Saving money on Cape Cod

July 19th, 2008 by colewebdev

Living on Cape Cod can be hard especially if you are the younger generation and making money is not as easy as it once used to be. When living on the Cape you need to consider the fact that housing is very expensive, there are only so many houses that can be built and soon land will be sparse, many shops and stores are closed in the winter time and the amount of people that live on the Cape is drastically less in the winter than in the summer. With all of this in mind it is not an easy place to make money and live.

A lot of people that come to the Cape do so part time, such as for the winter only and or the summer only. There are only so many people that live there year round. The people that do live on Cape Cod year round usually work for themselves in some type of service and or hospitality industry. A lot of locals are: plumbers, carpenters, hotel owners, shop owners, electricians and so on. Working for yourself gives you more flexibility and more time to make the money that is needed to live on the Cape. Most of the people that work for a business are students and people aged 17-23. While business owners are usually mid 20’s and up. That is the time when people realize that they can’t live at home anymore and they need to make enough money to survive on Cape Cod.

Managing your money and finances on the Cape is a major part of the way that locals need to live in order to survive. Buying items in bulk, buying used, bartering your services and more are all ways that local Cape Codders stay in business and stay afloat. Luckily there are quite a few places on the Cape where you can buy items at a lower price than shopping at the only Mall on the Cape, the Cape Cod Mall.

Shopping online is a very important tool for Cape Codders as it gives them a way to buy items at a lower price than at the local shops. It is much easier to shop online too, you don;t have to leave your house and burn gas driving around the Cape trying to find what you need, just do a search right online and find what you need for the least price. There are also many online sites that tell you and show you how to save money and these are great resources especially for those in need of saving money.

This article is written by Frugal Cape Cod a local website that helps people living on the Cape and Islands save money without giving up everything. Frugal spending and money saving tips are discussed each week to help people keep their finances in order.
