Fun and Inexpensive Baby Shower Decorations
February 29th, 2008 by Xavier MediaWhether or Not You Have a Theme, Baby Shower Decorations Can Be a Snap if You Just Use a Little Imagination
Spend five minutes on Google and you can find some really adorable ideas for fun, inexpensive baby shower decorations. Or, you can keep reading this article. Now, we all know that decorations are a vital part of a baby shower, because they set the mood for the party. Spend a little time and effort on it, and your guests will love the baby shower decorations you put up for the party.
There are many fun, easy, and creative ways you can decorate for a baby shower. Empty baby food jars, for example, make great votives for tea light candles. Place them around the room and the candlelight will make the atmosphere warm and inviting. A clothesline strung across the main room with diapers, onesies, washcloths, and other useful baby items pinned to it not only makes for a fun baby shower decoration, but are things the mother-to-be can take home with her.
Using Balloons for Baby Shower Decorations
Balloons can be picked up super-inexpensive at any dollar store. Even with the cost of renting a helium tank, it’s still far more cost-effective to blow them up yourself than to pay a party store to do it for you. There is no need to get more costly “special occasion” balloons, just get plain balloons in baby colors, then tie them down to things like baby shampoo, baby bottles, and other baby supplies. Again these are inexpensive items that you can easily find in bulk lots, which the mother-to-be will be grateful to take home with her.
Decorating the Food Tables
There are lots of fun ways you can decorate a food table. Besides ribbon and paper napkins from the dollar store, you can create a cute centerpiece by filling a baby bathtub full of tiny blue balloons and sticking a couple of rubber duckies on top. Another popular baby shower decoration is a diaper cake as a centerpiece. You can find instructions online with step-by-step directions on how to build one, or you can purchase them online already made. You might want to think about having a real cake stashed somewhere, just in case the mother-to-be was looking forward to a piece of real cake!
If your baby shower includes a sit-down meal, there are plenty of creative ways you can do it up with baby shower decorations. Try filling some small baby bottles with pastel colored mint candies, and taping cute place cards to them at each guest’s seat. Larger baby bottles can also become vases with silk flowers in them and be placed on the table and throughout the party room. The ring of a pacifier makes a perfect napkin ring, and new cloth diapers can substitute for place mats.
In addition to adorable decorations, all of these make great conversation starters for your guests, and the mother-to-be will welcome the additional gifts. Regardless of which of these ideas you use, or what baby shower decorations you come up with on your own, decorations like these will make sure that the baby shower is fun for everyone involved.
