What kind of browser are you using for online surfing? Explorer, Netscape, Firebox, Opera?? Sure, all are good programs but I want to talk about an excellent program called Netscape. If you use Netscape, do you know that you also get an amazing WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) web design program called Netscape Composer for free? Basically you don’t need expensive HTML editors anymore. The list of commercially available HTML editor’s software is endless – and the price tags are enormous. Most people don’t want to spend a lot of money to get started with their eBay business. Fair enough, since the goal is to make money and not to spend money. So it makes perfect sense to use a program to design auction listings which is available for free. And such a program is Netscape Composer.
It has the same professional features like FrontPage or any other similar program. To design stunning and professional looking eBay auction sites with Netscape Composer you need to download Netscape first. If you start up the program, select File->New Composer Page and basically you can start immediately to design your auction listings. You can make you letters in any colour, bold, italics, use background colours (or even images) etc. The options are endless. You can save this file on your local hard drive as html file. I used to have one file for every listing I generate. The best thing is that once you have got a nice and professional looking eBay auction listing, you can use it for ever. Just open your last listing in Netscape Composer and edit according to your new item. Amazingly, this takes only a couple of minutes.
But how do you transfer your listing saved as a html file on your local hard drive to eBay? The answer is simple. Once you have logged in into your eBay account and selected your category and starting price you have to type in your “item description”. Did you see that eBay allows HTML format? Have a look when you launch your next listing. That’s the time where you go back to your new listing you just have created with Netscape Composer. Down the bottom of your Netscape Composer page you’ll see a button called: SOURCE – the source code of your listing. Click on that and highlight and copy the entire text. Select then the eBay site and paste this text into the “Item description box”. Make sure that all links are working and that all photos are uploaded to the internet.
When you have finalized your listing you will be surprised. A stunning and professional looking “DIY-listing”. You can always use “ready-to-go” auction templates and edit these according to your item. You’ll see that with an professional auction design you can easily attract more buyers and get higher bids. It’s worth the effort. Keep in mind that professional web design software is highly expensive and does the same job. Alternatively, you can choose from a huge variety of third party auction services doing the job for you. But hey, there are incredibly expensive too. Don’t you think that the eBay fees are high enough and you can easily do it yourself without spending any additional dollars? It’s really simple!

Everyday more and more computers are becoming infected with Spyware and Adware (advertising tracking). No matter where you go on the web, someone is trying to sneak something on your computer. From honest web sites placing simple logon cookies, to paid advertising tracking your movements on the web, to malicious software that is designed to record your keystrokes and discover your passwords, Spyware and Adware have together become the web’s number one problem.
Many of these programs are down right dangerous and seriously threaten your online privacy and identity. But even the simple and supposedly benign Adware programs can cause you serious problems.
Spyware is any program that installs itself onto your computer with the intent to spy on your activity. This can be recording your online searching habits, or whatever you type on your keyboard. Adware is not much better. It is designed to watch what you do online, where you go, which terms you search for and then report this to the ad agency that runs the adware program.
Adware programs may be designed with the best intentions in mind, but even these can cause your computer serious problems.
Here is what happens. Many, if not most, advertisers on the internet will try and place a cookie or other small program on your computer. Many will add code that will track that cookie as it hits different pages. The code may be designed simply to gather anonymous data, or it may be trying to send ads to your browser that the advertising company thinks you will be more likely to respond to.
Whatever the case, the Adware or Spyware is using your computer to do its tracking. This means that part of your computer’s power and CPU cycles are being diverted away from the activity you are trying to perform. Your computer is being used by someone else instead to track your movements. Now, when we multiply this behavior by tens or hundreds of Adware or Spyware programs all trying to use your computer for their work you can begin to see the problem.
These programs can literally slow your computer down to a crawl, or make it crash altogether. They can fill your computer up with trash files, open unwanted popup windows, use up the space in your internet cache and generally just make working on your computer a nightmare.
Luckily there are several easy solutions to the problem. But first let me make one distinction, Spyware and Adware are not the same thing as a computer virus. Although a computer virus can install spyware on a computer, you will need different tools to remove a computer virus and to keep your system clean from Spyware and Adware. You should be using both a high quality commercial anti-virus program and one or more good quality programs for handling the spyware/adware problem.
There are several good Spyware/adware programs on the market. I use two different programs on my network, Ad-aware from Lavasoft and Spy Sweeper from Webroot Software although there are several others. You can easily find both of these by doing an internet search for Ad-aware and Spy Sweeper. Or simply do a search for spyware. Both of these programs will scan your hard drives and registry and present you with a list of spyware/adware programs hiding on your system. You can then quarantine or remove the offending programs. I use both of these programs since neither one seems to catch everything. Plus I will run them 2 or more times in a row, the nastier spyware will not be completely removed on the first pass.
The process is very easy and I recommend running these programs at least once a week and every time you have been doing some extended web surfing. You will be surprised at how many of these spyware/adware programs will sneak onto your system. I run a very clean network and I have yet to scan my system and not come up with at least a few of these hiding on my hard drive.
So be aware of the problem, take reasonable precautions, scan your system frequently, and the spyware/adware curse can be broken.

Roger Federer the swiss tennis player has it all. Federer is possibly the best player yet; the ever going rivalry with Nadal, the desire for the French Open title the only Grand Slam he has not conquered definitely keep the world’s No. 1 motivated and confident.
Every athlete knows very well that motivation is the key to success and a tennis player without confidence and the drive becomes obsolete and his/her accomplishments drop to the side.
The majority of the tennis audience considers Roger Federer has accomplished most of what the sport of tennis has to offer. Federer has been the world No.1 for the last four years and he has won twelve Grand Slams, he has developed himself a legend and basically he is considered by other tennis greatest as the best player in the history of sport tennis.
What inspires Roger Federer? What keeps him going if he has accomplished everything? The response is easily: Federer loves the game. He is totally submerged in the competition especially with rivals such as: Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal; players who despite being younger than him he has prevented from his world No. 1 spot.
Nevertheless; Djokovic and Nadal are very close to Federer’s supremacy, however the 26 -year- is a veteran and hard-minded and is likely to keep his crown as long as he possibly can; he understand this will be a hard task particularly with his two closest rivals playing really good in the present.
Without any doubt one of Federer’s aspirations for this year ATP calendar is to take Nadal’s supremacy as the champion of the French Open. Federer has not won the prominent tournament and he deeply desires the clay Grand Slam. He has been working very hard for the opportunity to succeed at Roland Garros. Right now, Federer is currently playing his third clay tournament of the year after his participation and win in Estoril and his Monte Carlo final loss to Nadal.
If Federer could achieve a win at the Italian Open in Rome as he did in Hamburg last year he will gather additional confidence and motivation to try to break Nadal’s dynasty in Paris. Some believe he might struggle while at play but the idea of a victory in the Masters Series Italian courts could certainly shift the future.
By achieving his French Open Grand slam shy he would complete his collection of titles on all surfaces. And let’s not forget his possible fifth title win in Wimbledon and another one at the US Open; awesome accomplishments for Federer if he really sets his mind to it. Many considered he deserves the chance to grasp the French Open and deep inside him he knows it is the ultimate event in his career.
Once again the head-to-head competition against menaces Rafael Nadal has been ongoing over the past three years and no one seems to get in the way of these two extraordinary players and their goals. Federer also makes it clear that he has no intention of letting his ranking go although Nadal is the king of clay; Federer is the potential player with the best skills to put him to the test. Federer certainly wants to rewrite history and book his name to be remembered for the future tennis generations.

Tips for Homeowners to Avoid Home Improvement Scams
May is National Home Improvement Month. During times of a softer economy paired with the approach of warmer weather, the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) wants to remind homeowners to beware of unscrupulous people posing as remodelers.
One common issue exploited homeowners have run into is having to pay both the contractor and the subcontractors. The homeowner’s financial obligations should only be to the contractor. Some dishonorable contractors are collecting large, upfront payments from residents. When the work has been completed, instead of paying the subcontractors, the dishonest business owner instead pays the interest on properties they have already purchased and can only re-sell below cost. This predictably leaves subcontractors without paychecks and forces them to establish mechanics’ or materialmens’ liens on their customers’ properties.
The subcontractors secure payment for their work, but this causes difficulties for homeowners, who then pay the same fee twice for one remodeling project. Since subcontractors have 90 days to file mechanics’ liens, it could take months for homeowners to realize that they have been defrauded. Residents should note that these types of liens will pay the subcontractors before the homeowners if occupants sell their properties.
Protect yourself
To avoid these circumstances and ensure that you only pay the cost of a project once, NARI suggests you take the following steps:
Be sure you hire an experienced remodeler and not a fly-by-nighter waiting for the building industry to pick up again.
Contact state or local licensing agencies to ensure a contractor meets all requirements.
Check with your local NARI chapter, the government Consumer Affairs Office or the Better Business Bureau to ensure the absence of any adverse files on-record for the contractor.
Ask to see a copy of the contractor’s certification of insurance or for the name of his or her insurance agency to verify coverage. Most states require a contractor to carry worker’s compensation, property damage and personal liability insurance.
Verify that the contractor’s insurance coverage meets all the minimum requirements. If homeowners request estimates from several different contractors, they should confirm that they are bidding on the same scope and quality of work. Discuss any variations in bids and beware of any bid that is much lower than the others.
Draw up a contract before a remodeler begins work that includes the contractor’s name, address, and phone and license numbers, if applicable. It should also include details about what the contractor will and will not do.
The agreement should offer a detailed list of materials for the project, with information such as size, color, model, brand name and product. The contract should include approximate start and completion dates.
Study the design plans carefully. Before any work begins, the homeowners should insist both that they approve the plans and that the contractor identifies the design plans in the written contract.
Known as the “Right of Recision,” federal law requires a contractor to provide a homeowner with written notice of the resident’s right to, without penalty, cancel a contract within three business days of signing it, provided it was solicited at some place other than the contractor’s place of business or appropriate trade premises.
Verify that you share an understanding of financial terms with the contractor and that the contract explicitly states them. The total price, payment schedule and any cancellation penalty should be clear.
The contract should include a warranty covering materials and workmanship for a minimum of one year, and identify the warranty as either “full” or “limited.” The contract must identify the name and address of the party that will honor the warranty, namely the contractor, distributor or manufacturer. Homeowners should make sure the document specifies the time period for the warranty.
In the event of a disagreement, a binding arbitration clause is useful. Arbitration may enable the homeowner to resolve disputes without costly litigation.
Before signing a contract, completely review it and confirm that you comprehend it. Consider the scope of the project and verify that the contract includes all requested items. If the agreement lacks mention of a specific, discussed item, consider it excluded. Never sign an incomplete contract, and always keep a copy of the final document for review.
Homeowners can depend on NARI
NARI reminds all homeowners that its members must adhere to a strict code of ethics and that there are grievance procedures in place for members who do not. Under the NARI code of ethics, members pledge to always provide quality service and work and follow the high ethical standards of the association, to only promote products and services that are functionally and economically sound, and consistent with objective standards of health and safety, that any advertising or sales promotions will be factually accurate, and any agreements or warranties will be fair and mutually beneficial to all parties concerned.
NARI members also agree to honor all contractual obligations, until and unless all contractual parties involved alter or dissolve them. They also will promptly acknowledge and act on any customer complaints, and refrain from any act intended to restrain trade or suppress competition.
NARI is the only trade association dedicated solely to the remodeling industry, and its members voluntarily subscribe to a strict code of ethics. Consumers may wish to search http://www.RemodelToday.com to find a qualified remodeler who is a member of NARI.
Consumers can also call the NARI National hotline at 800-611-NARI and request a free copy of NARI’s brochure, “How to Select a Remodeling Professional,” or visit http://www.RemodelToday.com and click on the homeowner’s guide for more information.

When it comes to dog training, different breeds need different types of training. Many people do not realize this and when it finally comes time for training they use incorrect methods and get no results. This can then lead to expensive dog behaviour therapy which could have been avoided if you just tried out a different training method.
It is always a good idea to research everything about a breed before you bring a dog home. So just how does training differ from breed to breed?
The Different Training Methods
There are hundreds of training methods available to try out these days, but not all of them will be right for your dog. Think of when you want to lose weight; there are hundreds of diets to choose from but not all of them will suit you because every individual is different. The same goes for your dog, even breed specific training does not always apply to some dogs. Generally however you should follow breed specific advice.
Terriers in particular often need firm training. They can be quite fiery and their instinct is to chase anything that moves. So for that reason housing them with different animals can be a struggle. Not all terriers will need firm training and by firm training that does not mean harsh – it simply means consistent training. You will have to have a lot of patience but it will be worth it.
Breeds that will need firm confident training include Rottweiler’s and Alsatians. They are guarding breeds and so they will need additional time spent socializing them with people and other dogs. Their instinct is to guard and protect and so they can be more dominant than other breeds. You have to train them thoroughly if they are to be good, loyal, well behaved pets.
Dogs which will require lighter training include Chihuahuas. They can be sensitive, so you should never be too firm with them. Be persistent, but don’t shout. They generally like to please their owners though they can also have a cheeky temperament too!
Breeds that will excel in training include sheepdogs and retrievers. They have a lot of energy and they like being kept busy. Spending a lot of time training will help to keep their minds occupied.
Generally the best way to train any breed properly is to find out the purpose of that breed. By finding out what drives them, you can develop a technique that will work. It will also help you to reward them too when they do things properly. If a dog is intelligent then you can teach them more things such as “hide and seek” where you hide toys and get the dog to locate them.
Some dogs will only require basic training. This includes things such as “sit”, “stay” and “down”. They are commands that will help to keep you and your dog safe when you are out for a walk. They will also help you to control your dog when visitors arrive at your door. The amount of training you take part in depends upon how trained you want your dog to be. Training should start the minute you bring your puppy home, but it should only get stricter once the puppy reaches a certain age. This will again vary depending upon the breed as some breeds mature quicker than others. As a rule smaller breeds tend to mature quicker than larger breeds. Saint Bernards for example can take up to 3-4 years to mature properly and come out of their puppy stage!
You know your dog. You will be able to see whether one method is working or not. The main thing is to make training as fun as possible. Even if you have to be firm, try and make the rewards at the end worth it. Your dog will learn to hate training if you punish them. So make it fun and know when to give up. Training periods for any dog should be kept to a minimum. If you try to train for too long then your dog could quickly lose interest and that is when you could undo the progress you have made so far.

1. Complete the Dress: Have your wedding dress steamed and pressed. Walking down the aisle in a wrinkled dress would be the worst thing that could happen for any bride. It is your big day; make sure you shine in a beautifully flawless dress. You will be glad you did it when you look back at photos!
2. Finalize the Details of the Ceremony: Contact the venue and church to verify any last minute scheduling. As we all know things can be hectic right before the big day and if you have a wedding planner do not worry. However, if you do not have one, make sure and verify a couple of days in advance. This way there are no surprises.
3. Choose The Hairdo: Make a hair appointment to have your stylist help you figure out the hairdo for the wedding. This gives you a chance to not be stressed trying to make the decision the day of the wedding. Wedding Tip: Make sure and bring your veil with you to eliminate having to put it on yourself.
4. Pick The Poses: Make a list with your photographer of all the shots you want them to capture on your wedding day. This way they know what you want and don’t miss out on any photograph you want for the album. It is hectic on your wedding day so if they can order you all around to get the shots it will take the burden off your shoulders.
5. Get Your Nails Done: Make an appointment for the day before the wedding to get your nails done. This ensures enough time to dry without smudging and gives you a chance to sit down and relax for a couple hours. Pedicures are a great way to relax and most places have chairs for you to sit in and get a massage.
6. Choose Your Flowers: Meet with your florist to discuss the colors she will be including to match your theme or color scheme. This is the time you would give her the swatch of fabric to match the colors of the linens, decorations or dresses.
7. Finalize the Cake: Call the bakery to discuss the fine details of the cake. If you would like the color to match your wedding theme or colors, give them a piece of fabric with that color to match for making the decorative frosting.
8. Break In Your Shoes: Put your wedding shoes on while you are at home to wear them in a little and ensure comfort at the wedding. This way if you have any hot spots on your feet, you can put some mole skin on the strap to ensure it will not be bothering you at your wedding.
9. Get the Girls Together: Make sure you make a date with your bridesmaids and maid of honor to chat about the details. Give them a time and place to be so you can all get ready together. Wedding Tip: It is fun to get your hair done together too if you can make appointments at the same salon you are going to.
10. Coordinate With the Groom: Make sure you communicate the last minute details with your husband to be. Keep him aware of where you are getting ready and possibly get him a hotel for the day of the wedding to stay in with his groomsmen so that you don’t accidently cross paths. Then the men can get ready and go to the wedding before the girls arrive.

One of the most desired locations for a wedding is on the beach. It’s beautiful and the sound of the ocean creates a romantic setting for the exchange of vows. Then in the evening you get to enjoy a beautiful sunset. Natural beauty will awe your guests and allow you to save on the decorations. No need to go overboard, the scenery says it all!
This beautiful beach setting comes at a pretty high price. Due to the pristine location you will most likely have to go with a resort or established function business on the beach. These places are typically all inclusive and do not allow you to supply your own food, decorations or music.
While cost may not be an issue to you this is hard for most of us with a budget. On the other hand when you have a bottomless pocketbook the all inclusive is great. Not only does it save you the trouble of coordinating all the wedding necessities, but they clean up your mess!
Another plus of doing a resort style beach wedding is the accommodations. When you book the wedding most places give you a reduced price on a large number of rooms and allow you to hold them in advance. This allows the wedding party and guests to relax and make a vacation out of the stay if they are not from the area.
Now for those of us on a budget that love the water and beaches have other options. If you know people that live in towns or cities with beaches that you would consider, ask them if there are any town buildings you can rent out. In most places there are nice buildings near or around the water to rent for townies. Then your friend or relative could rent the venue for you.
In some towns or cities there are beaches that you can use with permission from the town clerk or city clerk. All you need to do is find the town hall or city building and ask for permission to use the beach for your wedding. They typically want an exact time and date so that they don’t allow someone to use it the same day and time as you. This allows for a more intimate setting.
Most cities and towns are not bothered by this as long as you don’t set up chairs or leave trash on the beach. With mutual respect between the public and the city there are many beautiful beaches to have your wedding ceremony on.
Now when it comes to the reception, this is when it gets tricky with a small budget. Some lakes and ocean beaches have parks with picnic tables and shelters you can reserve. This is a great way to save money on a venue if you want to remain on the water for the reception. Otherwise you could do the ceremony on the beach and drive to another location for the reception.
Both resort and public beach weddings are beautiful and romantic due to the back drop. If you can afford the all inclusive “great” but if you can’t do not be discouraged and try to find a nice public beach. No matter what happens, don not worry about everyone else. Just remember that they are coming to see the union between you and your fiancé not for an extravagant show.

Most men feel the pressure when choosing an engagement ring for the woman of their dreams. This is often due to the fact that the average man does not sit around and study diamond rings or learn what is important and what is not. It is a common misconception to just think about the size of the diamonds and color of the setting because you can end up with a not-so-pretty ring. As most men forget some of the important characteristics of a diamond ring, here is a bling bling buying 101 to help make your purchase.
The Five C’s
The five C’s are what most jewelers associate with when you are buying a diamond ring. They are as follows; color, cut, clarity, carat and cost. Each of these aspects of a diamond affects another. If the stone is larger in the same cut it will be more expensive but a stone might be smaller in a different cut and still be more expensive. Also you might have speckles of dirt in the diamond which decreases the clarity or the sparkle and makes it worth less.
Color
Diamonds come in array of different colors from clear to blue or pink. There are even canary diamonds which are yellow but more expensive than the yellow tinted clear diamonds. Most popular by demand are the clear diamonds that have no tint of color in them.
This color scale is marked from D,E,F as colorless to further letters in alphabet as color increases. As you continue in the alphabet, the more color a diamond has and typically it will cost less. The only exceptions are when you have rare diamonds that are colorful like yellow, pink or blue.
Cut
The two most sparkling cuts of diamonds are the brilliant and the radiant. These diamonds sparkle more due to the amount of laser cuts they do when cutting the diamond. Each crossing set of cuts, also known as a facet, allows the light to sparkle off of it a little more creating a more beautiful diamond.
The brilliant diamond is round and the radiant diamond is rectangular with soft corners. These cuts are recommended because if you are on a budget and can only afford a smaller diamond, you will still get a lot of sparkle for your money.
Clarity
The clarity of the diamond is determined on the amount of dirt spots or bubble looking spots in the stone. These marks are called inclusions and most are not visible to the naked eye. The more there are in the diamond and the larger they are, the less value is put on the diamond. This is one of the most important things to consider when looking at a diamond.
If there are multiple inclusions that are large, the diamond would be not as sparkling and that would decrease the value. Most people would get a large diamond if they could afford it, but a lot of larger diamonds have more inclusions than smaller ones. This make the larger diamonds with great clarity cost way out of your budget.
Carat
Carat is the measurement of size they use when evaluating diamonds. The carat is a weight measurement that equals about two-hundred milligrams. Diamonds are anywhere from 0.01 carat to 5 carats. The most common way to get a good sized diamond without paying too much is to get a .9 or .95 carat which is just under one carat. When shopping for a diamond you will see this difference and also see rings with total carat weight.
The total carat weight is the total of all the diamonds in any given ring. Make sure you look into that as the center stone may be smaller than anticipated due to side stones in the setting. If you want to be very careful, go to a diamond store that allows you to view each individual loose diamond prior to setting it for you. This allows you to verify the specs prior to purchasing.
Cost
Diamond rings can cost anywhere from one-hundred dollars to millions of dollars. Each of the four previous C’s come into hand when determining the cost of any diamond ring. The general rule of thumb is to spend three months pay on a diamond ring. I think that is a little steep and would stick to one month’s pay. You can always upgrade in the future or spend the money to put a down payment on your first home together or go on a vacation.
Make sure that you price rings out based on the color, cut, clarity and carat before making the purchase. Some stores have sales on diamonds which usually means they are overpriced to begin with. I would stay away from places like that. There are jewelry exchanges and places that do not have sales and guarantee their diamonds for a lifetime. These are the types of stores you want to look into.
Final Note
As a final note of advice when choosing a diamond ring is the warranty and wear and tear policy of the store. It is more desirable to go with a company that will polish or re-dip it in white gold at no extra cost throughout the years as rings wear. Also if your diamond falls out, make sure they will replace it at equal color, cut, clarity and carat at no charge. This way you do not have to worry about that expense yourself. Just make sure you bring your ring in every six months so the warranty stays true!

Advertising can be an easy way to break into the internet but there are many downsides to it. Unless you are running a community based site, have a site offering very unique content, a valuable service or product the traffic usually only comes as long as your paying for it. Of course ad campaigns can also be very expensive to run and maintain so you need to be sure your squeezing everything you can out of it. You should only proceed with a ad campaign if you are positive your site is the best it can be, otherwise you may just be pouring money away. There are thousands of companies on the internet who offer to provide you with ad campaigns, many of which never deliver, do not let any of these points put you off advertising.
If you want quality traffic with affordable prices you are recommended to stick with the major search engines and their partners. Google Adwords, Overture and MSN are all well respected companies which will deliver you the best traffic. All of the forementioned websites use pay per click systems which can be perfect as they drive traffic with keywords you specify directly at your site, these advertisers are all interlinked with the main search engines so you should expect to get the most widespread sections of the population from them. Because they have the traffic numbers to support ad campaigns there can sometimes be bidding wars on popular keywords, I advise you to stay away from popular keywords and do your research. Overture provides a free Keyword Selector Tool which can help you find out how much traffic similiar keywords recieve each month, these are usually a lot cheaper and still provide the same high quality traffic.
As I mentioned before advertising wont necessarily mean a good flow of traffic after you stop paying, other routes of advertising can mean you get listed in a search engines immediately for a set fee. Yahoo offers the ability to pay for a index within their search engine or directory, although your site still needs to abide by the same rules as other sites it gives you the opportunity to get indexed immediately within the search engine, a more subtle way of advertising power. Alternatively you can find quality sites that are related to yours on Sitepoint.com and WebHostingTalk.com who may be willing to put a one way link up for a nominal fee.
You may find websites on the internet offering “banner exchanges”, “free traffic” and other such promises, I wouldent look at them twice unless you want to lose out. The traffic they send you is of the worst quality, many of these websites operate bots, own networks of link farms and even pay people to visit your site. This of course means that no one being referred from these sites are actually interested in your content or services, in worst case scenarios you may even end up being banned from search engines due to these malicious sites. Even if they are reputable companies it is hard to judge whether they will work for you, many of the smaller search engine companies simply do not get the traffic to give you value for money.

The reasons that custom military rings are important:
Each and every day, men and women in the military protect us, and protect our freedom, through their selfless sacrifice. We honor and respect them for their service in the armed forces and for their dedication. And they are proud of their efforts and the traditions of
the military.
We cannot think of a better way for them to show their pride than a custom military ring that is a visual symbol of their service. We cannot think of a better way for us to honor them than with a custom military ring that reflects their strength of character and their
commitment to protect us all. In short, a custom military ring is a uniquely appropriate way to reflect a person’s service in the armed forces, either past or present.
Custom military rings can use any one of three basic types of designs:
1. The first type of design is a somewhat ornate ring that is very similar to a school ring or class ring. These types of custom military rings usually have a large semi-precious gem, crystal or colored stone set in the center. They also have several different designs engraved partway down the sides of the band on each side of the central stone.
2. The second basic design that is used is a more streamlined, velegant ring with flowing, “clean” lines. This type of custom military ring sometimes consists solely of engraved precious metal at the top of the ring, but other times these rings are set with a
central semi-precious gem, crystal or other stone. The sides of the band of this type of ring are usually not decorated, and the ring has a strong, masculine appearance.
3. The third type of basic design for a custom military ring is a signet ring or seal ring that utilizes military coats of arms or insignia as the “seal” at the top of the ring. There is no center stone with this design.
Customization Options for custom military rings:
Any of these three basic designs can be customized by using one of the specific, highly symbolic heraldic-type crests, shields, coats-of-arms or insignia that are so frequently used in the military. A custom military ring can be designed to reflect a person’s service in a specific division, regiment, battalion, fleet, or other military or naval unit. Custom military rings can also be designed to show that a person served in the armed forces during a particular war or a particular series of battles: World War 2 rings, Korean War rings, Vietnam War rings and Operation Desert Storm rings are all examples of
military rings that have been customized in this way. Still other types of custom military rings incorporate the design of a specific combat medal or badge, or a specific rank insignia, into their design. Custom military rings even exist for ex-Prisoners of War.
A military ring can also be customized by engraving on the band the initials or name of the person who will be wearing it. This type of personalization further customizes a military ring and makes it doubly meaningful.
Custom military rings are stunning pieces of jewelry:
Custom military rings are usually made of precious metals such as gold, silver or platinum, and high-quality pieces have intricate detail. If a military crest, coat of arms or other heraldic device has been enhanced by being enameled, or if the center of the ring is
inset with a colored gemstone, a custom military ring is quite striking.
Our soldiers and sailors are proud and faithful servants, always there when we need them. Each and every one of them would be proud to wear a deeply symbolic, visually stunning custom military ring.

What is your impression of networking? To many, it’s an insincere trade of favors or, at best, an elegant way of using people to get what you want. I actually asked this question of a group of PhD students at a Top 5 engineering school and one student near the front asked, “You mean, with other people?”
Conversely, what’s your impression of relationships? When talking about relationships, most use characteristics such as trust, depth, and vested interest. So, if relationships have been around since the Ice Ages and we all know what they are, why is it that we’re becoming increasingly disconnected? In many ways, we’re losing our ability to touch people!
Robert Putnam, in his bestseller Bowling Alone, clearly describes how our health, our democracy, and yes, even our happiness, depend on a certain amount of social capital. Yet for many, when it’s easier to send someone a voicemail who works three offices down the hall from you instead of walking over for a conversation, or to send them a Crackberry text message instead of picking up the phone and calling them, is there really any question about the dramatic erosion of our sense of community? Every day, we pass people in the hallways wearing company badges (so we know they work there), but we have no idea who they are! When someone transfers, we’ll send out a memo that says, “Bob has joined our team,” but make no mention of his spouse and young children who just moved across the country, don’t know a soul here, and are struggling to fit in. Here’s an idea – as the department manager or division executive, why don’t you have Bob and Mary (that’s her name from the personnel file by the way) over to your home with a group of his peers and their spouses for them to all get to know each other. Here’s a “Dadism” for you – people deal with people they know, like and trust!
As a leader, if you genuinely believe that your human capital is your most valuable asset and a clear differentiator in the marketplace, you must search for, assess, on-board, train, develop, coach, and constantly align that talent for what the organization’s needs today, as well as anticipating its future requirements. And when things don’t work out, try to outplace that talent with the least amount of disruption to the business. Ask yourself, what part of this formula couldn’t benefit from stronger relationships? If we all know the value of relationships, why do so few of us really practice the fundamentals daily?
You have an opportunity to build relationships every minute of everyday. Yet, most people go through each day with their head buried in checklists and action items. Building and nurturing relationships must become the dye in the fabric, not the patch. Networking functions are patches; drive-by-greetings are patches; insincere getting and giving business cards are patches. Let me save you the time – the Yellow Pages serve the same purpose. Relationships should be the dye in the fabric. They should permeate through who you are and the culture of the team you’re building.
Helpful tools are social networking technologies such as LinkedIn, ZoomInfo and Spoke, which automate the mundane and resource intensive tasks of data entry, analysis, search and recommendations – but they should never replace the fundamental value of trusted, value-based introductions. Users of these tools should also never forget that there are three fundamental types of networkers: Givers (God bless Mother Theresa), who give altruistically; Takers (we’ve all known some), who only call or email when they want something; and Investors, who see their personal, functional and strategic relationships as their most valuable asset and consistently aim at more effectively identifying, building, nurturing and leveraging those investments for a quantifiable return on those relationships.
Which one are you? Giver, taker or investor? If I were to ask three of your colleagues, customers, executives or even friends, which one would they say you are?
Your personal and professional success depends on the diversity and quality of your relationships with others, yet most of us don’t spend enough time building, nurturing and quantifying the key relationships we need to achieve success. That’s where Relationship Economics® comes into play. Relationship Economics isn’t about networking; it’s about learning how to invest in people for an extraordinary return. It’s about understanding Relationship Currency®, accumulating Reputation Capital® and building Professional Net Worth®. It’s about learning the art and science of relationships to get things done in a systematic, disciplined manner.
So, I ask you again, what’s the strategic value of your business relationships?

Are you LinkedIn®? Do you Spoke®, Ryze®, Jigsaw® or ZoomInfo®? In 2008, will you get a Second Life®?
If these social networking concepts are not in your radar, you are ignoring a dynamic trend that could have a profound impact on key areas of your business such as profitable revenue growth, talent acquisition and development, and operational efficiency and effectiveness.
Wikipedia defines a social network service as one that focuses on the building and verifying of online social networks for communities of people who share interests and activities. The concept of Social Network Analysis (SNA) – the intersection of several key disciplines including sociology, anthropology, psychology, organizational design and graph theory – has existed in academic circles since the 1930s and 1940s. Although interesting, the study of patterns in human interaction has unfortunately been confined to academia with little visibility or application to corporate leaders and their efforts in not only strategy formulation, but strategy execution as well.
In many leadership circles and boardrooms, there is seldom a shortage of organizational mission, vision, strategy, values or beliefs. (What I often refer to as “wall art.”) But where it consistently breaks down is when dealing with concepts such as the strategic relationship dashboard, strategic relationship initiatives, and personal relationship development action plans – all of which lead to strategic relationship outcomes.
Strategic Relationship Planning is driven by a core set of questions around critical company business goals including the identification of the most relevant and strategic relationships we need, critical relationships we already posses within and external to our corporation today, and a plan as to how to systematically, intentionally, and strategically add value to the social network we currently have to create leverage with the relationships we need.
This dynamic Favor Economy is the core motivator of the 17 million users in over 150 industries that have converged on a single online platform that didn’t exist until only a few years ago.
Although many leaders have heard of LinkedIn, there are still many who are either under the impression that it is a fad that will simply go away or that it has little bearing on them personally or professionally. What they neglect to realize is that 499 of the Fortune 500 companies have director-level profiles and higher on LinkedIn. Even Barack Obama recently teamed up with LinkedIn to reach entrepreneurs, small business owners and executives, asking them very pointed questions regarding their needs from the next U.S. president.
So, what can an executive learn from LinkedIn? Here are the Top 5 Lessons:
1.The exponential value of a highly decentralized organization. Although your corporate organizational chart may control chaos and illustrate command and control, many organizations are attempting to control a dynamic 21st century workforce with a WWII model. By extending the organization’s reach beyond the traditional four walls, you exponentially extend and expand the organization’s learning and growth elasticity.
2.Corporate Relationship Deficit Disorder. By design, traditional organizational charts tend to create geographic, functional, and project-based silos that are not conducive to collaboration, communication and shared best practices. One thing that SNA has consistently proven is that knowledge management is not a system but a process.
3.Adaptive Innovation. An organization’s most valuable talent simply cannot be creative in isolation. The ability to leverage highly communal experiences such as Second Life, particularly with geographically dispersed teams, nurtures the necessary DNA for a team or organization to adapt its business model to a constantly evolving market.
4.Flight Risk. Stifle the creativity of the 20, 30 and now even the 40-year olds, and your most valuable talent will leave in the next 12 months. As reciprocal loyalty continues to decline, leaders must find ways to align the personal objectives of key individuals with those of the organization to get things done.
5.Social networks as accelerants of your brand equity. Beyond the measurement analysis of your hard assets, the next evolution is one of leveraging the corporation’s soft assets. Social networks, by definition, encompass the three most critical examples of such soft assets: 1) People, continuously proving to be any organization’s sustainable differentiator, 2) Relationships, as an individual, team or organization’s most valuable asset across an ongoing trust continuum, and 3) Brand, that which time after time creates sustainable loyalty and continued investment in any organization from employees, suppliers, customers and shareholders.
As a leader, you can pretend that MySpace and Facebook are for “kids,” LinkedIn and Second Life are simply “fads,” and that the status quo will suffice, or you can embrace social networking as a strategic, intentional, and thus quantifiable asset in driving profitable revenue growth, winning the global war on talent, and the constant evolution and integration of highly optimized global processes.
So I ask you again – what is your social networking strategy?

Investing in Bankruptcies
Investing in bankruptcies can be a big money maker for the real estate investor. Investing in bankruptcies can result in a substantial income when you choose the right property. There are several laws that can change from area to area that govern bankruptcies. This means that there are risks involved to the investor, and being aware of these risks can help your investing tremendously.
A large risk that you face with bankruptcies is that the owner can come back and lay claim to their property. Some states even have laws stating the bankruptcies are not complete for a certain amount of time. You will have to determine if your region has this type of law protecting the homeowners when they file bankruptcy. If this is the case you may want to make sure the home is vacant before making an offer on the property. You do not want to put your money into something only to lose it when the homeowners get back on their feet.
When the owner defaults on the mortgage a bankruptcy order is then put in place. The bank will start the proceedings necessary to regain possession of the property. These bankruptcy properties are usually listed in the local paper under the sheriff’s sale heading. The opening bid usually start at approximately two thirds of the appraised value of the home. The highest bidder is awarded the property. Investing in bankruptcies can greatly increase an investor’s portfolio.
Having a plan of action when you are investing in bankruptcies is a crucial part. The first thing you must do is determine what your plans for the property are. Is it going to be a rental property or do you plan to flip the house? Determining what you want to do with your properties beforehand is important so that you know what area to look in, and how you can make a profit from your new property.
Choosing the bankruptcies carefully is a high priority. You do not want to find bankruptcies which will be depreciating, instead look for high growth potential that will increase in value. Just because the price seems to be right does not mean the property is the one for you. Determine what the average selling time was of the houses which have been sold. This will give you a good indication as to what you can get for the property you are looking at.
When investing in bankruptcies you should always look at the bottom line. If you can not make a 10% or greater return on the investment then it is not a good property to purchase. You must know your market. Looking at past sales in the area is key. Determining whether the area is growing or declining is an important factor in the bankruptcy. Knowing how long each house that sold stayed on the market is also significant. You may find bankruptcies which have been on the market for six months or more, this is a good indication that it is probably a bad investment. With all the other investors out there, if one of them did not want it, you probably do not want it either.
Once you become more familiar with investing in bankruptcies you will learn what to buy and what to avoid. You will understand which areas are good investments and which ones are not worth your time. You will also be able to understand more of the real estate market and the lending red tape. This will help when you are investing in bankruptcies.

Are you someone who wants to own a home someday? Who does not? But what is holding you back? For most of us the answer is finance. If you have a bad credit record, it is unlikely that you will get a house loan to buy your dream house.
For most of us the only way to start living in our dream house depends on factors such as, having good credit, making a large down payment, and going through a landlord, but all that is history now with the introductions of the rent to own home facility. Now as a buyer you can lease the home of your choice for a few years before taking the big leap and finally buying the piece of real estate.
Both buyers and sellers alike can benefit from a rent to own transaction. Nowadays it is really hard to find a buyer who has all the factors running in his or her favor, such as having good credit, or the ability to make a large down payment, but the rent to own home makes it easier for people with fewer resources to get a chance to buy their dream homes.
Buyers these days prefer to go for the rent to own homes because of certain added advantages provided by this kind of a transaction. Firstly, this type of a transaction helps the buyer get a good first hand experience regarding the house, because you know the price of the house only when you start living in it. Minor problems that are not visible from the outside, for example leaking pipelines, paint falling off etc. become more imminent when it prospective buyers start living n the house.
Secondly, for the first time real estate investor it is always a good idea not to buy a property with cash through an outright sale, rather it will be a good idea to lease it first and then buy it.
Thirdly, people who have bad credit can buy their dream homes by this process as they can repair their credits during the lease period and build up equity. Besides getting a rent to own home is almost the same as leasing to own a car where the buyer leases the car to find out more about the car and whether it meets his requirements or not, and finally he buys the car if it meets the standards.
For the sellers the rent to own home facility brings in more customers than the outright sales. There are many homeowners who have listed their properties but there is a significant lack of prospective buyers in the cash buying market, most of the investors nowadays prefer to buy houses through their rent to own homes.
Most of the sellers can benefit from the fact that most of the times the deal does not go through and they might end up with the entire rent amount to their discretion as the rent credit is considered non refundable. Besides this lease to own home feature allows the sellers to derive the benefits of the houses a bit more before actually selling it off to someone else.

When a homeowner becomes delinquent on their mortgage payments the lender begins the lengthy foreclosure process. If no attempts are made to reconcile the debt with the lender, then the property is auctioned off at the public courthouse. A single foreclosed property purchased at an auction can easily earn an investor a years worth of investment income. Right now is perhaps the best time in the history of real estate to invest in foreclosures with a record number of foreclosures reported last year. There are plenty of deals available to the general public but the trick is knowing how to find them
Despite what infomercials on television might tell you, investing in foreclosed homes is not as easy as just walking over to the courthouse. There is a lot of homework that needs to be done before a foreclosed home is purchased at auction. The key to successful investing, especially in real estate, is research. What you know can make all of the difference. If you want to be successful with foreclosures you have to be willing to spend some time doing some research
The internet has made performing research of any kind very easy. While researching a foreclosure online you can easily come across all kinds of valuable information. If you are going to be bidding on a property you need to know what the market value of the home is, and there are a number of free online services that allow you to research the market value of a house for free. However, in order to obtain the most reliable data on market values you will need to join a real estate membership site. A membership site will allow you to obtain up-to-date real estate information and foreclosures at a nominal fee.
Foreclosures have a tendency to be in a state of disrepair by the time they reach the auction block. Only a tiny fraction of foreclosed homes that reach the auction block are in move in condition. This means you need to be prepared to estimate renovation costs to the foreclosed property you are looking at. Unfortunately, many states prohibit you to enter a foreclosed home until after the auction is over. If you live in such a state you should consider speaking with a realtor in your area. Chances are a realtor will know someone who was involved in the foreclosure.
With a little research and patience you can easily find foreclosure deals at auction. But if you really want to make a profit with foreclosures you should consider investing in a foreclosure list service. Such a service will provide you with foreclosure deals as they come available and before they reach the auction block. The earlier you buy the property the better.

Bank foreclosure real estate, also referred to as REOs (Real Estate Owned), is foreclosed real estate that is owned by the bank due to an unsuccessful foreclosure auction. There are several reasons the home may have not sold at the auction. The most common reason is negative equity- the bank foreclosure real estate is worth less than the amount owed to the bank. Of course, the bank seeks to receive the outstanding balance of the original loan; therefore, the minimum bid for the bank foreclosure real estate is usually the amount of the outstanding balance of the original loan, plus interest and any additional fees. No smart investor or buyer will consider bidding on such a property.
Nevertheless, an unsuccessful sale will not stop the bank from trying to make an attempt to get the bank foreclosure real estate sold. The bank will consider removing some or all liens and fees on the bank foreclosure real estate in order to get it on the real estate market and resell it to the public. The resell process may be retrying an auction or working through a Realtor.
This is a hot market for real estate investors. Real Estate investors take an eager interest in bank foreclosure real estate property. The market of foreclosed homes may be large; but, not always suitable for some investors. The foreclosed property may not meet some important needs. Nowadays home buyers and investors alike are scrambling through the market of bank foreclosure real estate looking for better deals. Though, most bank foreclosure real estate property is in poor condition, the low sale price of the home highly compensates for the property poor condition.
Investing in bank foreclosure real estate property offers a great return for investors. Bank foreclosure real estate by far offers greater deals than typical foreclosed homes. As an investor you must consider all your options. Make sure you get the bank foreclosure real estate property at the best price. Hopefully, the bank foreclosure real estate that an investor chooses to invest in will give the investor rewards; such as a larger return in profit, either through renting the home out or through selling the home.
There are several ways to search for bank foreclosure real estate property. You can search the Internet, magazines, and newspaper listings. The Internet can lead you to thousands maybe millions of connections. Here you can view listing by state, banks, county, and much more.
You should also invest time in finding a good real estate agent. If they know what you are looking for, they can save you a lot of time and work. They can also help you determine the true market value of the home you are considering investing in.

You are getting yourself in shape, you have picked the perfect swimwear and have yourself looking great with a fake tan. Now what about protecting probably one of the most important parts of your body? Your Eyes.
We are all aware and have read numerous articles about the damage that the sun can do to our skin unless we protect it properly. Can we say the same about our eyes? Just how many articles have we read about the dangers of sun damage to our eyes? How many of us really put any thought into protecting our eyes? Do we really realise how important it is to have a good pair of sunglasses?
There are two types of UV radiation. UV-A which penetrates deep into the eye and UV-B that can damage the cornea and lens. If you do not protect your eyes properly, you are running the real risk of long term eye damage.
Sunglasses are seen by many of us as a fashion accessory and not as a very important way to look after our eyes. Which is why it is so important to think very carefully about which pair of sunglasses we should buy.
Here are a few tips to in order to buy the correct and safe pair of sunglasses:
- When buying sunglasses look for a minimum of UV400 marked on the lenses.
- Make sure they are CE compliant. This means that they have passed the approved safety standards and are effective in reducing harmful UV rays.
- Avoid lenses which have yellow, pink or blue tints as they will not fully protect your eyes. Go for lenses which have a brown, grey or green tint.
- Invest in a good pair of quality sunglasses. Ones that have a good UV filters that can block up to 99-100% of UV radiation.
Whether you have perfect vision or wear glasses. Make sure you invest in a good pair of sunglasses today and look after your eyes this summer.
If you have found this article useful you may like to have a look at the other articles I have writen on how to get the complete summer look safely. From how to choose the right swimwear to getting in shape, on my site http://www.dietreviewzone.com

In 2006, Virgin Blue, Australia’s number two airline after Qantas, agreed to buy nine Boeing 737-800 jets valued at $US634.5 million. The Brisbane based company has a programme to expands its fleet of younger, more fuel-efficient aircraft.
Virgin Blue’s fuel costs account for over 23% of its gross revenue. It wants newer, more fuel efficient aircraft to lower costs.
By decreasing the variety of aircraft in its fleet, Virgin Blue will also reduce maintenance costs due to economies of scale in engineering technical skills requirements and spare parts procurement.
The company said it ordered the next generation 737 because it is a reliable and cost-efficient aircraft, which is essential in their competitive low-cost market.
In introduction of QANTAS’s low cost carrier Jetstar, has further increased pressure on reducing costs.
Like the Boeing 737-600 and Boeing 737-700, the 800 features many improvements including more efficient CFM56-7B turbofan engines. Over 4,000 CFM56-7B engines are in service as part of the most popular engine/aircraft team in commercial aviation.
The CFM56-7B turbofan, with it’s swept fan and advanced compressor is among the most modern, efficient and reliable turbofans ever. More than 500 airlines fly CFM56-7B-powered 737s and, since entering service in the mid-90s, they have accumlated over 50 Million flight hours.
All CFM56-7B engines delivered from mid 2007 were compliant with future Committee on Aviation Environmental Protection (CAEP), environmental requirements.
The CFM56-7B also powers the Boeing/GE BBJ (Boeing Business Jet) and 737 military variants including transports special mission aircraft.
Another improvement in the 737-800 is the new wing with greater thickness, span and wing area, larger tail surfaces and a new flightdeck.
The flightdeck has six flat panel LCDs which can present information as on the 777. A heads-up-display (HUD) is optional.
Virgin Blue’s aircraft feature distinctive winglets. These winglets stand approximately 2.4 metres (8 feet), tall and are installed at the wing tips. They help with reduced fuel burn (by reducing vortex drag), reduced engine wear, and producing less noise on takeoff.
Virgin Blue’s Boeing 737 800s feature three toilets, six premium economy seats with extra legroom and red leather upholstery and eight exits.
Recently the company fitted some of its 737-800 jets with video-on-demand systems. Passengers now have the option to view staellite feeds of 24 different pay television channels for a small $4.90 charge that they pay by swiping a credit card through the card reader that is installed next to the LCD screen.
Until its launch on September 5, 1994 the 737-800 was known as the 737-400X Stretch. Compared with the 400 the 800 is 3.02m (9ft 9in) longer, taking typical two class seating from 146 to 162, while range is significantly increased. The Boeing 737-800 has sold strongly since its launch, and early 2002 was the highest selling Next Generation model. First flight was on July 31 1997, first delivery (to Hapag Lloyd) was in April 1998.
The largest single order for the 800 series has come from the Irish budget carrier, Ryanair. After 28 had already been ordered earlier, a firm order for 100 aircraft was made in January 2002, with an option of another 50, to be delivered over the next 8 years. Ryanair will use the aircraft in a single class configuration, to seat 189 passengers.

Mitral valve repair is a cardiac surgery procedure to treat mitral valve stenosis (narrowing) or regurgitation (leakage). The mitral valve is between the heart’s left atrium and left ventricle. The mitral valve has two flaps, or cusps. Blood after picking the oxygen from the lungs flows through the pulmonary veins, to the left atrium of the heart. Once the left atrium gets filled with blood, the mitral valve opens to allow blood to flow from the left atrium into the left ventricle. It then closes in order to keep blood from flowing back into the left atrium or lungs when the ventricle contracts (squeezes) to push blood out to the body.
Studies show that today 5-10 % of the world’s population suffers from Mitral valve Prolapse requiring surgery and 9 per 10,000/year die of it.
You can’t usually prevent mitral valve prolapse, but you can prevent certain complications.
In view of the same a Mitral repair training camp was held at the “Vien Tim”(Heart center of the Ho Chi Minh City between 14 to 20th of April 2008. Patients had flocked from Vietnam,Cambodia and Laos. Renowned Cardiac surgeons from Thailand , China and India participated in the camp.
“25 patients of rheumatic mitral regurgitation were selected and operated with no mortality and 100% success of repair(no replacements)” says Dr. Vivek Jawali ( Chief Cardiothorasic Surgeon at Wockhardt Hospital Group, India) one of the operating surgeon at the camp.
Dr. Vivek Jawali is the pioneer of minimally invasive cardiac surgery in India. He has performed India’s first minimally invasive bypass surgery in 1994 and has since been actively pioneering it in India. In 2000, he has performed India’s first awake bypass surgery on a fully conscious patient without general anaesthesia or ventilator using the technique of continuous high epidural analgesia. In the same year , he performed the world’s first awake open heart surgery , which involved a valve replacement with a triple bypass on a 74 year patient. ( Please check his detail profile on http://www.wockhardthospitals.net/online-doctors/dr_vivek_jawali.asp )

So you’ve heard that you can use your computer to make cheap long-distance calls over the Internet. Maybe you’ve even tried it. Chances are though that if you’ve attempted VoIP calls over a dial-up connection, you’ve experienced intermittent quality, ‘call drop-outs’ and annoying speech transmission delays. The good news is that there are some quick, easy steps that you can take to dramatically improve the quality of your VoIP calls over dial-up connections.
There’s a lot of hype these days surrounding Internet-based voice communications (VoIP) replacing traditional telephone service. Most of this revolves around companies such as Vonage who coin themselves as the ‘Broadband Phone Company’. So what about those of us who don’t have a broadband connection? Just because you don’t have high speed Internet, doesn’t mean that you can’t save a fortune by using VoIP for your long-distance calls. Whilst a broadband connection will usually result in more consistent VoIP call quality, comparable results can be achieved using a dial-up connection provided some simple guidelines are followed.
Shop Around
Not all VoIP service providers support dial-up users. Companies such as Vonage bill themselves as alternatives to traditional telephone service and shy away from the dial-up community (who are tied to those ‘traditional’ networks to access the Internet). Furthermore, some service providers only support dial-up above a certain speed (e.g., 56Kbp). Two companies whose VoIP softphone applications work well over low speed connections include Callserve and Go2Call.
‘Free-up’ your System Resources
In order to ensure the highest call quality, close programs that are running in the ‘background’. For Windows users, these applications can be seen in the taskbar at the bottom right of your screen. ‘Right-click’ the icons and close those programs that aren’t critical to system security (e.g., don’t close anti-virus software, firewall applications and the like).
If you’re using Windows XP with user switching enabled, log off all users except the one that will be used to make the call. This will prevent the other user identities from running software and/or using your bandwidth while you’re making calls.
‘Free Up’ your Internet Connection
Given the limited data capacity of dial-up connections, it’s important that you devote as much of your bandwidth as possible to the VoIP softphone application. To achieve maximum call quality, don’t do anything that uses your bandwidth whilst making calls. This includes instant messaging, checking email, using a webcam, browsing the internet, downloading, etc. In Windows, you can look at the two little computers in the bottom right of your taskbar to see whether your connection is being used prior to calling (the little computers illuminate when data is being uploaded and/or downloaded).
Scan your System for Viruses, Spyware, Adware and Malware
Some of these malicious programs can hijack your browser, tie up your internet connection and slow down your system (not to mention seriously invade your privacy!). I recommend Adware for free scanning and removal of Spyware/Adware. Once you’ve checked and cleansed your system of these nasty programs, your virus definition files should be updated to minimize the chances of re-infection.
Use a Headset with an Integrated Boom Microphone
Last but not least, using a headset with a boom microphone should eliminate those annoying voice echoes often associated with PC to phone calls. Echoes are caused by your microphone detecting the voice coming from your computer speakers and re-transmitting that voice signal back to the person you’re talking to. By using a headset, the voice signals are limited in volume (due to the headset being directly adjacent to your ears) and thus the chances of your microphone ‘re-transmitting’ those voice signals is greatly reduced.
So there you have it. A lack of high speed Internet needn’t mean a lack of PC to phone VoIP capability.

Viruses, Bugs, Worms, Dataminers, Spybots, and Trojan horses. The Internet is a veritable minefield of things that can invade your PC and affect its Security and Performance.
You can do something about it and you can do it FREE, using some or all of the following programs and tips.
Anti-Virus protection.
One of the best Free programs for this is AntiVirus Personal Edition Anti-Virus software. Install on your PC and leave it running to block any incoming bugs or viruses! It can also be used to scan your system for any previous invasions, but be patient, this takes about 15 minutes to complete. Worth running periodically, to check all is ok.
FireWalls and Broadband.
If you are on Broadband, consider using Firewall software. Most good ISP’s now supply free. (eg AOL).
Tip – DON’T leave your PC connected to the Internet when you are not using it! Reduce the chance of something loading while you are not monitoring things !
SpyBot finders and Ad blockers.
Various programs available on the web, both ‘Paid’ and ‘Free’. You can get good results from using 2 Free packages that are available. These are ‘SpyBot Search & Destroy’ and ‘Ad-Aware’. Downloads available at
Suspect you have a virus ?
If you think you already have a virus, a good Free tool for checking and killing them is McAfee Stinger.
Some General Tips
Beware ‘Boys Toys’ and ‘Freebies’! Think, if someone wants to spread a bug, get tracking software onto your PC etc, the best place for them to do it is places where you go to get ‘freebies’ to download! The above sites are normally ‘ad free’, but be aware that if you download porn, free music, free games, free software, there is often a ‘price’ to pay. Always use the above programs after visiting ANY of these sorts of sites!

It’s been with us since 1993, it’s gotten more intrusive, more complicated.
It’s created a whole ecosystem, so to speak.
A person sits somewhere, writing a new virus, a new application of Spyware. It is put onto the Internet and Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware vendors begin to develop definitions to combat it, maybe even to stop it permanently. These fixes are incorporated into the new versions of the software they sell, or distribute as freeware.
Existing companies, businesses, and users struggle to keep up with what to use, overwhelmed, their lifeline to the Internet depends on it. In this portion of the ecosystem you have;
The end user. YOU!
Your Internet Provider, Hosting Service, ect.
The businesses on the Internet, all of em.
The existing companies and vendors providing the Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware Programs.
Adding to this ecosystem, new companies start up to get into the rapidly exploding business, marketing their own software.
More additions occur as new businesses start up to sell the software the companies have produced.
New and old online users buy upgraded and new software to try and protect their personal information from being stolen. Interlaced into all the above is the knowledge required to know how to protect ourselves with the basics. A hardware or software Firewall, Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware.
Whew! Ok, rest.
Point to ponder while resting….recent eWeek.com tests reveal that some Vendors are failing to provide solutions when it comes to finding and permanently destroying Viruses and Spyware.
Rested? Then let’s look at it from another angle shall we?
Without the person somewhere in the world writing the virus or Spyware, there would be no need for the person that is writing the program to combat it. There would be no need for the company that employs the person writing the programs to combat the virus or Spyware. No need for the Businesses that sell the programs the company markets.
Still with me? Good. And finally,
No need for the user, you, to protect yourself.
I hope this lil exercise has proved informative.
Take Care.

Almost all of us feel a strong urge to acquire collectibles.
After finding a reliable source of essentials like food, water and
clothing, after securing a mate and adequate shelter, mankind turns to
satisfying less essential, but nevertheless important, goals. One of those goals is
the acquisition of material goods.
Almost all of us feel a strong urge to surround ourselves with tangible items that are interesting, beautiful, rare or otherwise appealing – in other words, objects that are collectibles. It’s almost as if it’s part of our nature.
Collectibles are …
Just about any type of object you could possibly imagine, including some that you would never think of as being collectible. Without a doubt, some of the items that intrigue you would not interest other people that you know. After all, “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” But as we all know, something, somehow, somewhere, appeals to every one of us, and those things can form the basis of a large or small collection.
Items that relate to or somehow touch upon a topic that interests or appeals to people are, to those people, collectible. Put 100 people into a room, and because everyone’s interests are so different, there probably won’t be much duplication in what they collect. Collectors seek thousands of different types of items, everything from dolls to barbed wire, rare first-edition books to vinyl records, vintage clothing to movie memorabilia,
matchbook covers to vintage postcards. Just pick whatever type of object or topic interests you.
The thrill of the hunt.
Many people are willing and even eager to expend a great deal of time, money and/or energy in order to obtain collectibles and collectible memorabilia, simply because the items relate to a favorite subject or theme. Some collectibles are very valuable, but others are inexpensive or evenfree.
The main reason that most collectors seek out and acquire collectibles isn’t because they are valuable (although some are) – it’s because to the collector, collectibles and their subject are fascinating. The advent of the internet and online shopping has made the acquisition of collectibles even more exciting than in the past, expanding the scope of the hunt by opening up the entire world as a place to look for “that certain something.”
Thousands upon thousands of items are collectible today. And many other items, including some that seem mundane and ordinary today, will become collectibles
in the future. Collectors are very passionate – and very diligent – about their collections. And they are always “on the hunt” for collectibles that relate to their topic.
Sometimes a collector must spend quite a bit of money in order to add a very hard-to-find item to his or her collection. Other collectibles are relatively inexpensive, and obtaining these types of pieces may require more time and effort than money. But collectors happily invest their time, trying to find these types of collectibles, even though they may have very little monetary value. A collector will go to great lengths to track down and obtain an inexpensive
piece that fills an important place in his or her collection. And jump for joy when that important, but inexpensive, collectible is finally located. For a collector, the “thrill of the hunt,” and finally finding an elusive collectible, is an extremely satisfying feeling.

Most Internet users recognize the need of protecting their computers against viruses, as the vast majority of us sooner or later become painfully aware of these nasty little programs when they shut down our PC, spam our mailbox or delete our files.
Viruses are, however, not the only malicious software programs out there. The newest addition to the evil software family is the so called Spyware and a good anti-virus program or firewall is not enough to safeguard against these clever programs.
Spyware are known by many names such as adware, trojans, malware, browser hijackers etc. The thing they all have in common is that they will transmit your personal information to companies and individuals who have an interest in knowing about your surfing habits, online purchases, credit worthiness, interests, web searches, chats, birth date and even your credit card number. The list goes on and on, since Spyware are constructed by promotional companies who need to know as much as possible about the online consumers to target them effectively. By ewes dropping on you online, these companies hope to be more successful when sending out promotional materials.
Spyware usually enter your PC by piggybacking on other software downloads. Every time you use downloaded or otherwise shared files, including Freeware, Shareware or p2p sharing programs, you stand the risk of unknowingly infecting your computer with Spyware. Even confirmed virus free music files, films and computer programs can have Spyware stowaways. Once inside your computer, they will hide, monitor all your actions and promptly start telling your secrets to anyone willing to listen.
Contrary to most viruses the Spyware actually make an effort not to be observed. Since they won’t cause obvious harm such as deleting important files or shutting down your computer, they can thrive in your PC for years without you noticing, sending out massive amounts of information about all your online habits.
At a first glance, you might find this annoying but essentially harmless. Why not let the companies send me promotional material about things I am actually interested in? Spyware is however far from harmless, since the infiltration by Spyware not only let the companies know about your latest online search, but also much more private matters such as credit card details, online purchases of medicine and your private e-mail correspondence with family, friends and business partners.
There are even examples of how this massive gathering of personal information has led to an overall loss of privacy and stolen identities. In the computerized world of today it is not hard to imagine the amount of damage and personal suffering the fraudulent use of a persons’ identity can cause.
It is obvious to anyone that we must start combating the Spyware programs, but the best way of doing this is not to panic and pull the plug on your PC, never go online again and keep five feet away from all Freeware. There is a much better solution: Support Cave.

Working from home has become more and more popular and there are businesses starting up everywhere.
A lot of people are getting tired of waking up early only to realize that they have to make a long commute to a job they hate, working for a person or a company they do not want to work for.
There are so many great benefits to working from home, you can wake up whenever you want or need to and there is basically no commuting, all you do is walk to your home office.
There are a few things to keep in mind however when working from home.
You need to take all of your aspects of your home business seriously.
The home business you are involved in should be something you truly love and are dedicated to doing.
If it is something you are truly interested in, taking it seriously and the hard work it takes to make the business successful should not be a problem.
If it is something you are not passionate about, it could get easy to get lazy and slack off and make it harder for your business to succeed.
Doing some research and exploration can be a good thing for a home business as well. Since you are on your own, you have nobody telling you to do it one way or another.
Why not try multiple ways to become successful until you find the one that works the best for you.
The world moves very quickly and people are coming up with better and better ideas.
Why not become informed about those ideas and even develop your own.
The Internet is the most powerful tool a person with a home business has.
You can not do anything without the Internet now, especially when trying to operate a business.
It is a tool that lets you communicate with people all around the world.
You can also use it as a powerful marketing tool and draw people to a home business website that gives people information about your business and what you are trying to sell.
These are just a few things you should be aware of when working from home.
Working from home is great because you are your own boss and you are on your own time.
You have to realize, though that this is not a vacation, hard work is necessary to make money and become successful, and that is the ultimate goal in the end.

Pink DaysAgo, inspired by co-inventor Kathleen Whitehurst’s eighth anniversary as a breast cancer survivor, will be sold on the company’s Web site.
Saint Helena, CA, 2008 – When it comes to breast cancer, early detection is the key to survival. No-one knows that better than Kathleen Whitehurst, co-inventor of the award-winning DaysAgo™ Digital Day Counter — and an eight-year breast cancer survivor.
Whitehurst’s company, double u products inc., is introducing a new pink DaysAgo counter as part of her commitment to helping women of all ages get into the habit of doing regular self breast exams. Details about the pink DaysAgo can be found on the company’s Web site, http://www.howmanydaysago.com.
“I feel very blessed to be a survivor of breast cancer, the most common cancer in women,” said Whitehurst, who underwent a mastectomy and chemotherapy to fight her disease. “I want women to remember every month to do their self exams, which are designed to find early tumors. When breast cancer is found early, and confined to the breast, the chances for survival are the greatest.”
The award-winning DaysAgo counts days to help families manage and organize anything in their lives that needs tracking. Originally designed by Whitehurst and her business partner, Debbie Stephens Stauffer, to help busy families keep track of food freshness in their refrigerators, the DaysAgo has become a lifestyle product that is used for everyday tasks ranging from taking medications to changing water filters.
Winner of the 2007 Good Housekeeping “Good Buy Award,” the DaysAgo affixes to containers, cabinets or mirrors through either a magnet for metal surfaces or a suction for others, and has a digital screen that counts up the days after the touch of a button.
The idea for the pink DaysAgo was conceived by Kathleen’s daughter, Jamie Whitehurst, who was inspired by her experience of helping her mom through her illness and walking side-by-side with her in the 3-Day Walk after she recovered.
“When I was diagnosed, my son and daughter were 22 and 20. Jamie was getting ready to graduate from college, and we were also in the middle of planning her wedding,” Whitehurst said. “That really kept me going — we managed to have such great laughs together. She made sure that my bald head, and missing eyebrows and lashes didn’t stop me from feeling like a million bucks on her wedding day.”
Jamie now works with her mom as vice president of double u products, inc.
October is breast cancer awareness month, and the pink DaysAgo is available for retail purchase as well as distribution at fundraising events for this important cause. If you and your family have chosen to take the leap and welcome a puppy into your home, then there are a number of things that you need to know. While owning a puppy can be extremely rewarding, many people underestimate the amount of effort involved both in choosing a puppy and in caring for one. So before you rush out to choose the perfect puppy for you, read on to see just how important choosing the right puppy is.
Why do you want a Puppy?
Before you can choose the perfect puppy for you and your family, you need to first think about why it is that you want the puppy in the first place. Do you want one because they are cute? Are your children putting pressure onto you and you just want to make them happy? If so then the best advice to you is to stop and to think about what owning a puppy actually involves.
Puppies are hard work. They are just like babies. They need to be fed, walked, taken out to the toilet, bathed, groomed and they need plenty of love and affection. Often when parents purchase a puppy for their kids, they soon lose interest and the parents are left with all of the work. That is why so many dogs end up in rescue centers and it could all be avoided if people made a more educated decision when choosing a puppy. Once you know that your family is ready for a puppy, it is then that you can decide which type of puppy you should choose.
What kind of lifestyle do you lead?
The first step to choosing the right puppy to suit your family is looking at what type of lifestyle you lead. Different breeds of dogs will need a different amount of exercise, care and training. For example, a Rottweiler will need firm handling, whereas a Chihuahua will need gentle handling. Sheepdogs will need more exercise than a Bulldog. By understanding these differences and by knowing the demands of each breed, it will help you to choose the best companion to suit your family.
Choosing a puppy which does not fit into your lifestyle can be a really big problem. It is not fair on the puppy for you to expect it to change its instincts. So if you don’t have the time to take your dog on an hour walk each day then do not choose a breed which has a lot of energy. If you do not want a dog that will protect you naturally then do not choose an Alsatian. Always choose a breed which will best fit in with your lifestyle.
Selecting the Right Puppy
Once you know which breed of puppy will best suit your family, you should then research more about how to choose a puppy. For many people they choose the cutest or the one that looks really unhappy. When you see a puppy that is cowering in the corner, it can break your heart and you just want to take them home. However, you need to understand that this may not be the right puppy for you. A puppy that is cowering in the corner will be timid and prone to behavior problems. At the same time a puppy which bounds over to you and which jumps all over you could have problems with dominance. So you want to look for a puppy that comes up to you, but which does not seem overly confident.
Another thing that you will need to look at is how healthy the puppies are. You should always try to purchase a puppy from a specialized breeder as they will be the most responsibly bred puppies. They should have clear eyes and their nose should not be runny. They should look generally healthy and you should not be able to see their ribs.
Overall choosing a puppy can be difficult if you do not know what to look for. It is always a good idea to ask the breeder questions on how to care for the puppy and general breed questions. If they cannot answer your questions then it would be wise to find yourself another breeder. By taking the time to do your research before you bring a puppy home, it will really help you to choose the right puppy for your family.

Do you fear public speaking, or work situations such as giving a presentation or negotiating a raise, or even simply approaching an attractive member of the opposite sex? Do you have an overall lack of confidence? This article is for you! Here comes an incredibly easy “mind game” with powerful results.
Confidence! We all want that in our lives, the assurance and calmness and clarity of mind that comes from knowing we can do it! This quick technique is one we can utilize to combat those “lack-of-confidence” feelings that may arise in any particular setting and enable us to trust and believe in our own capability. This is a fantastically powerful NLP™ process (NLP™ stands for Neuro-Linguistic Programming™, learn more about it by clicking this link: NLP™, http://www.mindworkshypnosis.net/mindworks_nlp.html.) It’s known as: “The New Behavior Generator.” You’re creating an internal road map of how to be confident, utilizing unconscious learning.
Follow these simple steps, in your mind, if you will!
1. 1. Think about a very specific situation in which you’d like to feel more confident. Think about the context. Where and with whom would you like to feel more confident? How would it be to be more confident? Would it be appropriate to feel more confident?
2. 2. Identify someone that you can use as a role model, someone you believe demonstrates the confidence you would like to have. For example, if you’d like to feel more confident as a public speaker, picture someone you know who is a riveting and exciting and confident public speaker. Maybe it’s Oprah, maybe it’s Johnny Carson. Maybe it’s Ryan Seacrest.
3. 3. Look at the role model in your mind, and see what they do in the context you’ve chosen. Pretend you are watching a movie on a screen. See how they act, evaluate their behavior. What behaviors are they using that demonstrate success and confidence? How do they look? How do they stand? How do they talk? How do they walk, breathe, and move…and so on? How are they feeling? Tinker with it, manipulate their behavior in your mind until it is precisely the embodiment of perfect confidence, perfect and compelling.
4. 4. Now, watch the movie again, and see yourself in the action onscreen in place of the role model. You are watching yourself onscreen, the confident you in your chosen setting. You are using the identical behaviors, postures, words, etc. of your role model in the previous version of the movie.
5. 5. Now, step INTO the movie. You are not watching the movie, you are the actor. You are the confident one. Feel it. Know it. Strut it! Experience the behavior fully, exactly as you’d like it.
6. 6. Imagine yourself in the future using the new powerful behavior. You feel different now, more confident, don’t you?
These simple steps help convince your mind that you are what you imagine yourself to be. And, once you believe it, you become it. It’s magick!

In the area of broadband, India has a lot of catching up to do. According to Point Topic, India has fewer broadband connections than Hong Kong, a region it out-populates by nearly a billion people. Broadband penetration is estimated to be at 3% in India. By February 2008, India has only 3.47 million broadband subscribers, far short of the target of 9 million by 2007 set by the broadband policy.
Internet subscribers stood at 9.22 million for the quarter ending 30th June 2007 as compared to 9.27 million during the preceding quarter registering a decrease of approx 0.50%, according to TRAI. The growth is negative as compared to a positive growth of 8.03% during last quarter. Broadband penetration is estimated to be at 3% in India, and the country added only 750,000 broadband connections between October 2006 and September 2007. By February 2008, India has only 3.47 million broadband subscribers, far short of the target of 9 million by 2007 set by the broadband policy.
Besides this, several neighboring countries including China, South Korea and Malaysia are far ahead of India in the broadband penetration. India has 0.3 broadband connections per 100 persons, while South Korea and even China have much better penetration numbers with 29.9 and 5.0 respectively.
Causes for These Discouraging Figures:
Despite the 19% jump in urban domestic Internet usage, home access is still a novelty in India. This is true especially in the case of broadband. The two biggest barriers for the growth of the broadband in India are affordability and the quality. Broadband in India is very expensive when compared to Western Europe and USA.
A 3 MBPS speed unlimited download broadband connection in US is available from a premier ISP like Verizon at $29.99 or Rs.1200 per month. A 512 KBPS speed, unlimited download Internet connection from VSNL or Airtel or Reliance is available from Rs. 1499 or $37.5 to Rs.1799 or $45 per month. This is 6 times slower and 25 to 50 percent costlier than in US. In India, the monthly charge for a broadband connection accounts to 47 to 56 percent of the per capita income*, while it is less than 1 percent in the USA.
There should be no reason for such overpricing in India. Especially, when the wages are a fraction of costs in the US – the minimum wage in US is approximately Rs.232 per hour, where as in India, it is only around Rs.25. Most Internet service providers in the USA built their infrastructure when the telecom equipment prices were at their peak several years back. Right now, Indian ISPs are able to purchase equipment at far lesser prices. Unlike earlier, the last few years saw an abundance of capital for Indian companies with booming equity markets and hundreds of FII’s and Private Equity companies actively investing in India. It is also unlikely that Indian ISPs are paying higher costs for high speed Internet links to connect to the Internet worldwide.
Essentially the ISPs have not passed the benefits of lower operating costs in India to the customers. Until such profiteering is indulged by ISPs, Internet prices will be beyond the reach of most Indian and Internet usage will not become common. You have to remember that mobile usage became viable for the common man only after both the mobile equipment prices and the mobile usage charges became one of the cheapest in the world. That led to the rapid growth of mobile users.
The worrying aspect of the disappointing Internet growth in India is that it will result in lagging of eCommerce in India. This would also lead to loss of job opportunities in the new age industries in a country aggressively looking to create jobs. Further, it would make the Indian eCommerce market lag not only against developed countries but also against the Asian ones. There are also other factors leading to the slow growth of Internet and E-commerce in India that we will discuss in the next article.
* Nominal per capita incomes of India and US are taken as $965 and $45,594 respectively, according to IMF – 2007.
