Computer Games Through the Ages

March 17th, 2007 by Xavier Media

Do you remember the old movie where the two boys hack into a government computer and it asks them if they would like to play a game? Back when I first saw it I was amazed at how much computers could do, now it seems so outdated that it makes the movie void in my mind. Games and computers sure have come a long way in the past couple of decades. The average computer that sits in a child’s room has thousands of times the memory of the computer that was used to send the astronauts to the moon, and they just keep on getting more sophisticated. Throw on top of that the fact that the Internet is now everywhere and that most of our computers are linked into this central network and it really boggles the mind.

One area in which computers have really expanded over the years is in the games department. Since the old days of pong and table tennis these games are now so sophisticated that they are almost real. I have played some games on my computer that were a lot of fun, but the graphics were so realistic and with all the spinning and turning that went on I almost got sick. If you’ve ever watched your child play a game on the computer or on their home video game system then you know what I’m talking about. If you’ve never seen what your child is playing then you should sit in one time, it will be a real eye opener.

As computers get faster and faster and the Internet grows even more, the online gaming industry will grow along with it. Still there will be those that love the old standby games like solitaire or word puzzles, but no matter what kind of game you enjoy there is no doubt that you will be able to enjoy it better and faster in the near future.
