Online marketing is a double scoop for established businesses and a treat for small and newly established businesses. An effective internet marketing strategy can prove valuable in the short term as well as long term, despite any kind of economic unrest. Therefore, businesses having a constant strategy to invest in their website marketing are building a solid foundation for the company’s future.

The one certainty about SEO processes is that it provides no guarantee. No
matter how skilled an SEO professional is or how experienced an SEO agency
is, when it comes to written word, no one can give assurances.
Search Engine Optimization is a gradual process. There is no sure fire way
to catapult your website to the top slots of search engine results. It is rather
a result of persistent efforts in the right direction.
However, as much as you steer ahead with the right kind of efforts, so much
do you lag behind with the wrong ones! Here are 7 sins you should absolutely
refrain from:
Targeting Search Engines over Audiences
Search engine optimization is the process of making a website rank well in
search results so as to attract more visitor traffic. The prime objective of
SEO is to attract traffic. However, in a bid to get themselves a good ranking
in search results, many websites forget this.
Stuffing too many keywords into your web pages with no care for the content
quality may fetch you short term SEO results but until and unless visitors
like the content, there is no way you can convince them to make a purchase.
On the other side, if visitors really like your content the website would
obviously become popular and top the search engine charts.
Link Spamming
Don’t be desperate for links. Websites
often chase too many links by randomly answering questions on forums or posting
useless comments on blogs
in a bid to increase their number of external links.
Search engines determine the quality of links by the authority of websites
they come from. So spurious methods of link spamming techniques have no relevance
at all.
No Heed to Link Text
Anchor text of links should be written
with utmost caution. This is because search engines determine the internal
links through the contents of the anchor
text. For example in place of something like ‘Click Here’ always
use descriptive text like ‘Click here for more articles on Web Design & Development’.
No Progress Track
To measure the success (or failure) of your SEO campaign, it is very important
you have an effective mechanism to measure the progress. Just seeing organic
results for your website is no measure of your website success. Rather there
are other performance metrics like number of sales; new search inclusions are
all important parameters to measure the success of the SEO campaigns.
Wrong Choice of Keywords
Companies that promise guaranteed
top listings no doubt are taking you for a ride. Their prime strategy is the
wrong choice of keywords. A company selling
skin care products should rank well for ‘skin care products’ and
not for ‘skin care products 12345’
Ideal keywords for a website should be what the company is known for and what
potential audiences search for.
No SEO Strategy
An SEO strategy is very essential for the success of the SEO project. Cut
out clear objectives for the project and work at achieving short term goals
to achieve the prime one.

Search engine optimization is a field of tremendous knowledge upgradation, and the best SEO firm would be one that constantly keeps itself informed of all the happenings in the world of internet based technologies. The other factor would be the ability to strategize using the best combination from the lot and offer them at the most affordable price to their clients.
Search engine optimization has been around for a long time now. Ten years is eternity on the internet, and that is the age of SEO. Some of the oldest search engine optimization services companies have been around for all these ten years. When you look at the current style of optimization and compare it with what these organizations used to do ten years ago, you will actually start laughing! The concept of SEO, when it began, had only alt tags and meta tags to work with, and they were more than enough, considering the state of the search engines in that period.
The early search engines literally had to plough through the millions of web pages to search for the top results, and the surprising thing was that there were totally unrelated search engine results that used to pop up, as the tags were unrelated to the content in the website. However, today’s search engines are sheer geniuses, and thanks to pioneers such as Google, they are becoming more and more intelligent each day. Today, most of the search engines will come up with the exact website you are looking for in the top 2-3 results, and hardly do we have the need to go down to the next page.
That is a blessing as well as a curse! What happens if your website does not feature on the first page of the search engine result pages? It is as good as not having a website. Only those who know the exact website and its address would come in, and there will hardly be any stumble upons. That is where search engine marketing comes in. SEM is one of the key strategies of search engine optimization services, and the best SEO firm – http://www.seosuccesso.com – would ensure that there are maximum ways of optimization so that your website remains visible to all kinds of people around the world.
When you look to optimize your website, you certainly will look through the profiles of several SEO companies. The best SEO firm would be the one which listens to your requirements and develops a strategy that is custom built for your website’s requirements. During the planning phase, you will come to know whether this is a good search engine optimization services provider or not. Also, the budget should be within your reach; as SEO can be done in virtually any kind of budget – from free to millions of dollars.
The only way of finding out the best SEO firm is by looking at the work they have done, and by interfacing with them in depth.

Just having a great website is simply not adequate to make your score on the World Wide Web (WWW)! The website optimization process is of paramount importance in the internet marketing strategy. Search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and MSN perform a considerable role in the success of a website. If the search engines can’t find your site, then for sure your prospective customer wont find it either.
This is known as Search Engine Optimization (SEO) or Website optimization.
Website optimization broadly means improvement and acceleration of the performance of a website. It simply implies that a website is made popular using various channels of site promotion. By increasing its visibility of a site it is assured that the potential customers will positively visit a site, if they are looking for products and services offered on the site. It also aims to retain the traffic of the site and prevents customers from navigating elsewhere.
There are some rules to be followed in order to optimize a site. Like, it is essential that the content of a web page is written in a language that targets those keywords that are most important for a particular business. Strategies like this help the website to be found by the search engines and have a high ranking or placement in the search engine results. It should be remembered that all the search engines have a different operating system and use different rules for ranking a website. Through this process the search engines rank a website and can place it at the top of the list in response to search. It is a long and complicated procedure undertaken by the search engines to consider all these variations.
In order to achieve a higher rank in the result of the search engines there are certain steps which are followed:
Optimized content on the Website
The first and fore most step involves placing optimized content in all pages of the
website. The content is optimized by adding the targeted keywords in the right density at the right place. Keyword usage in site content plays an important role in the indexing process of the search engines.
Adding Tags
Tags are general terms that help describe your post. Adding or making changes to Meta tags, Title tags, H1 tags, H2 tags, all in anchor text, and alt tags for images, after keywords research. A thorough keyword analysis for this purpose.
Link building
The next step is of link building. It is an important part of search engine optimization and basically involves linking of a website with other websites. Link Building done on a site with quality backlinks is one of the many important aspects considered by search engines, while determining the rankings of a site.
Maintenance of the Website
This involves reporting on improvement in ranking on a regular basis. Re-optimization and resubmission based on client feedback. Website statistics monitoring and conversion tracking.

It believes to be one of the best and easiest ways to earn money online. Therefore, many people are attracted to this business, which means more competitors. In most cases, you and your competitors will promote the exact same program, in the same exact zone, or even the exact same websites.
In this very competitive industry, there are some aspects to consider setting yourself apart from other affiliates.

Your website will act as your showroom where you display your products or services.Your potential customers will visit your website to learn about your products or services. If they found what you are looking for, they will then make the purchase.
Write your own ads
When you join an affiliate program, many times the merchant will provide you with some ads to promote. However, these kind of generic ads are not too effective. If you are a regular on blogs related to internet marketing and search engine optimization, you would have seen this question often enough. With the burgeoning costs of internet marketing driving a lot of small websites out of business, there is a lot of demand of quality affordable SEO.
Search engine optimization is a resource intensive technique, and it takes a lot of time to get a brand new website on to the top of search engine result pages. So, the web masters and the search engine marketing consultants together decide to get going real quick, and usually zero in on to a high investment campaign, with a lot of paid placements. Yes, they will certainly boost the presence online, but the usual time the effort lasts for is pretty low. So, finally when the time for calculation of return on investment comes close, the result is pretty depressing! The cost for each visitor zooms up way beyond, and leaves the web master high and dry.
However, it is not necessary that this has to happen. Most of the search engine optimization services providers on the internet today are companies that focus on short term gains, and that is the reason this happens. However, there are a few companies that are still in the right frame and make sure that their efforts pay off results on a long term basis. And some of the best search engine optimization services companies are affordable SEO providers too.
In fact, any good SEO company should have a range of packages so that it would be able to service various kinds of clients, with various budgets. Packages like pay per click are designed to make sure that the budget is in the control of the client / consultant, and an affordable SEO company would have a lot of channels like that in the strategy. Cheap SEO is quite possible, and if you are looking for a low budget campaign, do ask your consultant to design one for you.
When a cheap SEO strategy is designed, you can easily identify if it truly is low cost. If there is a mixture of channels, you can immediately recognize that the campaign is on track. Having multiple channels would ensure that your website uses a lot of ways of reaching out to the customers at the first level, and based on the return on investment, you will then be able to focus specially on the channels yielding more results in the second phase of optimization. Another affordable SEO solution would be to go with a company that also does designing and content writing. If hosting also is done by the same company, it’s a bonus! If the whole package is given to one provider, the per section cost comes down.
One thing cannot be replaced though. Whether the SEO provider is affordable or not, as a client, make sure that the practices being followed are ethical. They will save you a lot of money and rework in the long run.

If you found this article because you were trying to find out how to get your website to show up when your potential customers were looking for your product, I was right where you are now. Hopefully you aren’t spending $50,000.00 per month or more on Pay Per Click advertising like I was, but if so, I feel your pain.
When the internet went public, it was thought that this was going to be the way that the little company could compete on level footing with big companies.
But that wasn’t exactly true. Sure you can point to a few success stories. Very few. But that wasn’t what you found was it?
Those advertisements on television didn’t help either. You know the one where the people build a website, publish it and within seconds they are flooded with orders.
The reality was that you built your website and nothing happened. So you tried to get all your printed advertising to list your website. It took me a year to get all my Yellow Page advertising to point potential customers to my website. A year and $10,000 per month hoping that my ad would be in the phone book that most people would keep in most cities. Did you know that an average home in California gets more than Ten phone books every year?
It was discouraging to go to Yahoo and search for your website. Finding all kinds of websites listed before yours that have absolutely nothing to do with the products you offer. The results people were getting from Yahoo sucked so bad that people started looking for a different place to search and Google was born.
I was doing everything I could to promote my website. I was even looking for outside help. I found a lot of companies that would promise me number one ranking for all kinds of terms except the ones that I needed to be found under.
I hired agencies to help me with my website design using the “hidden” techniques to get my website to number one on the search engines.
I was lucky my website didn’t get completely banned because of the “help” I was getting.
If you are reading this and recognizing your own struggle in any of this let me start by saying, there is help.
There are credible people out there to help you get to the top of the Search Results for terms that would make a difference to your business.
What you need is help with your Search Optimization. Google just recently posted a guide of what it considers improper optimization techniques which should help you ask the right questions when you’re searching for help.
It can be done. I now have my website on page one of all the major Search Engines, twenty four hours a day, seven days a week and I don’t pay a dime for Pay Per Click anymore.

Advertising is a major but relatively costly method for traffic generation. In pay per click advertising you pay for displaying your site’s name along with a brief description when a user types a term into a search engine that is relevant to the content of your site. The technicalities that involves in pay per click are to be understood before you use it and a good grasp of keywords and how pay per click can be used for traffic generation is crucial.
The different advertising ways are cost-per-click, cost-per-impression, cost-per-acquisition, and flat fee online advertising.
Cost-per-Click (CPC) : An advertising program where you get paid each time someone clicks on the ad that you display on your website.(CPC) bid is one of the factors that determines the position of an ad on search and content pages. Raising your CPC bid can benefit your ad’s position, and lowering your bid can decrease your ad’s position. Cost-Per-Click Program is a great strategy for businesses that wish to generate warm lead inquiries and direct online sales generation. Cost-per-click programs can drive business to your website with powerful marketing techniques, wherein you pay only when a visitor clicks on your link.
Cost-per-Impression (CPM) : Pays you each time that you show an ad to a visitor on your website.CPM advertising are that you aren’t relying on quality ads to generate clicks. Advertisers are getting smarter and they’re buying Cost-per-Click advertising designed to promote their website without indeed encouraging a click. They know that they are getting free advertising right up until the point where people click the link. Cost Per Impression is a phrase often used in online advertising and marketing related to web traffic. It is used for measuring the worth and cost of a specific e-marketing campaign. This technique is applied with web banners, text links, e-mail spam, and opt-in e-mail advertising, although opt-in e-mail advertising is still more commonly charged on a Cost Per Action (CPA) basis.
Cost-per-Acquisition/Affiliate (CPA): CPA or Cost Per Action agreement relate directly to some type of conversion, with leads, sales and registrations among the most common and does not include deals based solely on clicks such as AdSense, which are referred to specifically as cost-per-click or CPC. Allows you to get paid when someone clicks on and ad from you website and fills out a form. Acquisition costs vary across industries and mediums. This is not always easy, as customer acquisition data can be scarce, and the methodology is often sketchy.

The first step to developing any search engine optimization effort is picking keywords. The general consensus is pick keywords with solid amounts of traffic and a minimum of competition. At the risk of being laughed off the Internet, here’s a different view.
Going Big…Going VERY Big
Should you do research to identify keywords receiving lots of traffic? Absolutely. Of this group, should you identify the keywords with the lowest amount of competition? Again, yes. After all, who would be foolish enough to try to attack keywords with a few million competing sites? Well, me for one.
People that go for a keyword phrase like “for sale by owner” [2 million plus searches a month and KEI of 0.000000000…] are often dismissed as amateurs with unrealistic expectations. For those of us that have been in the business for some time, this bias deserves some reconsideration. The motivation is greed…pure and simple greed.
Seo greed is arises when one achieves top listings in Google, Yahoo and MSN for a site. Using the example above, assume the client is a car-listing site and you’ve conquered all the listings for “car for sale by owner.” Yes, it took 15 months, but the client is happy and so are you. Or are you?
After a few weeks, you start thinking, “Damn, I should have gone for the phrase ‘for sale by owner’ and the extra 700,000 searches a month.” You start getting visions of changing the site, but the anchor text in links and so on is already set. In the end, you feel dissatisfied because you want more, damn it!
A Different Approach
Okay, I am not advocating you throw competition analysis out the window. You should absolutely find keywords that have solid traffic and low competition. If nothing else, you need short-term carrots to keep you motivated. That being said, you must also plan for the inherent evil greed in your twisted little seo soul. Don’t even try to deny it.
Here it comes…
I am advocating you go for keywords with monstrous amounts of traffic, competition analysis be damned! Yes, I know. What a fool.
Throwing caution to the wind, I am even going to argue that…[drum roll]…you consider one-word keywords! I know… Blasphemy!…Insanity!…Stupid Moron…etc. But think about it. When you’ve accomplished your goals with low competition keywords, why not have a go at the biggies? What if you get them…even a few?
Putting it all together, my theory is this. Identify the low competition keywords, optimize your site and so on. Just make sure you also throw some “wishful thinking” keywords. If the optimized site survives for three or four years, you might just be thankful you did.
I’m off to optimize for the keyword “travel.” Lets see, Expedia is listed number 1 with a page rank of 8 and 67 thousand back links on Google.

Introduction
So you have completed your website, great! Now how are you going to attract visitors? If you do not let them know you’re there, your visitors will never find find you. How are you going to sell products when users don’t know that you exist? SEO will make your website noticeable on the internet, and this small guide will help you bring targeted visitors to your website.
Optimize your website
The most important part of your website is quality content. Search engines (such as google) will crawl your content and index it into a database. If your content does not match the product you are selling, you will not attract targeted visitors. It is therefore very important that you choose your (key)words very carefully. For instance, if you sell calculators on the internet, make sure you mention the words calculator, calc, math and more calculator related words on your website. However, be careful not to mention the words too often, or search engines might think your website is spam, which will result in a very low rank (search engine position) within the search results.
Linkbuilding
When more websites link to your site, the more attention you will get from search engines, which results in higher ranking. When you create and receive links from other websites to your website, make sure important keywords are used as anchor keywords in the hyperlink. If you sell calculators online, use a link such as; “buy calculator” instead of “click here”.
Target your audience
Leave your link on website where your potential customers meet, for instance forums or discussion boards related to your website. Do not spam your website as this will be noticed by crawlers and will eventually result in a blacklist entry.
Offline targeting
Be sure to market your website offline as well. Advertise in local newspapers, tell everyone about your website, etc.
Add a sitemap to your website When you want search engines to crawl your entire website, the best thing to do is adding a sitemap to your website.
Make sure searchbots can read your website
Searchbots can only read plain text.websites. No matter how beautiful your flash animation is, searchbots cannot read the content inside that animation. Therefore, try to avoid Flash animations on your website when there is content involved. Same story goes for JavaScript.
Do NOT use frames
Never use frames to design your website! Lots of search engines simply skip webpages with frames since they are a difficult to be seen apart from each other by visitors. For instance, if your framepage would consist of menu.html and content.html and your visitor would land on content.html, he would not have a menu to navigate through your website.
Stay away from bad neighbourhoods and don’t spam!
Do not be tempted into leaving your link on abandonned guestbooks, forums or spam your link on every website you can find. Do not exchange links with spammy websites (such as pharmacy websites) either. The risk exists that google will classify your website as a spamsite and will block your website from any search results.

5 web content writing secrets revealed for more productive web content writing.
Writing for websites is not at all like writing for other purposes. There is a method and a style that works best for web, and other writing styles just don’t do as well. These differences are not difficult, but you do need to know the rules, or the SEO copywriting services you look for need to use these rules in their writing style. The following are 5 elements that most good SEO copywriting service companies use in their content publications.
The Readers Attention!
Most SEO copywriters know that they have about 4 seconds to get their readers attention, and another 10 seconds to keep it.
In school most of us are taught to use a thesis then an introduction, but web content doesn’t work that way. The first sentences not only need to tell your reader about the article, but need to grab their attention too.
Once you have their attention then you need to keep your sentences short, easy to read, give all the relevant information, and keep your article relatively short. If you can’t get everything said in a short article, then you probably need to write more than one article.
The Right Keywords!
In school, you are taught not to repeat yourself. but in web content you want to repeat certain key words a few times. Most SEO copywriting services know how to do this without it seeming too repetitive, or false.
Bold and Italics
Normally you emphasize certain written words with bolds or with italics, but not so in web content writing. In web content this type of lettering can mean something totally different, or cause the browser to see text differently, that is why some SEO copywriters use all capital letters in a word instead.
Paragraphs
when you write for web content, or when you hire one of the SEO copywriting services, you need to be sure that the paragraphs in your content are kept short. Unlike essay writing were paragraphs need to be longer, web content paragraphs need to be shorter, because it is a little harder to read a computer screen and the pages are shorter.
In fact, most web content writers know to keep their paragraphs only a couple of sentences long. They also know that they need to get their meaning across in these two sentences.
The Importance of Bullets
Web readers are looking for quick reads, and quick information. The use of bullets, lists, and points by an SEO web content writing Service Company helps direct the readers eye toward relevant information.
These 5 web content writing secrets will help you create effective, interesting and easy to read content for your internet readers. You or your SEO copywriting service company will never go wrong, when using these tips.

I look at a lot of sites on a daily basis. There are a lot of common problems I see on the sites. Some people may have tags establishment or misuse of tags that have no real purpose. I have compiled a list of the top 5 do-it-yourself SEO mistakes. It is safe to say that many do-it-yourselfers can have at least one of these errors on their sites. These should help you avoid these costly mistakes and often pull you in the ranks.
1) Keyword tag – A keyword is the beacon of keywords, but not for keywords. You can not just stuff this tag with keywords that your entire site is related. The tags must reflect the keywords only on that particular page, not the entire site and not all of the keywords you think your site could be searched. Also, you should not have more than 20 words in the tag. You should not repeat any word more than 3 times. If you sell tickets, for example, do not write: Broadway tickets, the circus tickets, hockey tickets, boxing tickets, and so forth. Do use Broadway, the circus, hockey, boxing, tickets and so forth.
2) Description tag – It is sometimes used as a replacement for or combined with a description tag. However, more and more people are using these keywords to stuff. Search engines like Google are interested in what is on the page. More specifically, what visitors can see? In my opinion, the abstract tag has no place on a site.
3) Description Tag – The idea behind this tag is to describe what the “page” is about. Keywords related to the page should be implemented as well. The limit on words should be 20 to 25. I see a lot of site owners stuffing this tag with keywords, or having a description that is just as long. Stay within these guidelines and you will be fine.
4) Title tag – This, I believe, is the most important tag. This is the first tag the search engine bed. He tells what the search engine of the “page” is about. Do not put your web address here. Do not add your company name at the beginning of this tag either. It should not exceed 60 characters.
5) Content-If you notice, I received comments on the relevance of the “page”, not your entire site. Each page has its own keywords. Tag the title tag, description and keywords. All these keywords should be the same. Add it to your content as well. Now your page should be fairly well optimized.
Why is it that the sites fall short? Simple, the content is not optimized. Search engines are, for the most part, pretty basic. You enter a search term and it retrieves sites containing those terms while also taking a number of other factors into account. So if your site does not have these terms, how will you find it? You will not. More to do with keywords and you will experience the same result, but for different reasons. Sometimes, while reading about SEO can be bad. Try too many tricks, tips or methods are like too many cooks spoil the soup. At the end, they may do more harm than good. These rules are very easy to be followed by all. And the doubt? Always consult or hire a professional SEO.

Everyone is talking about SEO these days and the best ways to go about it. There are s may different theories that it can be pretty hard to sort through them all and still have time to use them.
These days if a site is to succeed SEO needs to be addressed. Search engine optimization is a powerful tool, one that can change the way your site is seen by others. In fact, without any there is a good chance that your site will never be seen at all.
Your best bet is to hire a professional to do your SEO for you. This is the easiest way by far to ensure that the job gets done right. This does not mean that you shouldn’t do a little bit of homework yourself though.
Even when you outsource this work, you still need to know the basics in order to make sure you are not throwing your money away. You need to see that you are not getting taken advantage of and the only way to do that is to make it clear to the professional that you are no dummy.
Let them know from the start that you know your stuff. Never tell them that you are new to the game of SEO that is just opening the door to trouble. Instead you need to throw around some terms and make it look like you know even more than you do, it is always better to be safe than sorry!
If you want to save some money then you will need to do your best to learn what you can on your own. SEO is a complicated matter and it is vital that you take things slow. You can simply learn as you go, that is what I did and I am a seasoned pro now.
Start with the basics, put them to use and go from there. The internet is a fount of information and the vast majority of it is free. Why pay for something if you don’t have to. You may want to checkout the local library as well; you could find a ton of books there to read through. Just make sure you take notes.
One last tip: If you do choose to hire an SEO professional pick their brain as they work. Keep comprehensive notes on everything he or she tells you so that the next time you need to get this job done, you will be able to do it yourself. Ask all of the questions you can think of, it will save you thousands in the future.

Many webmasters spend a lot of time optimizing their home page only. They do this by optimizing onpage factors like H1 tags, title, keyword density, alt tags, etc, and offpage factors like the number and quality of inward links from other sites. That’s fine and is something you should definitely do, but you should also take some time to optimize all of your inner web pages as well.
This is because if you can get a good pagerank for all of your inner pages, as well as your home page, it increases the chances of these pages being ranked highly in the search engines for their chosen keywords, and increases the number of visitors you could get.
So how do you achieve this? Well firstly I recommend that all of your main web pages are just one click away from your home page. You should have a well-structured navigation menu on your home page. Each link within the menu should be an anchor text link containing your main keyword(s). For example, let’s say you had an inner page about hair loss. Now you may have done keyword research and found the term “hair loss” to be too competitive, so let’s say you have decided to optimize your web page for the less competitive term “male hair loss”. In this example, your link from the navigation menu should be “male hair loss” rather than “hair loss”.
You can dramatically enhance this interlinking structure and boost the pagerank of your inner web pages further by including this navigation menu on all of your inner web pages. This means that all of your main inner web pages are always just one click away and will dramatically boost the number of inward links that each page has. This can be very powerful because with higher pagerank and more links comes higher search engine rankings, but surprisingly is something that many so-called SEO experts fail to recognise.
Another way of achieving this effect if you do not want to include a navigation menu on every page is by including a link tree on every one of your inner pages. These are those links that you often find at the bottom of pages, and are again a very good way of interlinking your web pages. As before, be sure to include your main keyword(s) within each link.
I personally include a left-hand navigation menu on all of my websites, as well as a link tree at the bottom of each web page. This ensures not only that each page of each site has the maximum number of internal inward links, which boosts my pagerank and search engine rankings, but also ensures that the visitors to the site are always just one click away from each main page of the site. This is important if they enter at one of your inner pages, because often they will then want to navigate to the home page.
To conclude, to rank highly in the search engines, you should focus on on-page optimization, and more so off-page optimization. Just as every inward link to your site from another website acts as a vote for your site, and boosts your pagerank and search engine rankings, a link from another page within your site also acts as a vote and will also have a positive effect on your ranking. A good interlinking structure within your site will ensure that every page is fully optimized and has the optimum number of links from your other pages allowing you to rank higher for all of your inner pages as well as your home page.
In this article I discuss how to fully optimise the internal linking structure of your website to achieve a greater pagerank and higher search engine rankings.

When someone enters the search terms into Google, Yahoo or MSN and press enter, they will have pages of results return. Pages that have been search engine optimized (SEO) and earned their page rankings. Inevitably, the end user skips the banner ads and sponsored results. SEO pages deliver not because they have paid the search engine to premier their results but because the work invested in the pages shows up in the ranking system.
In the world of SEO, individually owned businesses can compete with corporate giants. The playing field is still not completely level, because in contrast to those large corporate entities that can dominate in a local retail market – it is the individual small business that can create a stronger foothold with their niche focus.
SEO counts on the natural search function versus the sites that pay for the number of hits they get. Natural searching is organic because as stated above, the results are more real to what the visitor is looking for. The difference for the visitor is much like watching a paid advertisement on television and talking to a friend who used the product. Chances are greater that a person will be more influenced by their friend’s experiences than they will by the paid advertisement.
In world where marketing dollars number into the billions, it is not surprising that the average consumer whether in ‘real’ or ‘virtual’ marketplaces is less swayed by the ‘advertisement’ than they are by the ‘experience.’ As the search engine visitor scans the results to their search terms, they’ll be looking at the links and descriptions as much as they will on the highlighted terms.
A person entering a search for ‘do it yourself grout’ is likely to get hits like Home Depot, Lowe’s and even Sears. There may be paid advertisements for book links on doing it yourself from the larger book chains. There may even be an advertisement for Do It Yourself television shows featuring names like Bob Vila. But if all the person is looking for is some quick instructions on how to use grout, they are highly unlikely to click those links. They will be looking for the more organically returned results that feature step-by-step instructions and more.
Upcoming changes in the Internet market may also influence the effect that SEO companies have on search engines and individual websites. Yahoo, for example, has a new Site Match program that will be mixing both organic and sponsored results. The FTC (Federal Trade Commission) is taking an interest in the process. Paid fees are not supposed to affect rankings. That is why sponsored sites are listed as such. Yet, the very nature of sponsoring puts those websites up on the top part of the page.
Internet visitors are savvy, however and with the scrutiny being put on search engines by the FTC and other marketplace outlets, education in SEO and how it affects a web page’s ranking is going to become a must know for all Internet consumers and visitors.
Some search engines are removing their sponsored results altogether or separating them to allow visitors to choose what type they want to see. AskJeeves is one that announced it was impossible to present sponsored and organic results together in an unbiased format. The end users don’t want to see results from the company that pays the most money to get their advertising out there. They want to see the results that most closely match what they are looking for.
In a world of organic search engines, SEO is king. By using SEO web design and professional web designers, a web site can achieve higher page rankings and visitor traffic by being exactly what it is. A hardware store shouldn’t pay to be listed on the same page as a lingerie search. They certainly wouldn’t be hanging it in their own retail stores.
By the same token, search engine visitors have a right to expect that the results they get are real. That the pages they are going to follow links to will have the information or related information to their search terms. When SEO is done right, promoting the click through links and SEO copywriting supporting the information already presented, then everyone wins. In a world of organic search engines, SEO DOES work.
When someone enters the search terms into Google, Yahoo or MSN and press enter, they will have pages of results return. Pages that have been search engine optimized (SEO) and earned their page rankings. Inevitably, the end user skips the banner ads and sponsored results.
