at the price it
costs you to produce or buy it. You will usually
sell more products at a lower price than your
competition which equals more potential lifetime
customers. You will break even in cost but you’ll
make your profit from the upsell and backend
products you sell your lifetime customers.

Quote of the Day:

“A man’s mind may be likened to a garden, which may be
intelligently cultivated or allowed to run wild; but
whether cultivated or neglected, it must, and will, bring
forth…

Just as a gardener cultivates his plot, keeping it free
from weeds, and growing the flowers and fruits, which he
requires, so may a man tend the garden of his mind, weeding
out all the wrong, useless, and impure thoughts, and
cultivating toward perfection the flowers an fruits of
right, useful, and pure thoughts. By pursuing this process,
a man sooner or later discovers that he is the master
gardener of his soul, the director of his life. He also
reveals, within himself, the laws of thought, and
understands, with ever-increasing accuracy, how the
thought-forces and mind-elements operate in shaping his
character, circumstances, and destiny.” — James Allen

A Simple and Permanent Cure for Childhood Obesity

Friday, June 16th, 2006

Scouring the multitude of medical research literature, media releases, and paediatric literature, it is absolutely clear that the cure for childhood obesity is a simple case of ensuring that children’s calorie intake is appropriate for the amount of physical activity undertaken. It is clear if a child drinks a couple of cans of sweetened soft drink that same child will have consumed an extra 300 calories and 20 teaspoons of sugar, all of which need to be `worked off’ to avoid obesity. It is estimated it would take 1 hour of intense high-impact aerobics to work off those extra 300 calories.
We’ve been lead to believe that avoiding childhood obesity is complicated and time-consuming, requiring a team of nutritionists, fitness experts, educators and even private investigators to ensure our children do as they’re told.
Ute Fumeaux, CEO and founder of child-educational-toys.com is a mother of 3 and an ex-aerobics instructor. Her background means she’s conscious of the need for all of us to move more. Ute has always encouraged her children to eat a wide variety of healthy and delicious natural, unprocessed, raw foods. Yes her children have treats but these treats are a very low percentage of the children’s daily calorie intake.
Professor Gary Egger of Deakin University and author of a number of books including “Gut busters” agrees with Ute’s practice he says the problem is we and our children are getting fatter. In the last 20 years Australians have been putting on weight at the rate of one gram a day. But we eat less than our grandparents did, so why all that extra weight? Prof Egger believes technology is primarily to blame. We have so many gadgets to do things for us that we have become lazy. In fact, we are using 800 calories less energy every day than we did in 1970.

“I don’t think the human body is ready for the technological revolution,” Prof Egger said.

Social factors are also contributing to this general slow down of movement, right from a child’s earliest years. Parents are more reluctant to let their children play too far from the home. Very often, a child’s world is limited to the house and a small backyard.

And the television and home computer appear to be nudging out tree climbing and other outdoor activities on the most favoured pastimes list. Prof Egger says the evidence suggests that watching television actually slows down our metabolism, making it harder to burn off the extra calories. The snack food advertisements on TV and the fast food culture are all adding to our growing girths too.

The good news is we don’t have to give up all our favourite foods and we don’t have to eat less. In fact, we can eat more, providing we eat differently, Prof Egger says. It is the high fat foods, the chips and peanuts, that we eat that make us put on weight. He suggests we increase our intake of raw fruit and vegetables and increase our physical activity.
Prof Egger isn’t suggesting we throw away our computers and techno games, after all that’s part of what’s making this century so interesting, all he’s suggesting is that we balance it all out. Sure your child can spend an hour on the computer, watching TV or playing video games but then make sure he/she is spending at least an hour running around kicking a ball, climbing trees, swimming, bike riding, playing chasings, rumbling, jumping on a trampoline or another fun, active game.
Prof Egger isn’t suggesting your child never eats ice creams or lollies, he’s just suggesting that those empty calories are just a very small part of a diet loaded with raw fruit, vegetables, nuts (where appropriate) and seeds, grains, lean meat.
Prof Egger suggests you educate your child about healthy eating, include them in food preparation wherever possible (most mums would be happy with that) and educate them on the healthful benefits of regular exercise.
The key message to all children and parents needs to be that we all need to balance out our calorie intake and energy output and make sure we have fun with both.

Choosing the Right Home Business Opportunity

Friday, June 16th, 2006

When you want to choose a work at home business opportunity there is a lot of decisions you have to make. Towards the end of last year, I typed “work at home” into the search engine to see what I could find. I will tell you, there is no shortage of opportunities posted on there. For me, a person who has a hard time making up my mind, it was hard to know what to do.

It may take a few times until you find something you are comfortable with and enjoy doing. You have to decide what it is that you would be able to do that fits your personality. I tried something before I started doing what I am doing now that really was not suited for me. I had to call people up and talk them into the product. This for me was extremely difficult because I do not have an aggressive personality, and I really don’t like to talk people into things. Needless to say, it did not take me long to realize this was “not me” and I needed to look for something else.

The opportunity I am doing now is so perfect for me. It does not involve calling up family, friends, and strangers. I can do this all on my own. The other thing I like about it is it is a very good learning experience for me. It is always good to learn new things. I remember a neighbor of mine who was 90 years old at the time telling my then five-year old son and I about something he had learned that day about building a roof. When he was done telling us he looked at my son and said, “Remember you are never too old to learn.”

What work at home opportunity is for you? Decide what it is you like to do and feel comfortable doing. Once you decide that you should be able to make up your mind and find the perfect work at home opportunity for you!

Do You Know How Many Ways There Are To Eat A “Cat Head Biscuit”?

Friday, June 16th, 2006

A time honored Southern tradition, the infamous “Cat Head” biscuit has become as much an icon of

southern cooking as fried chicken. Just say the words “Cat Head Biscuits” almost anywhere in the

South and you will instantly conjure up memories childhood and of mouthwateringly delicious meals.

Born of humble beginnings, the “Cat Head Biscuit” was never anything fancy. Just a few simple

ingredients, usually mixed and “patted” out by hand, these delicacies bring back wonderful memories

like no other food can.

What makes a “Cat Head Biscuit” so special; it’s just a biscuit after all, right? I can’t honestly

say why they are loved so much or why just the mention of the name sparks such comforting memories.

Maybe it’s the thoughts of our mothers and grandmothers standing in hot kitchens, over wood burning

stoves, lovingly preparing food for their families or maybe it’s that first bite fresh from the

oven. This is the very definition of “Comfort Food”. From that first savory taste of butter as you

bite through the crispy crust to the soft, warm inside; you know you are in for a real treat!

As in days gone by, the “Cat Head Biscuit” is enjoyed with almost every meal. In fact this

versatile bread can easily be eaten in a different way with every meal or become a meal in itself.

Here are just a few ways to enjoy them:

Aside from the usual biscuit filled with various homemade jams and jellies, we sometimes eat them

hot from the oven, filled with a generous amount of brown sugar and butter. The butter melts over

the brown sugar and creates a breakfast food that no store-bought brown sugar and cinnamon toaster

pastry can even touch. This is what my grandmother would fix me for breakfast as a child.

Split open or torn into small pieces and smothered with one of the delicious southern gravies such

as Chocolate Gravy, Sausage Gravy, or one of the homemade fresh “Fruit Jams”.

Not much in the world of food is as good as a sandwich made out of a big ol’ “Cat Head Biscuit” with

a large slice of a ripe, red tomato and a little salt or with a slice of pork tenderloin or ham.

“Cat Head” biscuits also make great desserts when served warm and covered with your favorite

berries, ice cream, and whipped cream. This is also a very easy way to make a wonderful strawberry

shortcake.

Another way I remember eating them was to cream butter and honey or butter and molasses together and

spread over the hot biscuits.

The list goes on and on. Bake up a big ol’ batch for yourself and you will find that the “Cat Head

Biscuit” is one of the most versatile and delicious foods ever to come out of your oven.

Cat Head Biscuits (as big as a cat’s head)

2 cups of flour
1/4 teaspoon of baking soda
2 teaspoons of baking powder
1 teaspoon of salt
5 tablespoons of lard or shortening
About 1 cup of buttermilk

Sift the dry ingredients together and cut in the lard or shortening. Add enough buttermilk to make a

soft dough. Pinch off about a lemon-sized ball of dough for each biscuit and pat out with your

hands. Bake for 12 – 15 minutes at 450 degrees or until the tops are golden brown. Remove the

biscuits form the oven and rub butter on the tops of the hot biscuits to coat.

Travel Kashmir at cheapest price

Friday, June 16th, 2006

Set like a jewelled crown on the map of India, Kashmir is a many faceteddiamond, changing character with the seasons – always extravagantly beautiful.Three Himalayan ranges, Karakoram, Zanaskar and Pir Panjal – snow capped, majestic, frame the landscape from northwest to northeast. They are the birthplace of great rivers which flow through the kashmir valley.RajTaringini the chronology of the Kashmir Kings written by Kalhana eulogises the beauty of Kashmir as follows:”Kasmira Parvati Paroksh; Tat Swami ch Maheswara”. Meaning Kashmir is as beautiful as Goddess Parvati manifest; and its owner is Lord Shiva Himself” And the Mughal Emperor exclaimed “Gar Bar-ru-e-Zamin Ast ; Hamin Ast ,Hamin Ast Hamin Asto. Meaning if there is paradise on this earth : This is it, this is it, this is it.
Srinagar is at once a collection of images: a son-et- lumiere that tells the story of the love of the Mughal emperors for this paradise vale; deep green rice fields and river bridges of gardens in bloom and lakes rimmed by houseboats; at once summer capital of the state, business centre and holiday resort.
Srinagar is as much imagination as it is fact, for every season offers new vistas to this city of great antiquity. Spring breathes life again into a frozen world and the air is heady with the fragrance of a million flowers that blossom on trees, shrubs and creepers.Summer heightens the effect and autumn is poignant in its colours of warm introspection. Winter brings with it snow, sometimes the Dal Lake freezes and beneath a leaden sky, roasted chestnuts turn the atmosphere aromatic with the promise of warmth and comfort.
The river Jhelum and the Dal and Nagin lakes dominate Srinagar and its life and activities. Here lush wild gardens of lotus and waterlily flower amidst bustling lanes.By the lakeside spread the gardens of the Mughals in patterned beauty. And the people move with a tranquillity borne of a history laden pulse of activity.
IF legends are to be believed, the Kashmir valley was once a lake as large as a sea and here lived an abominable demon who was killed after most of the lake had been drained with the collective help of Brahma’s grandson, Kashap and the goddess Parvati. She wasfinally stilled the demon by dropping upon him a mountain and thereby crushing him to death. This legendary mountain is no other than Hari Parbat, Srinagar’s ‘Takht-i- Sulaiman’ hill that forms the famous backdrop to the city.

Why Pay for Online Press Release Distribution?

Friday, June 16th, 2006

We’ve all heard that “free advice is worth what you pay for
it…”

Shakespeare put it a little more eloquently in King Lear,
when the aging monarch admonished his daughter Cordelia,
“Nothing shall come of nothing…”

And when it comes to distributing press releases online, I
now know from first hand personal experience that “if you’re
going to play, it’s best to pay.”

But the good news is, you don’t have to pay much. In fact,
compared to the return you get, your cash outlay is
extremely well spent.

Here’s what I’m talking about.

Last March I distributed a online press release through
PRWeb at http://publicity-pro.prwebdirect.com/

I paid $1.00, even though PRWeb’s actual minimum is $0.00.

Now, PRWeb tracks results. You can find statistics on how
many people actually accessed your press release, opened the
link, printed it out, forwarded it to someone else, etc.

I was pleased with numbers. The link to the release was
opened 4780 times.

Pretty good, huh?

But wait!…as they like to say in all those infomercials
you watch when you have insomnia.

I submitted a similar release Tuesday morning, August 23rd.
I paid $80 for it.

By noon Wednesday morning, August 24th, the release had been
“accessed” 41,090 times.

Plus, when you searched for the word “publicity” on Yahoo News,
links to my press release came number two *and* number three.

In other words, for 80 bucks I got a chance to tell more
than 40,000 people about the Publicity Pro website.

Plus, think about all the one way, incoming links I got
that will help raise Publicity Pro’s search engine ranking.

Not a bad return on my investment, wouldn’t you say?

All things considered, it’s a whole lot of bang for 80
bucks.

I’m not the only one who believes in the power of online
press releases.

A number of friends and colleagues have enjoyed similar
success using http://publicity-pro.prwebdirect.com/
I’ve set up a special page where you can view their comments
at http://www.publicity-pro.com/prwebcomments.htm

All of them would agree, free is good. Free is very good.

But there’s another proverb that you’ve undoubtedly heard,
and it applies to online press release distribution.

“To make money, you have to spend money.”

As much as I hate to admit it, I guess it’s true sometimes.

But here’s the good news.

When it comes to reaping the free publicity an online
press release can bring…

A little money goes a long, long way.

INETFORMFILLER – NEW TECHNIQUES IN ONLINE WEB FORM FILLING

Friday, June 16th, 2006

Sick and tired of filling in numerous online web forms and trying to remember all the passwords you have? Forget the trouble. Just enter your personal data into a profile once, and let iNetFormFiller do the job. This program will allow you to easily avoid performing routine operations and can fill in a most complex web form with just a single mouse-click on your part!

INETFORMFILLER – NEW TECHNIQUES IN ONLINE WEB FORM FILLING.

On the Internet, places where form-filling is required are plenty. You have to specify your username and password to access a secure resource, you have to provide some personal data to login or register, or when subscribing to a newsletter. Examples are numerous. In all these cases we actually deal with the so-called web forms, which serve as a bridge between your machine and the server that receives the submitted data.

INetFormFiller is one of the latest innovative applications in the field of automatic form-filling and is interesting for two chief reasons. One the one hand, it supports most of the characteristic features of the software of this kind; on the other one – it does incorporate a number of ground-breaking functionality enhancements that can make your work on the Internet a great deal more efficient, whether you need to register at some online resource, fill in a web form, make an online order in an e-shop etc. And the best part is, little or n user guidance is required – iNetFormFiller is truly automatic.

After you install iNetFormFiller, you’ll see a new toolbar in your browser that lets you easily access all the tools you need. By utilizing these tools you can streamline your form-filling activities significantly.

AUTOFILLING WEB FORMS ONLINE.

Using iNetFormFiller we can prepare all the data necessary to automatically fill in a web form later on. This includes specifying your first and last name, date of birth, field of occupation, country, some information concerning the organization you work for and its products and or services. The availability of the previously entered data allows you to greatly save your precious time on the Internet, since you won’t need to desperately type in loads of required information and worry about possible data loss which is common online.

When iNetFormFiller encounters an unknown web form, it attempts to fill it in with the data available in the currently active profile. However, it’s likely that the form will not be completely filled. In that case, you can always complete it manually and save it. The data you enter will be stored together with this web form and next time you visit the page, the web form on it will be completely ready for submission. Additionally, you can always modify the web form with your personal data any time, even when offline. This feature is usually present in most popular form-filling software programs. However, iNetFormFiller, as distinct from other similar software will always store your web forms’ look and feel – in other words, your saved web forms will look exactly the way they do online, which simplifies your work a lot. Besides, after you’ve finished your work online, you can browse through al the web forms you dealt with during, say, the last session and modify them offline as though they were real forms on the Net.

When revisiting a web page, iNetFormFiller allows not only auto filling the familiar forms, but also submitting them automatically. For instance, is we find ourselves at a web form we already once filled in and the program is configured to auto submit the data, the given web form will appear completely filled in and will be submitted instantly.

On the web we often have to deal with not just a single web form, but rather with a sequence of them. And the next web form is usually accessible only when the first one has been submitted. This means the process of filling in a specific form is includes several stages. In this case iNetFormFiller can really become an excellent time-saver, letting you avoid many and many routine operations. Once all the required forms are completed, the next time you need to perform the same task, all you’ll have to do is set the necessary profile as default and load the necessary web page. It’s as simple as that. All the registration work will be done by iNetFormFiller, who will automatically walk through all the stages necessary.

NEW INNOVATIVE FEATURES FOR GREATER EFFECIENCY AND FLEXIBILITY.

Sometimes, however, the registration process can be complicated, since at one of the intermediate stages you’re required to click some hyperlink (say, to select some subcategory from the list of available categories). And the requirement is, you cannot click it until you successfully filled in the previous form. For instance, many resources will not allow you to access the web form to fill in unless you authenticate (that is provide your username and password). Only then is it possible to access the available subsections of the resource where other forms it fill become available.

None of the known software programs are capable of overcoming an obstacle like this. A typical software form-filler will just fill in the first web form, which includes the authentication information and then halt, since it doesn’t detect any other forms to fill. iNetFormFiller can address this problem by delivering the award-winning `record navigation feature’. In our case you only need to enable clicks recording from the start – and apart from saving the web forms data, iNetFormFiller will additionally `memorize’ all the hyperlinks you click on to reproduce the whole process automatically later on.

The second problem with other software of that kind is that it doesn’t correctly process web pages with more than one online form. They basically fail to decide, which form to process and just do nothing. iNetFormFiller enables you to easily specify, which one of the available web forms should be used by default thus addressing this issue.

Thanks to the above-mentioned features the registration process with iNetFormFiller can become truly automatic. You only have to go through the whole thing once, and next time the procedure becomes a piece of cake, even if you are using completely new data.

MANUAL BINDING.

When attempting to fill in an unknown web form, iNetFormFiller, similarly to most other popular form-fillers, will try to automatically find an appropriate field from the currently active profile and use the corresponding values. However, such an intellectual job can sometimes lead to errors, since the program can’t always correctly `guess’ which exactly input data is expected for this or that field. Such `unclear’ fields will be usually left unfilled, and the user will have to complete them manually. Things can be still worse, when the fields are not detected properly and the data is taken from other, formally similar profile fields (for instance, the program jumbles `company homepage url’ with `my homepage’). In such situation the user has to first delete the wrong values and then manually input the right ones.

That’s exactly why iNetFormFiller provides another unique feature — the ability to manually bind a field in a web form to a corresponding field in a specific profile. By utilizing this feature you can exactly specify what profile field should be used to fill in a given field in a web form.

Manual binding, clicks recording, saving web forms to a convenient format and other unique features only available in iNetFormFiller make the program truly stand out compared to other software performing similar functions. Thanks to these innovative capabilities iNetFormFiller can be called the only 100% automating tool in its field, since it’s capable of automatically performing the process of filling in web forms and doing complex registrations from A to Z while requiring little or no user guidance.

Intuitive and easy-to-use, offering integration with a browser familiar to you, iNetFormFiller can make an excellent assistant for anyone who decides to streamline working with information on the Internet. Whether we need to submit our homepage to search engines, purchase some items online in an e-shop or speculate on the Stock Exchange – you can always rely on iNetFormFiller who will save loads of youк precious time, enough to do twice as planned.

Promotional Lanyards to Market Your Products and Services

Friday, June 16th, 2006

It has become fairly common place to see Id badges dangling from a persons neck on a short cord, and on the cord or small rope itself, is printed the name of a company, or a school or an event on it. When you spot one of these, you can be sure you’re looking at a lanyard.

Why is that? Well – a promotional lanyard belongs to that bag of tricks a marketing person uses to promote their business. Technically known as promotional marketing products, they can be rather serious gadgets or as silly as one can think of. It’s common to find watches, hats and t-shirts, key chains, note pads, etc, etc, and now the promotional lanyard, recruited to deliver a message to the customer. A lanyard that has been custom printed to ensure your company’s logo and message are visible to current or potential customers. They’ll give your company an marketing edge, because they are free, they generate lots of good will while adding awareness about your product or company, all for minimal costs.

Just walk around any trade exhibit and you’ll soon find yourself gravitating towards the booths that offer free promotional items. You’d better hurry too, as they are often crowded and you could miss out on these items.

Why then has the promotional lanyard emerged as one of the marketing world’s most popular promotional gadgets? Here are four good reasons why you should consider using promotional lanyards:

Cheap – even if you need to consider the material the lanyard will be made of, you can buy 500 pcs. Lanyard, with your company’s name or event printed on it, for as little as $110.00. It can also be as fancy as you’d like it to be.

Useful – who doesn’t need an Id holder? And if your client base uses lanyards, you’ve got a foot in the door.

Eye-catching – you can’t help but notice a lanyard dangling from someone’s neck.

Versatile – these are some of the features a promotional lanyard can have:

* retractable badge holders attached
* reflective lanyards for safety
* multicolored
* many materials
* height adjustable balls locks
* many different attachments available
* individual names printed on the promotional lanyard itself

What are some of the events or activities where you can use promotional lanyards?

At trade shows-, your promotional lanyard will have a visible message, and be an identification holder. Also, while show organizers use imprinted lanyard badge holders to promote their show, the sponsors can have theirs with slogans that motivate customers to stop by their booth. The organizers can use the lanyards as identification to enter the show floor.

When you launch a new product, and usually these pharmaceutical companies use imprinted lanyards with a new drug promotion and give these away free.

Use lanyards in corporate events and activities, such as seminars, conferences and conventions. The organizers can imprint the slogan for the event or activity, so that the entire members group knows what the activity is.

For security identification, these can be for all or any of the following: visitors’ i.d.s, employee i.d.s and student i.d.s. Or your company can use lanyards to for id badges for security entrance and employee identification. So even while the lanyard is securing your company it is also promoting it.

Use lanyards in hospitals, where hospital employees can wear imprinted lanyards with badges to allow access to certain floors.

For school activities and events – have teachers and students wear imprinted lanyards for entry into schools. Each grade level can adopt a slogan for the year, and it’s a way of identifying them. Slogans such as “play it safe” or “Fun in learning all year round”.

For community activities and events – such as a church youth rallies or charitable events where volunteers can feel that they are part of the community effort.

Promotional lanyards are also cheap enough that you can send them in direct mail promotions. Some markets would be receptive to this offer.

One popular website estimates that: “Promotional-marketing products can help drive sales. In 1999 alone, businesses spent $13 billion on them; that’s up from $5 billion in 1990.” So think about promotional lanyards next time you plan an event!

Creative Visualization: How to Supercharge Your Goal Setting

Friday, June 16th, 2006

Do you know the single best way to “supercharge” any goal setting program you use is through visualization?

What is visualization? And how do you do it for maximum goal achievement?

Actually, it’s quite simple and something you do all the time.

Simply create a mental picture of the end result of your goal.
Completely visualizing your desired goal is also an extremely powerful way to change one’s subconscous programming for the better.

For example, if your affirmation is “I easily make $1,000 or more each week”
then you simply create a mental picture of:

  • depositing $1,000 into your bank account;
  • holding 10 $100 bills in your hand;
  • seeing a check of $1,000 made out to you.
  • The list is endless and only limited by your imagination. So let your imagination go wild…

Here’s a chance to daydream like you did as a kid.

Let’s assume your affirmation is “I weigh 110 lbs” (or whatever weight you wish to weigh)

Simply create a mental picture of you:

  • stepping on a scale and seeing the numbers go to your desired weight;
  • looking in the mirror and seeing yourself as you wish to look;
  • having friends and family members tell you how great you look, etc.
  • Again, allow your imagination to take over and have fun with your visualization.

Each time you visualize your desired goal, feel free to change the mental picture or use the same one repeatedly.
If you like, make your visualization into a mini “mental movie.” Add as many senses as possible to the movie.

  • Start off with the visual aspect of the picture.
  • Then add the sounds you hear in your movie.
  • Then add the scents you smell in the movie.
  • Then add the textures of the things you touch into the movie.
  • Finally, add the emotions you feel into the movie.
Feel the excitement, satisfaction, and sense of well-being you are experiencing as you have reached your goal.
  • This is often called “complete visualization” and gives your subconscious mind a very clear picture of what you want to accomplish.

Here’s how a complete visualization, using the above example, would go:

You hold in your hands 10 fresh $100 dollar bills.

You can feel their crispness and notice their fresh ‘money’ smell.

You look around you and see your local bank.

As you wait in line to deposit your money, you begin to feel the excitement of knowing you now have $1,000 or more to deposit every week.

As you approach your favorite bank teller, you hear them say “Welcome to ABC National Bank. What can I help you with today?”..

Did you notice how you combined all 5 senses and the crucial element of positive emotions into your dream scenario?

You probably even felt a little excitement reading the above visualization.

    That’s the power of visualizations!

Again, let your imagination have fun and form your own unique “mental movies”

Did you know that if you spent 5-10 minutes every day doing this simple “daydreaming” you’d be on the effortless road to accomplishing any goal you wanted?

Make A Stunning Dried Hydrangea Wreath

    Friday, June 16th, 2006

Dried hydrangea wreaths are so beautiful and versatile in a home, and a lot of fun to make as well.

You can either purchase already dried hydrangea flowers from your local craft store, or you can dry your own. The biggest trick when drying your own is the timing of when you pick the flowers. It is best to pick them right before you anticipate your first fall frost. If
you pick them mid-summer, they just will not dry
    correctly.

You can either hang them upside down in a darkened room to dry, or you can set them in a vase upright, even adding a tiny bit of water in the bottom of the vase, although even that is optional. As long as they are picked at the correct time, it’s difficult to fail with
them. It’s fun if you can, to pick several blooms from different bushes, as it will provide a nice variety of colors to the wreath. After they are dried, pick off any dead / discolored brown blooms.

Now, pick the type of base you want to use for a
wreath. My personal favorites are either Styrofoam or grapevine type wreath bases. Take some floral wire and wrap it around the wreath, then form a loop of the wire to hang from the wall, and then wrap the wreath again. You might try hanging it from the wall at this point to make sure it lies correctly, and then make any
needed adjustments while the wreath is bare.

To do a Styrofoam wreath, use a low melt point hot glue gun. Separate each bloom into smaller florets. Hot glue each floret into the wreath base, actually poking the stem down into the Styrofoam base. With each bloom, space it out over the surface of the wreath, for example; a floret at the top, next left side, bottom,
then right side, then inside the circle of the wreath, and outside of the wreath. Continue to do this with each bloom until you fill it.

Balance is what you are looking for. Balance in
shape, you don’t want any sticking out way above the others, you don’t want one side of the wreath to be fuller than the other. Try stepping back and looking at a distance and just think “balance of shape”.

The second area to look for is balance of color. This is the purpose of doing each bloom all over, then filling in, so you achieve that balance of color. Give another once over to check on that.

Now, this wreath is either finished, or you can add perhaps add small sprigs of dried baby’s breath to it. Really depends on the look you want. Sometimes the simplicity of only the hydrangeas is stunning.

For a grapevine wreath, it’s the same principal but a different look. You can tie a bow on the wreath if you want (if you do, do so before adding flowers), or ribbon. I like to leave bare spaces on these to be able to see the grapevine portion as well. Again,
look for balance. You can also add dried roses to it or any other type of dried flowers or grasses too. You can get really creative with these and come up with very different looks. Experiment to your heart’s content.

Many times people expect dried floral arrangements to last forever, and are disappointed when they start looking bad after a few years. This is a misconception. Expect them to look good for about a year, that’s really about all they were meant to last.

If they are in direct sunlight it will be a much
shorter time. However, the next year, feel free to strip the old flowers off, and make another with the same base for another year’s worth of a gorgeous hand made wreath!

MakeFueling The Ideal – Marketing With Articles

    Friday, June 16th, 2006

It’s that time of year again … pages of backpacks, notebooks and back-to-school clothing fill every circular that hits your mailbox. And you’re off to the races … the races being the mall, plus every other store in between.

You’re in the same spot you were last year this time, getting ready to head off to work while your kids head off to school. Back to hugging them goodbye in the morning and seeing them just long enough in the evening to say I love you and tuck them in.

Wouldn’t it be fantastic if the easier schedule of the summer lasted all year long? No more spending all your hours away from your kids just to earn enough money to cover the essentials and pay daycare?

Take it from someone who knows both sides of the deal here and believe that there’s no time like right now to make the transition from the regular grind to working from home. As the proud Mom of a 2005 honors graduate who’s heading off to college soon, I know first hand what a major impact working from home has had on his success.

When my son was very young, I worked a full-time job away from home, plus at least one part-time job on weekends. This meant that my son was in daycare while I worked. As a single parent who didn’t receive child support (for years) though, I had no other choice.

A few years later in the 1990′s, I decided there had to be a better way so I started a part-time medical billing service from my home. This allowed me to give up the outside part-time job and gave me the practical means of earning the much-needed income. Best of all, it gave me the priceless opportunity to take care of my son while I worked. I quickly saw that I was onto something great here … what a concept!

I moved from the east coast to California with my son in 1995 where my first full-time job was with a consulting firm co-owned by a professional speaker. After some negotiations with my boss, we entered into an agreement by which I would work mornings in the office, leave to pick up my son from school in the afternoons and work from home the rest of the day. It worked out incredibly well … so well in fact, that in 2000, I decided to leave the consulting firm and start my own full-time home based virtual assistant business.

Starting from scratch, I knew that gaining exposure for my business was essential if I wanted to be successful in my new venture. I also knew that traditional forms of marketing are very expensive and quickly gobble up the profits, particularly in the early stages. However, I also remembered a technique that I used successfully for my former employer.

Besides being a consultant and professional speaker, he was also an author, so his goals included increasing his number of speaking engagements and selling more copies of his books. He hoped to accomplish these goals by establishing himself as an expert in his industry, which meant having his work published by every major magazine in his field.

Committed to accomplishing his goals, he gave me a list of those publications, so I drafted a query letter based on one of his story ideas and e-mailed it to the editor of one of the magazines. The editor responded in short notice and offered my employer an article assignment. They published my boss’s article soon afterwards and featured it on the cover of the magazine, producing an onslaught of calls to the office!

Writing and submitting that one article produced several paid speaking engagements. This new marketing intrigue fascinated me, so I fine-tuned my article submission process creating logs and checklists, and within a few months, my boss had accomplished his goal of publication in every magazine on his list!

Even online and in-print publications we hadn’t contacted began calling and e-mailing in request of articles. The results of writing and submitting articles was so successful that we put other major marketing techniques on hold so my boss could travel to his paid speaking engagements.

As my interest and experience grew in this area of marketing, I knew that if it worked for my boss that it would work for other professionals as well. Soon, I was earning over half my income handling article submissions for other professionals.

Then I realized that if this technique worked for other professionals that it would work for me too in building my own business. And it has worked for me!

This same marketing technique, which I call marketing with articles, has been the success behind my own business. I’ve used it to expand my client base and build my virtual assistance business into a solid income-generating company, which has allowed me to work full-time at home for the past five years. As my son is getting ready to leave for college, my personal goal now is to help other parents be successful in achieving their career goals while living the dream of staying home with their children.

The concept of marketing with articles does not require a professional writer. Anyone can be successful in building their business and gaining credibility as an expert in their industry or area of expertise by writing and submitting free reprint articles to online and in-print publications. The key to success is in reaching your target audience with resourceful information that is valuable to them.

Editors of both online and in-print publications are in constant demand of quality content for their readers. They have a continuing need to publish content that appeals directly to their target audience, which is where you come in. By writing and submitting free reprint articles to publications that reach readers in your market, you have the opportunity to establish yourself as an expert and gain a generous amount of exposure for your business.

True, you aren’t earning money for actually writing the articles, but you are earning a huge payoff here. Not only do you establish your credibility as an expert in your industry or area of expertise, but you earn significant exposure for yourself and your business. Most editors will include your byline with your articles, which gives you the opportunity to include your name and contact information, plus the URL of your web site. Readers come to recognize your name and relate it with certain topics. The more articles you write and submit, the more exposure you gain!

The marketing with articles technique helped turn my dream of working from home full-time into a precious reality that has made a positive impact for both my son and me. As he goes off to college, he’ll be leaving with all the benefits of having had a mom who found a way to support him financially without the high cost of being away from him all day. Me, I’ll have the benefit of knowing that the bittersweet wind I’m putting beneath his wings comes from my deepest desires for his complete success!
