Training Programs

September 3rd, 2009 by

There’s actually a number of proven, effective training programs offered by trainer training companies. Different companies have different ways of working, and most training companies understand this, and try to provide a number of options so as to allow just about any manager out there to effectively train their senior employees to effectively train the newer employees.

To list a few of these trainer training programs…

Trainer Training Workshops
The time devoted to an individual workshop will depend on the company’s needs, of course. You can train a short order cook on how to effectively teach the menu to younger employees pretty quickly, but other jobs are more demanding. But anyways, a workshop consists of various activities and train the trainer presentations which work to train your trainers in effectively teaching the requisite skills and knowledge to new employees.

On Site Trainer Training
This is generally employed when the actual tasks at hand are more hands on. Using on site trainer coaching, you can have a “trainer trainer” come directly to your place of business to show your trainers how to teach, in the actual work environment where they will, in fact, be teaching. This is definitely helpful for kitchens and factories, where it can be a little difficult to describe the duties without being hands-on.

Customized Trainer Training Program
Okay, really, every trainer training program is customized to some degree. Again, every company is different, every company assigns different tasks to their employees. Working with a qualified trainer training company, you’re always going to get a trainer training program custom tailored to your company’s particular needs.

What it all comes down to is basically this: Nobody is born an excellent teacher.

If you have the time and resources to do one-on-one training between yourself and every single one of your new employees, go for it. Honestly, if you own a small business that can be easily run by yourself and just one or two other employees, you probably have yet to encounter the kind of problems that have employers resorting to trainer training. However, it’s something to keep in mind if your company winds up growing.

When you have a dozen or more employees, you just don’t have the time to deal with every new recruit individually, and you have to be able to trust that your older employees will know how to guide and teach the new people to perform to the best of their abilities.

Trainer training uses proven, effective methods of teaching to teach your employees how to, well, teach… using proven, effective methods of teaching! You can’t always rely on the senior employee’s knowledge of the job being all it takes to teach that knowledge to a new recruit. Think of a high school Spanish teacher. Knowing Spanish isn’t the only qualification for Spanish teachers. Spanish teachers also need to hold a degree in the actual skill of teaching.

Trainer training is kind of ironic in that teaching is really the only skill that can be easily passed on without an additional degree.
